Totally understated but amazing Chinese food that is quick and cheap. Their Kung Pao Chicken is great. Order it often. Nice I can walk there and get food fast.

I’ve eaten at this Chinese food takeout place about once a week since I moved around the corner 6 months ago. My only complaint is you can’t order online. The food is great, they are punctual and the kitchen is clean. I always get carryout so I can’t comment on delivery. The lunch special is a particularly good value. I think their Kung Pao Combination is excellent. I have also been really happy with the happy family, triple delight, egg foo young and their hot/sour soup. Haven’t had a regret yet.

Goody’s may not look like much, but they have amazing Chinese take-out with surprisingly good cheeseburgers and fried chicken. One of the best kept secrets of Old Town. Highlights — very fast — delivery — lots of options

Very much in the category of «good enough» Chinese take-out, but far from a place that will amass a loyal following. They deliver to the local area, including the Alexandria Westin hotel. May get again if in the area.

This is our go-to Chinese take-out restaurant. They have a wide variety of menu offerings and are reasonably priced. They’re nothing fancy, and don’t even have seats — but if you want delivery or take-out Chinese food in Old Town, you can’t go wrong with them.

I’m giving this a 5-star review to offset undeserved 2-star reviews from folk like Magic Mark L. Otherwise it might be 4ish, but it’s great for what it is. This place is your classic Chinese takeout joint. It has all of your Americanized Chinese dishes, served cheap and fast. Their fried dumplings are fantastic, and at 8 of them for less than $ 5, hell yeah! It’s not gourmet, but it’s as good as any other Chinese take out I’ve ever ordered from, and they are consistent! I call ahead, they always quote it will be ready in 15 minutes, I show up 15 minutes later and lo– there it is! In fact, I just did that 10 minutes ago(I always wind up searching Unilocal to get their number, which is why I saw Magic Mark’s review), so I’m going to go now and get them. I will try to take pictures of their takeout menu to post, as they don’t have it up on Unilocal

Magic Mark Words of Wisdom(MMWOW) #1: Takeout Chinese joints in bad neighborhoods tend to have good, spicy American-style Chinese food and supplement menu options that often include chicken wings, fries and subs. Yesterday, I had a hankering for Chinese, saw some positive reviews for this place on Unilocal and hopped in my car for a late lunch to head over there for carryout. You just have to love a place that has protective bars on the outside(as does its immediate neighbors) — it adds that slight element of danger and excitement to your day. In fact, I thought my food might be spicier and better as a result. This review is based on the Hunan pork lunch special with steamed rice. It’s carryout(and delivery only) — don’t try to eat there. A few metal chairs against the wall if you want to sit down while you wait. I kindly disagree with Justin S’s assessment that kitchen«looks pretty clean» — I think it’s arguable. Pros: 1. Quick and reasonable lunch prices; 2. Delivers(though I wanted to experience the«ambiance,» so I can’t comment on delivery service); 3. No M.S.G. Cons: 1. Parking not that good; 2. Steamed rice was dry; 3. They charge 30 cents extra to use VISA(against VISA contract)(not that 30 cents hurt me — but just annoying… I would rather see the food itself cost 30 cents more than to warn me I’ll be charged an extra 30 cents if I really want to use the card); 4. No M.S.G.(I’m not MSG fan, but it could have added some flavor). I will try the place once more for its wings. If they’re not good, there are plenty of better options.

They have great Chinese food! Cheap, good, and no MSG as far as I can tell. I ordered carry out and got chicken fried rice with crab ragoon. Huge portions all for the whopping price of $ 11.85. The child I was babysitting and myself enjoyed the food quite a bit. I recommend it for a quick option and they deliver within a 3 mile radius. The gentleman who delivered to us walked to our house. It was great! Highly recommended.

Good ass cheap greasy Chinese takeout! This is my go to spot in Old Town when I’m craving a cheap filling meal. $ 5 lunch special is enough food to put you to sleep or to cure a sunday morning hangover. They’re chicken wings with fried rice and mambo sauce is awesome! Everything else I tried is good. It’s one of the very few true Cheap Eats places in Old Town. A place where you can grab and go for some good food and not resort to boring Subway. I’d only knock down 1 star because of the appearance. This block is one of the few weird remnants of the time when Old Town was ghetto. Goodys has bars on the windows and a few questionable individuals always hanging outside. Inside is does not look anymore welcoming than the outside. Whats funny is that directly across the street are nice town-homes worth probably 500k+.

Goody’s offers everything one would expect and require from a low priced chinese takeout stop. The vegetables are fresh, the food is hot, and orders come out quickly. The kitchen can be viewed from the counter and it looks pretty clean. If you’re looking for quick takeout on the cheap, Goodies should do just fine. Update: My office has been next to Goody’s for a few years now and they’ve been nothing but predictable. 1-star bonus for long-running reliability.
