What a great place to come to relax and pamper yourself. My husband got me a gift certificate for Christmas, and I am so grateful that he chose Fountains as I had a wonderful experience. First, I had a facial with Suzanne who is not only the one of the sweetest women I have ever met but she was very informative on what I need to do to make my skin in the best shape of it’s life, which I needed. In my opinion she went above and beyond with the facial and removed tons of blackheads for me. When I saw the end result I was absolutely amazed at how fresh and clean my face looked. My skin looked phenomenal, just radiant. My gift certificate also included reflexology so half way into my facial Francis came in to work on my feet. OMGeeeee — He sure knows what he’s doing. He used the perfect amount of pressure and made sure to work on all my achy spots. I can’t even begin to tell you how good this felt as it’s one of the best reflexology sessions that I’ve ever had(and I’ve had many that were not up to par) but Francis blew it out of the ballpark. He was fantastic. I was so pleased with my services that upon checking out I went right ahead and booked both a facial and reflexology for February. Going forward this is now going to be my go to spa!

I had an 80 minute combination massage with Deserae. She’s one of the most gifted masseuses I’ve experienced! I have TMJ and chronic neck/shoulder tension from a stressful desk job(par for the course in DC). I told her about these issues and she offered either a focused massage only in these areas, or the works with some special attention to these issues. She reassured me we’d have time for either, and she was right! I left feeling so relaxed with all the knots worked completely out. My only wish is that I’d booked it after all the holiday stress was over! I guess I’ll just have to go back… Sigh :)

The massages here are good, but the receptionist I dealt with was the worst — both on the phone and in person. She was rude and acted as if she was being inconvenienced. They need to improve their customer service. I would also agree with some of the other reviewers that they are not very good about honoring their gift certificates. If you’re planning on purchasing a gift certificate for a massage from here, try elsewhere, as there are much better alternatives in the area.

So unfortunate because I really wanted to enjoy this place with my mother for her birthday. We made plans to have a day spa date together tomorrow and my mom got sick from food she had eaten earlier today. We called to cancel the appointment at 2:30pm and the appointment was for the very next day at noon. Instead of just canceling our appointment seeing as it was only 2 ½ hours past 24 hour cancelation policy they proceeded to tell her that they were going to charge her $ 104 anyways. My mom explained that her children made the appointment without her knowing and it was an unexpected that she didn’t feel well. They had the audacity to say that she should have her kids come instead and take over her appointment for her because it didn’t matter what the situation was and that the company needed to keep her massage therapists happy. She said they are literally the best massage therapists she’s ever«seen» I guess seeing them proves they are the best instead of getting the service done themselves? I understand that there are cancelation policies but you have to tell people before you make appointments! And it’s not like we didn’t call to cancel. Just because you are a small company as the woman on the phone had stated doesn’t mean you need to be money hungry. One thing I do know, you keep thinking that making your massage therapists happy and NOT the clients who are paying their fees then you won’t have money to pay them or to keep your«small» business growing. *food for thought* *Update* Response to owner. Your message sounds so nice compared to how your receptionist spoke to us over the phone. Maybe you should have been the one speaking to us and not your receptionist. And she refused to give me anyone’s information including hers. It’s disgusting how your company handles these types of situations and the fact that you just completely lied on your response to my review just shows what type of «company» you are running. Good luck!

I have been a customer for years. Though it’s not the best massage, you can always count on a good one.

My son and his fiancé gifted me an 80 minute Combination Massage. I had not been to this spa prior to this, but I will certainly be returning. The spa is beautifully decorated and the ambiance is very relaxing. The staff is very professional and accommodating. My massage therapist was Terron. I told him where my trouble spots were and he concentrated the majority of the time to those areas. Often, after a massage, I feel I need another one due being sore the next day. This did not happen. Terron used the perfect amount of pressure and I left feeling 100% better than when I arrived. I enjoyed the service and treatment so much, my husband and I will celebrating our anniversary with a couples massage this weekend! Thank you, Terron and Fountains Day Spa, for a wonderful experience :)

I had a deep tissue massage here with Jessica recently and it was honestly the best massage I’ve had in as long as I can remember. I told Jessica my problem areas-I get major knots in my upper back/shoulders/neck-and she offered to focus the entire session on those areas, which was awesome. Usually after a massage, I leave wishing it was deeper but not this time! I was so relaxed by the end I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to hold myself upright. She melted my knots and stress away — those are some very strong and talented! Thank you Jessica! I will definitely be coming back.

