My friend moved into the neighborhood yesterday, so we decided to come here for dinner. My two friends each had a dinner combo, and I had the rib-eye steak/tilapia fajita combo. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious! The service was very friendly and helpful as well. I’ve just eaten my leftovers for breakfast and almost cannot wait to go back. Definitely give it a try!

The Mexican rice was delicious… And that usually means the food will be tasty. It was. Expedient and friendly service. Hefty Margarita sizes. Don’t know what people are lookin for with the 3 and less stars. Perhaps only that burrito is good. Ill certainly return to try more of their menu!

Puzzling? The reviews are all over the place for this spot. 100% not authentic, If you’re looking for an ok Mexican style lunch or dinner it will Suffice. The portions are average to small, the service was ok at best. I had to ask for chips and salsa which was disappointing. Salsa must come from a jar and the chips seemed stale. The upside, it seemed clean. I certainly wouldn’t go out of my way to return.

Average food, had the shrimp fajitas. The server was very pleasant. The bottled beer had a flat taste to it… Great music though!

I went in twice, once for lunch and another for dinner. Food was consistently good, I had beef, chicken and shrimp tacos which were delicious. My only gripe is that they should give you more rice and beans. That is a cheap product that a restaurant can give enough of…

This location isn’t far from my office, so it’s very convenient. Quick service. Very narrow dining room, but the outside seating is great. I’m super picky when it comes to tacos and have yet to find a place in the northeast that compares to my home state of California. The food was super hot(temperature), the shells were store bought, and the guacamole was very eh(not freshly made). It was a decent meal and I’m willing to come back to try another dish, although, my hopes aren’t high.

Horrible restaurant! The only thing good about is was the restaurant itself-beautifully decorated and very colorful walls. And they played Spanish/Mexican music which was a plus. I ordered my favorite Mexican dish — carne asada. I asked for pretty rare because I know it’s thinly sliced and it overcooks easily. Of course it came overcooked which I wasn’t surprised about. The waitress asked how it was and I told her so. So she took it back to show the manager. Out came another one and this one was just as overcooked. So I gave up complaining. As I was eating my rice I noticed a piece of plastic in it. Disgusting! Of course we showed the waitress who took it back to show the manager. She didn’t even apologize for it!!! They did give our last 2 margaritas for free but that wasn’t enough to make up for everything else. My whole meal should’ve been free but I’m not one to complain. Life’s too short but I’m sure as hell never going back there!!! I recommend you do the same. On another note — while we were sitting there a couple walked in, sat down, and after about 5 minutes they hurried out of there saying they had to go. The service was very slow so maybe they had a 5 minutes rule! In conclusion — find another Mexican restaurant. This one isn’t worth it.

I went to Casa Felipe last night with a girlfriend for dinner. I had eaten at Casa Felipe before but only take out. The ambiance of Casa Felipe is meh. The chairs felt a little wobbly and the décor feels a little cheap. However, the location of the restaurant is fabulous(and you can usually find parking). If you’re in the mood for Mexican and don’t feel like paying Rosa Mexicana prices, it is good bet. The food was good to excellent. I really enjoyed my vegetable fajita and the portion was generous. The waitress also gave my friend and me ample time to talk and appreciate what looked like the manager walking around and asking people if they needed anything. In a nutshell, if you want a margarita to help forget the day and/or just need that scoop of guacamole it is a perfectly fine restaurant.

There’s no way this is Mexican food. Maybe Mexican inspired, but not Mexican. What should have tipped me off was my server not know what carnitas was. Also no tomatillo! The food is more Caribbean tasting than Mexican. I suppose you could say an American went on a cruise and came back as a chef. There were whole bay leaves left in my burrito. Don’t get me wrong, the food was edible, but lacking. The server was also rude and had no clue about any of the food. If you’re stuck at a conference and have no where else to go this would work. The pricing is decent for DC so you can’t be too upset with food and service.

I love this place! They have been my favorite Mexican place in Alexandria. I discovered them from the Eat24 app, actually. That’s definitely one of the benefits of this place… they deliver! I order delivery probably once a week. I appreciate that they take the time to pack up the food neatly in reusable plastic containers, and they try their best to make the presentation nice even though the food is coming via delivery. Their chile relleno with beef is awesome. I also love their chicken fajitas! I have visited the actual restaurant only once, but it was a pleasant experience. It’s a small neighborhood kind of place. When I ordered delivery from them last week I actually told them I was moving soon so they gave me some free sodas with my order! The food and the service are both excellent. I’ll miss this restaurant!

I stopped in for a drink and something small to eat. The 1800 Margarita was good and the salsa and guacamole was very good. The chips are better than your average restaurant chip. The wait staff could be a little more attentive. That’s my only complaint.

