Hertz Rent A Car

Due to enterprise having no cars available I went with the local Hertz since it was with waking distance from my home. Half a mile the check the air pressure indicator came on. It was apparent that the front tire was a little low. I did what any normal driver would do and fill the tire to the appropriate pressure. I drove it around for over a week until I purchased a new car. It sat in my driveway for 3 days, unbothered. The day that I was to return the vehicle, I noticed the same tire that had low pressure was flat. I called to inform the local store about this and he person that answered the phone was quite rude and stated that I would have to fix it. I told him that his tone had a «I don’t care attitude». No apologizes were given and I promptly told him that he lost a customer before hanging up. I’m all about customer service bringing me back to a company and that person obviously lacked it.

Well, I booked a SUV onllne at MALLOY HYUNDAI HLE Store, located in Woodbridge VA. I arrive at the store around Wednesday 6^th, 8:00am ready to get the car I was expected and ready to drive 8 hours to my final destination, Buffalo NY.
The staff member told me that they did not have any Toyota RAV4 car for me, even tough I was booked that car. He told me that instead the Toyota RAV4 he had a COMPACT car available. I said, «I booked at SUV because I need a big car and you are offer me a Sonic COMPACT car? The difference is huge and I cannot get the compact car, I need the SUV please.» I suggested him to call another location to check if they have any SUV available, He says, «ok, but cannot go and get it because I’m alone here,» Ok. I told him I can go and get the SUV to the other location if that is the easiest way to have the car I booked online.
He called the other location at 501 S Pickett St, Alexandria, Va and they have a SUV! I drove from Woodbridge VA to Alexandria Va 40 minutes! Yes 40 Minutes from one location to another, 40 minutes to go and 40 minutes to come back.
I arrived to the second Hertz store and the staff member were very nice, at the Woodbrigde store the guy was also nice, he tried to help me in some way.
OK. I switch the Sonic Compact Car to a Nissan Rouge, it was not the Toyota but ok, I need to go as soon as possible, I had 8 hours driving.
I get the Nissan and the smell of dust was intense and the car was dirty, not only because you could smell the dust but also because two bottles of water were under the passenger sit (i discovered that later). I did not have any other option, I had to drive that car that day, otherwise I would have changed the company and the car that day.
To sum up, I arrive to buffalo 4 hours later that I was expected, and I returned the car the next day 4 hours later more or less. I used for 24 hours plus 3 more hours.
I told the the story I just wrote to the manager at the Buffalo Hertz office before to pay the rental.
When I was ready to pay they wanted to charged me $ 140 more!!! because I dropped of the car 4 hours later, they told it was three days! Here in The US and in China and In my country 24 hours plus 3 hours is not three days. Help me with the math please!
After further discussions and calls, the manager said that they will not charge me the three days, because of the situation in virginia and Arlington. I paid the amount that I was expected to pay.
I’m a Gold Plues Member of Hertz and I’ve been renting cars since 2013 more or less.
I’m thinking to close my account at hertz and change the rental company, this is not the first time I have problems with the cars, The last time I rented a car which had a lick in the gas tank!!! Yes, I could have blow myself up in the freeway and they gave me $ 75 of discount, my luggage was in the trunk and I lost some clothes because the gas went trough the trunk, yes crazy story. Beside that situation, I did not write any bad reviews that time, this time was too much. I paid the money and I expect to receive a good service.

I had a last minute need for a rental car and was excited that there was availability to reserve a car that morning to pick up later that afternoon. I reserved online thinking I could show up and drive away with a car but was wrong. Once I arrived, I was told there was no reservation for me and asked when I booked my reservation. When I said it was just that morning, I was then told that there were no cars available. I understand that sometimes people may return cars late, etc. and that yes, I did just book that day but left slightly annoyed that I could have booked through another company rather than wasting the time getting to Hertz only to find out there was no car. If you do decide to book through this location, I strongly suggest calling ahead to make sure you even have a car. If a car was not available, it would have been much appreciated if this was communicated to me prior to arriving or if other arrangements could have been made through another Hertz location. It was also unclear if there was even a car available for me in the first place which makes me question their online reservation system. I ended up taking my business to Enterprise and was very satisfied with the service I received there.

Walked in after getting my car impounded with my credit cards and the guy at the desk treated me terrible from the get go. Made me run home to get a card just for me to come back to tell me I cannot rent even though I had the ability. Terrible customer service and someone needs to teach them hospitality

I always liked this Hertz location because of the staff’s friendliness and kind service. But I have to let everyone know that after Sebastian came, this Hertz improved substantially in terms of its customer service quality.
I rent a car usually twice a month and always I get outstanding customer service from them.
1. I always get a ride from my house to their office on time (the drivers are always polite and courteous)
2. They give us the best no 1 club gold service which means that the paper work and car are always ready (I think their service is better than that offered by airport rent a car companies!)
3. The car is always clean!