Each year, I try to take myself in for a facial– my way of caring for both my skin & my soul. This year, I tried Fountains Day Spa. It took me more than an hour to get here from DC(via mass transit), but it was every bit worth it. Lauren at the front desk is pleasant and proficient, keeping things running smoothly. Meena, the esthetician who did my facial, has such amazing hands and is very knowledgeable. I had not have Guinot facials before, but the products were gentle: no stinging, no burning. But I think it’s the technique that really works: the galvanic current that tingles and the facial massage that soothes. Meena is trained as a nurse, but she has the hands of a massage therapist: so many different strokes that soothe your facial and neck muscles and get the blood flowing. Meena also cleaned up my eyebrows, which I haven’t had time to tend to in a month. She tweezed them into a beautful shape while I was lying down, with my face relaxed. It was less expensive than threading in DC(also reviewed on here) — and looked so, so much better!(Note: you have to ask for your eyebrows to be done before the facial. Afterwards, your skin shouldn’t be in the sun too much or have any sort of trauma, like tweezing or bleaching) I hope I’ll be able to go back for another facial before a year is up. It’s pretty pricey for my budget, so it’ll be awhile. But I’m already looking forward to next time when I’ll try for another Hydrodermie plus eyelash tinting, which they also offer, but with *dark blue* added to black dye to make my blue eyes stand out.(Also reasonably priced, like the $ 23 eyebrow tweezing.)

Do not use. They did not honor a gift certificate I purchased for my wife for her anniversary. I tried to contact the owner of the spa, but they would not call me or try to work anything out. This was/is a legitimate valid 500.00 gift card that they will no longer honor. No my wife and I are out 500.00 and a very nice anniversary present. We will never use them again, and my wife will not recommend them to her friends.

My son gave me a gift certificate to Fountains Day Spa for a Mothers Day. He did GREAT! I made an appointment for a massage and facial. Should change the name to Fantastic Day Spa! Walking In the place smells lovely. Instantly felt warm and welcoming. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. Offered me a glass of Lemon and cucumber infused water. First I had a 55 minute massage. Magic fingers. I was so relaxed I have forgotten her name and my own. Next I had the signature facial. My sign glowed. I can not remember my skin looking and feeling so great. Recommend everybody I see to go to this Fantastic Day Spa! Beth Hulfish

Very impressed with the management of this place. They really care about your satisfaction and will do whatever it needs to meet your expectations. Cant stop recommending this place to my friends. It is all about good customer service and this place has it all, great service from front desk, to estheticien to management. It is absolutely my new go-to spa.

Buyer Beware – Anyone who is interested in visiting this establishment should be aware of the following: Do not purchase gift certificates unless you plan to use them within the time allotted. Fountains Day Spa prides themselves on «personal approach» and the feeling of «sense of belonging and caring». However, Fountains Day Spa does not apply that concept when customers have certain circumstances and our unable to use the gift certificate within the time period allowed. Personal Experience: my husband surprised me, with what I thought was an amazing one-of-a kind($ 445) spa package for Christmas. Since we had a little one and I work full-time I was planning to save the gift certificate for the upcoming Mother’s Day weekend. However, I became pregnant and could no longer get massages(doctor’s orders). Fast forward to delivery-I had an emergency C-section which led to a longer recovery time. I scheduled my massage appointment directly following my postpartum appointment. Come to find out the spa would not accept my gift certificate that had only expired a little over a month before making the appointment. The staff was beyond rude and unaccommodating. I also, tried reaching out to the owner and was told she does not take phone calls. Fountains Day Spa will tell you, your expired gift certificate funds have been donated to «charity»(without providing proof) and require you to pay for the services again with only a 20% discount. While researching gift certificate policies of other salons this is not normal business practice within the industry. In addition, after my experience I read the reviews on Google and Unilocal more closely and noticed I’m not the only customer to experience such appalling, terrible and horrible customer service. For a company that«provides exceptional service» and has high end pricing they do not provide adequate customer service. You are guaranteed to receive better customer service at a more affordable spa than from Fountains Day Spa. Buyer Beware! Be sure to read all reviews!

I have been going to this spa now for a few years and have been meaning to do a review. This place is great! Highly recommend the hydro-dermi facial. It uses mild electric currents to stimulate the skin and I always walk out of there looking younger! Love it! Suzanne the owner is the nicest lady… I love our chats when she’s giving me the facial. Great place… reasonable prices.

I had an excellent experience at The Fountains. I had originally came in with a SpaFinder gift card but will plan on coming back again. I had a Swedish massage with Brandi and she was excellent. She listened to what I liked/didn’t like and applied as appropriate. It was extremely relaxing. I did cut it close for my appointment but since everyone was running on time, I was able to still get in and start on time and get my full hour of service. Prices were very good for this area and I definitely got my moneys worth! The entire spa was adorable– the receptionists were super nice and it was extremely easy to make an appointment and follow up. It’s in an old house on the edge of Old Town Alexandria and the ambiance was definitely there! I will definitely be returning.

I scheduled a Hydradermie facial at this place one week before my wedding, and I love the fact that they are open during the evenings(until 9PM on weekdays). The spa area is on the small side but the whole place itself reminds me of a cute, charming cottage. The facial experience was very relaxing and left my skin feeling smooth and well moisturized. I typically get dry skin especially during the winter, and the facial from Fountains Day Spa definitely helped with this. I’d be interested in trying their Guinot products and would go back for more facials in the future. The minor reasons why I notched the rating down one star is that they only accept cash tips and that this place is a bit pricier than my regular aesthetician.

I love this SPA, price is decent and quality of service is excellent. I had my microdermabrasions and chemical peels there and great results every time. They offer French, Guinot Product line and I love this place. The only problem was the traffic in Washington Street, but that is a life in the DMV.
