It was okay. My parents loved the happy hour BUT they have officially closed for business. I think maybe 2weeks ago was their last day.

i don’t know why, but i love this place. sure, it’s more tex-mex meets gringo mexican food, but it’s pretty tasty and super affordable. and c’mon you gotta love the cheazy sombrero they give you as they are singing happy birthday to you. the salsa and chips are so addictive and their margarita isn’t half bad. and yes, i’m coming to you.

I took my family of 3 here about 4 weeks ago when we first moved here. We were in the mood for Mexican and this just happened to be close to where we were. This was our first time to eat here. It was pretty busy on a late Saturday night. We were seated quickly with no wait. The menu was pretty extensive so it took us a bit to figure out what we wanted. My wife and I ordered a couple of premium margarita with an extra shot. I think the price was around $ 10 each. They were good. We ordered the table side Guac. to start which was very tasty. We even asked for extra cilantro. No charge. We ordered a little of everything. Tacos, enchiladas, Burittos, and tamales. All were hot, fresh, and delicious. I really had no complaints. The atmosphere was fine and the waitress was friendly, fast, and helpful. The prices were average. Will be coming back.

I come here all the time. Service is decent and the food is really good. Prices are very reasonable. I can feed my whole family for like $ 35 + tip.

I’m not a self-proclaimed foodie, but I like darn good food at decent prices. Don’t think that’s too much to ask if I’m going to pay you to make some food rather than cook some at home. So I went there for dinner at 630pm on a Sunday night thinking there might be a decent crowd but was surprised to see the place empty. Dad always told me to steer clear of empty restaurants and skinny chefs… should’ve listened. I haven’t been to a Chevy’s since I was a kid and only went because I remembered them having fresh tortillas. Coming from a guy who grew up in the Southwest(as in Texas, New Mexico and California for those in the area that might need to get out more lol), I was disappointed in the tortillas if you can call them that. It was good bread, but not really fresh tortillas. They are way too thick and almost like pita bread. The rest of the food quality was ok, but not worth going out to get The interior was drab and well worn and a bit musty smelling… really a depressed look and feel. Chili’s and Applebee’s are cleaner and more welcoming. Service was ok… but not good. Wait staff was hanging out sitting down in the restaurant playing on their phones and chatting in a group the entire time. Did not strike me as the most professional thing. I believe the reason why they are empty is also related to their overpriced food. They have substandard décor, food quality and service even compared to a Chili’s or Applebee’s, but they want to charge higher prices. Quite frankly, I’m not sure how they stay in business. They are trying to charge more for a meal than my favorite places on the beach in Hermosa… without a view of the water, good service, good food or a good ambience. Bottom line, I won’t be back. Applebee’s or Chili’s are even better… in every way.

I almost always get fajitas at Mexican restaurants, but I don’t get them here. I’ve had them here before and they are pretty tasty, but they cost about $ 18. I think that’s quite a rip-off. I generally order steak tacos now which come 2(huge ones) to an order and that fills me up just fine for about $ 12. Their salsa ranks among the best I’ve had. It has a sweet and smoky flavor, and a brick red color that I have not seen/tasted anywhere else. Paired with their light and airy chips, resistance is futile. Margaritas are awesome here. They have Happy Hour til 9:00pm in the bar!!! Service from the bartender was lacking tremendously, but there were atleast 8 full tables and people sitting at the bar, so he really should have had more help in there.

This copy of the popular Tex-Mex chain is pretty tired looking — as are the wait staff. Two visits were enough for me in this Route 1 copy. There was a time when I liked to frequent this chain at a new and clean copy — but the food is just… meh. It’s disappointingly true-to-form that the nearest Mexican joint serves food that is relatively tasteless — but it’s a huge national chain, so who is to blame? The chain or the consumer who goes there knowing that? The consumer. Decent Tex-Mex and Mexican are simply cuisines without a home here in the DMV area — except for disturbingly authentic places like Cerrito’s in South Riding, it’s just the rule of thumb that it’ll be bad. So there’s the bad, what can I say that is good? The chips, when fresh, are fantastic — well worth an extra bowl and salsa. The basic fajita style enchilada is my favorite thing here, but be warned it can be served w/o enough sauce — ask for extra and you’ll be set. The portions though plentiful just demand care to add hot sauce or whatever kick-it-up-a-notch substance you prefer. I added some lime to taste — that helped. Firmly in the ‘Meh’ category.

First time eating at Chevy’s. The smell of food & friendly staff greeted us soon as we walked through the door. Our waiter was very patient in explaining ‘what comes with what’. My Patron Margarita could’ve been a little stronger… but hey no complaints! Food was great, atmosphere was great & customer service was great!

Almost no one spoke well enough English on my first visit, yes I realize this is a TexMex but when you can’t communicate with the waitstaff it makes life difficult. Apparently they were known for their tequilas, there was no separate tequila menu. The server, although very nice and attentive didn’t seem to really know what tequila was or which ones were offered. The food was mediocre. On my second and last visit my cousin’s food had a hair in it. The waitress seemed very unapologetic and unconcerned. A manager never came over to apologize until we called him over. The margarita was good. I had the fish tacos, again mediocre and afraid to eat the food for fear of more hairs. Never going back unless I’m already wasted and need another drink.