Worst customer service EVER experienced. The two front desk persons, Will and Sebastian, were so belligerent, condescending and lacked a great deal of integrity. I have never been made to feel so insignificant; one just shouldn’t treat people that way. I refuse to ever do business with this location again, specifically working with these two guys. The ULTIMATE WORST!!!

The guy in the counter was very rude. I came in and he pretended not to see me and welcomed the guy that came after me. Total racist and chauvinist. The guy he talked to behind me even told him I came in first but he still completely ignored me so I just walked out. I would never ever rent from them again. Even my insurance can’t make me rent there. I told my relatives and friends how awful they are. They should be sued for very poor service, being racist and chauvinist.

My car appointment was at 5pm. I’m still waiting as I type this, & it’s now 6:24pm. Some people have been here even longer. Worst customer service I have ever experienced!

As a Hertz Gold Member who is in a Hertz car more than my own I can tell you from experience that this is not a normal Hertz. There is no gold member service at this Hertz location. You will be treated just like everyone else and there will be no expedited service. If you are in a rush or even abide by any type of schedule do not rent your Hertz car from here, you will be disappointed. I think I’ll just drive to the airport from now on and use the Hertz there.

The guys at this location are very disorganized. I reserved a car about a week ago, and they totally screwed me over. First they gave me the wrong address, secondly when I finally got there they were out of cars. I had to wait for two hour to get one.

Where do I start… I am never satisfied with Hertz but this most recent experience was the worst. I reserved an Economy car. Once I arrived, the lady attempted to run the auth on my card for «what she said» was the price of the rental (originally quoted at $ 84). I don’t typically have credit cards with a limit more than $ 250 to protect my credit. She informs me the card is declined… I’m like «that’s impossible.» So she says, «oooo I forgot to say it’s the price of the rental PLUS $ 200.»
So clearly, yes the card is declined because the limit is $ 250. I ask if I can use my debit card and she states that they would run my credit report to use it… NO, I’m not doing that because that is a waste of credit points (ppl with good credit don’t do dumb things like this). So I step out to call my cc company to increase the limit on my card, temporarily… no problem!
When I return, I simply «inquire» about how much it would be to increase to the next size up (from a Chevy Spark), which per the employee would’ve been a Mazda 6. She tells me the price difference which is ~$ 30 more, which I didn’t feel was worth the little change in space. She bargains to charge me $ 95 for it, which I still at this point decline. Fine… so I tell her to just book me for the Chevy spark at $ 84.
So then she says, «well when I checked the price for upgrade, I authorized your card and now I can’t reauthorize or it’ll decline for ‘phishing’.» So I’m like ok you prematurely authorized my card for an inquiry… whatever, where is the manager. He concurs that she cannot reauthorize, but that upon return the amount would be adjusted to charge the original $ 84. He assured me this would be no issue.
So, we take the car and I leave to make an appt while my fiancé does the «walk around.» We get ready to leave that evening to go out of town and: a) there is only ¾ tank of gas in the vehicle b) there are french fries, napkins, and the car is filthy (I have pics). So, I return the rental late the night prior to when it was due because of our work schedules. I check my statement and I have been charged $ 95 for the rental. I call the location and (of course) no manager is available, but they assured one would call back. Nothing for the next week, so I call back again. A «manager» is placed on the phone and I give the entire spiel of events. He says «ok, I apologize for your inconvenience and as a courtesy we will refund 50% of the cost you were originally supposed to pay.» I’m reasonable and agree since he is making an effort to make this right (or so I thought). He then says, «I will just run everything by my mgr and get it taken care of.» Of course, I don’t get his name because he is rushing me off the phone all while answering several other questions in the background.
It is now more than 30 days later, Still no response and no credit… I am currently fighting with corporate and my bank to handle this, but save yourself the unprofessional experience and stick with Enterprise!

Car rented was small and poor quality. although rental customer service lady was nice. It’s MORE than a week since I rented the car and I still HAVE NOT recieved nmy deposit back after being told that it would take 72 hours for deposit depending on bank. Enterprise is right down the street I will try them next time instead

This car rental agency is so unorganized… Don’t go there
Recent experience was this — car was to be ready at 7:30 am.(reservation had been made) Well they open/​arrive at that time! Sooo u wait while they open… Only 2 cars to choose from… Not cleaned Not full of gas. Only car w. decent size trunk was dirty outside/​inside/​no gas/​exterior was damaged.
Not even deserving of 1 Star Rating !!

Rented from them twice. Yes, it’s a small location but the individuals I dealt with were very nice. The last time I rented, I didn’t ask for satellite radio but the car came with it at no extra charge.
I normally rent from Enterprise and of course they’re great. However, Hertz ‘s rates with my AAA membership were better the last two times I’ve rented.

The most incompetent car rental representative that I have ever dealt with!!! Save yourself the trouble and a headache and deal with a different company. Enterprise requires that all of their employees hold a college diploma. This definitely isnt a requirement at Hertz!

Yes, this is a small operation with fewer cars available, but the staff, esp. Charles Morris, is great. Charles helped us exchange a wrecked car (some pretty wild drivers here) and we were back on road
quickly.
