I have utilized this practice several times in the past and was not pleased with the treatment options offered.
On a recent visit, the podiatrist-​surgeon seemed more interested in operating on the tailor’s bunion on my right foot. Failing to interest me in that option, the best remedy he offered me was a cortisone shot to relieve the pain of my bone spur diagnosis. The shot helped for a couple of weeks, then I was back at square one, in pain again, looking for another podiatrist.

Went to see D. Garrett yesterday for what I thought was a foot sprain and to have an issue with my toes curling under each other assessed. I was referred to Dr. Garrett by my neighbor who recently had successful bunion and hammer toe surgery. The office was clean and the staff was nice (although the office building itself is a little sketchy– bad parking, not the greatest neighborhood, no lobby receptionist or security). Dr. Garrett was nice. He listened intently and made good eye contact. He somewhat dismissed the issue with my «curly toes» saying it was hereditary and would have to get much worse before doing anything. He gave me some foam spacers to use. I’ve seen some other doctors sites online and YouTube videos of curly toe surgery so I was surprised that he didn’t mention that as an alternative. He evaluated the ‘sprain’ and while he agreed that it was likely some trauma (likely playing tennis) that caused the issue, but overuse golfing after the injury kept the problem around for several nagging weeks. Dr. Garrett ordered X-​rays to rule out a stress-​fracture and decided that a cortisone shot was the best course of action as this type of inflammation can linger a long time as items impractical to ‘rest’ your feet as you use them everyday. A short blast of icy spray and an intensely painful 30-​seconds of burning and I was done. Injection site very sore for the balance of the day, but feeling much better this morning. Oh and he sent me home with a pair of orthotics to add a bit of additional support and comfort.