I’ve been to this Chevy’s a few times. For the most part, the service has been good and the food is decent. So why the 1 star? Well, last night I ordered take-out for my family. As we were eating, my wife bit into something hard. Turns out it was a piece of glass. She bit it hard enough that her jaw was hurting all night. Digging through her burrito, she discovered at least 2 more shards of glass. I called the restaurant and told the person answering the phone, who immediately seemed concerned and got a manager without my asking. The manager did apologize, but I don’t feel understood the magnitude of this — eating glass is not really a good thing. She offered for me to come back in and get something else, but obviously that wasn’t happening. She did refund once I asked for it, however the lack of concern on her part seemed surprising. I hope some effort was put in place after to ensure that there wasn’t any more glass in anyone else’s food, but I was not encouraged by the conversation.

This was my first time at a Chevys. Chips were a little flimsy and all broken up. But the salsa was good! Roasted peppers and cilantro. Oddly, no tortillas were available??? Also no cheese sauce or relish like I’m used to at other places. Oh well… not every place can be great… For dinner, I ordered the Chevy’s Super Cinco… it was a chicken enchilada, beef enchilada, taco, chili rellano, and a tamale. AND, you have to order sour cream and guacamole as an extra side at $ 2 and $ 3 each respectively. Not too happy about that! AND for an extra $ 5 you would think you would get more than just a little dollop of each… but no… Anyway, I was hungry, and at least the food was tasty. The server was ok, did the minimums… no bad, but nothing too friendly or extra(took order, brought food, brought check)… had to ask for a water refill… He very much wanted me to give this place only 2 stars… but like I said, the food was tasty, and I’m sure other servers are much better than my one experience…

I am always pleasantly impressed within Chevys. The food is cheap(not much more than Moes, Cali tortilla, chipotle, baja etc.) but an actual restaurant with everything you need on the menu. Best part is the happy hour every day of the week including weekends. Half priced apps and drinks from 3 – 9 every night. We can eat a full dinner and drinks there for almost nothing. Just have to eat at the bar tables.

Nice Chevy’s on route one in Alexandria. Food was good overall, steak for fajitas was very bland like an unseasoned pot roast. Chips and salsa were fabulous as usual and the star of the meal. Our young waiter was pleasant although he didn’t spend much time in the dining room, he was most likely pulling double duty in the kitchen. Everyone enjoyed the food, I would recommend this Chevy’s to anyone wanting some great salsa and chips along with some decent Tex Mex food.

Chevys is one of the better tex mex chains in the area. Their menu variety & specials stand out among the other places I have been to. I usually get the portabella mushroom fajitas served with black beans, rice, veggies, and that oh so tasty corn salsa. Their tortillas are quite fresh as they make them there on site. I have also tried their custom guacamole where the server comes to yor table & makes the guacamole in front of you just the way you want it(more jalapenos for me please). Their fried ice cream is an indulgent sin, but you may want to share, this place has generous portions. Try out their margaritas, they have lots to choose from & even a happy hour. Pros: good price, good food, good service, military discounts cons: can be loud sometimes, appetizers are a bit overpriced

2 stars at the most and I’m being generous with that rating. I’m not much of a fan of this chain and wonder how they keep themselves in business. The mexican food here isn’t very good, its greasy and tastes like it’s been either pre made or processed. Additionally, I think they use a lot of flour in their process. The chips they serve you before your meal are bland and the sauce tastes watered down. The last time I ate here I ordered a burrito and I don’t even think I ate half of it. It was that bad, not enough spice, tasted bad, and upset my stomach afterwards. I won’t go out of my way to come here again. That’s for sure!

I’m not about to review this place by saying«NOTAUTHENTIC» blah blah blah because that would be like trying to say Taco Bell sucks because it’s not authentic mexican food. No kidding. That being said… I love Chevy’s. It is close to where I live so I end up going here a lot. The chips are free(YAAAY) and freshly baked. The salsa is also really good. I love pretty much everything on their menu. I recommend the flautas. Or if you’re trying to eat more on the healthy side try the Fajita Salad with Apple Vinaigrette. So why am I giving this place 3 stars if I love it so much? Well… there would be one tex-mex chain restaurant that I love more than this one. It starts with a G and ends with uapos. And that is all I will say about that. Still… Chevy’s is closer to me and it’s great.

2.5 stars My first experience with Chevy’s was back in my undergraduate days. It wasn’t anything like authentic Mexican, but they meant it when they say FRESH. I remembered the fajita being quite tasty. I haven’t been to the place in 9 years and decided to revisit it when I saw some coupons that came in the mail. The quality have gone down since my undergraduate days. The fajita came in a huge contraption, but the actual quantity of food was smaller than what you would get at local Mexican places. I am positive the chicken and steak were cooked before hand and warmed up judging by the speed the food came out and the dryness of the meat. Perhaps, I could have gotten a fresher fajita if I came when they were busier? A side order of guacamole was literally only two tablespoons and had too much tomato and not enough avocado. To their credit, I did like the thin tortilla and salsa at Chevy’s.