So I read the other reviews before I ordered. I just wanted some Mexican(even Mexican style) food. The order was delivered very quickly. I ordered Fish Taco(Cod) and the appetizer sampler. Fish Taco– Little tough, definitely of the frozen variety. Had a little grill flavor, not much on seasoning. The actual way the taco was constructed was a little weird. It was like a fish hot dog. I was hoping for chunks. The packaging didn’t allow fro steam escape so there was the expected soggy tacos. Appetizer Sampler– Wow. What a thrown together hodgepodge of bad ideas and poor execution. Empanada? Yes I know that every country has a empanada variant, but stick with your countries style and for god’s sake FROZEN? The other item of note was a congealed mass of hamburgerish, cheese, nacho thing. I did not eat more than a taste. I knew then that they had made a mistake and sent me their pest repellent by accident. Some poor animal is dining on my food. Ok that was a joke, but I can see no other

Two thumbs up! Hubby and I stopped in on Saturday night after a movie. It is a small, quaint place with a friendly staff. I asked about the ‘mole’ sauce and the waitress brought a sample out. Loved it! I ordered the mole mexicana/enchiladas and yes, I’m a new fan. I will definitely order this again soon! I was so stuffed after the chips and salsa that I took most of it home and had it for lunch the next day. Haven’t tried drinks here yet but will next time as we will definitely be back. This is a good, quiet date spot for about $ 40.

I’m no expert in authentic Mexican food. But this, imho, is not it. I hesitate to give it two stars. Anyway, my co-worker suggested this place since it was close and cheap. In this part of Old Town, options are limited(especially when you compare it to the variety on King Street). So let’s just say that I had low expectations. Walking in, I was underwhelmed. This place is small and kind of dingy. A large party took up nearly half the restaurant, and although we were seated promptly, it took almost 10 minutes for the lone server to take our drink order. After waiting that long, we knew exactly what we wanted. I let the server know we were ready and she wouldn’t take our order. Like, stopped me before I could say chimicanga, wouldn’t take it. But what she didn’t say was I’m going to make a slew of frozen drinks first, deliver some food, and then come back in about 10 minutes. Note to self — try to avoid small sit-down restaurants during lunch time unless I’m in it for the long haul. The place was just understaffed. We munched on a pitifully small basket of chips and salsa after we ordered. My co-worker could have eaten it by herself. The first basket is free, but after that no more freebies. When our food finally did arrive, I started enjoying my lunch portion shredded chicken chimicanga. Things were going ok until I saw what looked like bone in my chimicanga. Which wouldn’t have been totally weird since it was shredded chicken. But I looked closely and saw that it was a toothpick. That’s right, a toothpick. I guess during the deep fry process they put it in there to hold its shape, and forgot to take it out before serving it. Maybe the cheese covered it up? I’m not really sure, but I can tell you that I would have been just fine without it. Barring this, the food was ok. Beans needed some salt, rice had minimal flavor, and the chicken was tender. I probably won’t be back.

Just ordered delivery and it was delicious. Compared to the other option for delivery I think this stood out. The food arrived fast, order was perfect and food tasted fresh! I have no complaints from this experience and think everyone should consider Casa Felipe when ordering in!!! This review is NOT fake! #truth

I am shocked to see 5 star reviews here, and am a little suspicious of some of them, frankly. If you click on the«banned» reviews section there are tons of 5 stars that seem obviously fake and luckily were caught — I hope this restaurant is not trying to boost their stars by faking reviews. I stopped here for lunch and started with a big strawberry margarita, which was tasty and the best part of the meal, and their free chips and salsa. The chips were colored and the salsa came in a very small portion and was a little unusual tasting. It tasted more like a smokey bbq sauce to me. It wasn’t necessarily bad, but a little weird. I got an appetizer of a pork soup, which was lukewarm and the pork was really dry. This also seemed strange to me that pork could feel so dry in my mouth when it came out of a soup, but it just wasn’t very good. I wish it had been hotter and the pork had been cooked better and then I would have enjoyed it more. On their menu they had a taco lunch special where they said to pick any two tacos for a lower price. Fish tacos were listed as an option on there so I asked for a chicken and a fish taco. The waiter looked a little awkward and then explained to me that they would have to cut open a whole fish in order to provide me with one fish taco and could I please NOT get a fish taco. Again, I found this to be kind of weird and really bad restaurant policy to offer something on the menu and then have to tell customers«no» — not because you are out of something, but because providing the food would be a pain. Not good. I ended up getting two chicken tacos then, because I already knew I did not like their pork and didn’t feel like beef. The tacos were another weird experience — the meat was kind of bland and flavorless and it was basically meat with a huge pile of cilantro in it in place of something like lettuce or shredded cabbage or something. I hate cilantro so picked it all out and it was a lot. Then the comedic part — the pico de gallo had NO tomatoes in it. I didn’t realize it was pico de gallo at first, and was wondering what the pile of green and white stuff was on the side. Then I remembered that the guy had said the meal came with pico de gallo! It was gross, and it was NOT anything like real pico de gallo. In the end, I was extremely underwhelmed by the food mostly because it was bland and didn’t have any tex/mex flavors to it! I also wish I had been able to eat the fish tacos as it said on their menu. In the end, the only good things I can say are that the waiter was friendly and I liked the margarita. The rest was just a little weird. I definitely wouldn’t come back here.
