Clean place. Not very busy. Foods pretty good for a change of pace. Could use a little more flavor. Friendly staff

Overpriced, underflavored, definitely underwhelming. Kochix(they have yet to pick a new name) is under new management, and, judging from what I have read from previous reviews, maybe the old management needs to come back. Having recently moved from the Annandale area, my fiancée and I were in the mood for Korean fried chicken. After reading the reviews, we decided to give Kochix a shot. I ordered three things on their menu: 1) 20 pieces of wings(10 soy and 10 spicy); 2) Haemul Pajeon(seafood pancake); and 3) Bossam(sliced pork with sides). Chicken: Being a regular at ChiMc and having more than our fair share of Bonchon and Cheogajip in Annadale and BBQ Chicken & Beer in Centreville, my fiancée, her mother, and I all agree that the flavoring was sorely lacking in comparison. The soy/garlic sauce was very weak and the spicy wings were nowhere near spicy. both sets of wings were so bland that, after mixing the two wings together, I couldn’t tell which wings were soy and which were spicy. The order comes with a tiny(see also: Ant-Man) side cup of pickled radishes. You can get MUCH better flavor from any of the three Annandale fried chicken shops. Haemul pajeon: The seafood pancake was tiny and literally dripping in(I think it was sesame) oil. I saved the oil drippings in a jar because my WD40 just ran out a few days ago. You can find better(and less expensive) Haemul pajeon at Lighthouse Tofu, Seoul Soondae, or even Yechon. Bossam: For those of you who don’t know, bossam is steamed pork belly that is placed with some spicy veggies and garlic in a cabbage wrap. It’s absolute heaven, if chomping on pork belly and spicy food is your kinda thing(which, in my case, it is). The bossam here tasted old and soggy. For the price they charged, they give you half of what you can get at To Sok Jip in Annandale. To be fair, Kochix gave us half the quality, too. Price: Way way way overpriced(other instances where I might use the term«way way way,» See also: Kardashian overratedness, how tired I am of hearing about both Trump and Hillary, etc.). My order came to $ 65 and change. I could have eaten Taco Bell at least 5 times for both my fiancée and me and still walked away with half the regret. For 20 combination(drumsticks and wings), ChiMc provides full-sized pieces that are more succulent and flavorful and charge a little over 10% less than KoChix. Haemul pajeon and Bossam, see above. I really do hope that this is just an issue of them shaking off some cobwebs in getting the new business started, because as of right now, the food here is as Korean as a pack of frozen burritos from Wal-Mart is Mexican.

Embarrassed to call this Korean. Seems they just reopened, or ownership changed — the food is pretty tasteless & greasy and over priced for the quality

A hidden gem in a plaza I didn’t even know existed. I live just 10 minutes away and never noticed this place. I love their soy garlic wings and mandu. Whenever I’m not feeling up for the wings I always opt for the Dolsot Bibimbap(two thumbs up). They’ve got self serve sides and cuts the sweetness of the wings perfectly.

So we got a coupon in the mailer. After reading reviews I wasn’t sure if I should even bother, but of course I did. I stopped in to get some chicken to go. They had quite an extensive menu which actually surprised me. They even had an area set up to do a lunch buffet it looked like. Staff was quick and very efficient. Food on the other hand was a different story. I’ll stick to chi-mc or even bon chon if I’m ever craving korean fried chicken. The prices here maybe cheaper but it just wasn’t the same. Not even close. I might be willing to give thier other korean dishes a try if I’m too lazy to go to Annandale but I highly doubt I’ll be coming back.

Great Lunch Buffet! Under $ 10! Hubby and I love coming here for the food and for the wonderful conversation with the owners! The food is very tasty, some hot, some not — All Delicious!

Overall, fair to good Korean restaurant. However, flavoring was too sweet for my taste especially for Korean cuisine. It wasn’t just for the main dish, but also for banchan they offer – at the bar(it was nice to be able to pick what and how much you want). The variety and taste of banchan was just OK.

Definitely the best Korean food in town. The wings are mouthwatering! Beware your fingers will be really sticky… But that God it’s #FingerLickingGood.. Kim-Chee is delicious. Service is great. The owners are both really sweet and generous. Say a couple Korean words and you will get treated like royalty. Can’t wait to come back when I visit Alexandria, Virginia again.

Just had the wings, both hot and soy garlic. Hot was good but not too hot. Soy garlic wings were fantastic, great flavor! Ms Kim really is quite enjoyable and the staff very friendly. My 10 year old loved the wings as well! I am giving this 5 stars not just because of the food but also how refreshing it is to have something new and different in Kingstowne that is not just another chain.

After a failed attempt to an hour wait NYE at the Chinese resturant next door, family came over here to an empty dinning room. The waitress was the biggest sweetheart, and made us feel right at home. Food was delicious, drumsticks amazing! I had Bulgogi and the endless kimchi sides were the bomb! Wasn’t disappointed about no hot and sour soup that night!

I had the buffet today and thought it was fabulous. Unlike some of the previous comments about the chicken wings, today they were plentiful, large, and crispy. I cannot comment on meals ordered from the menu, but the all-you-can-eat buffet for $ 8.99 is well worth the trip. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed! I never give 5 stars as that infers perfection and I have not found that restaurant yet.

I am so surprised at the low ratings for this place! I am a HUGE fan of Kochix, as I’m a frequent customer of their DC location(don’t even think about bringing up the other KFC chain that people seem to be hypnotized under/obsessed with; you haven’t tried KFC right until you’ve tried Kochix!) The menu is pretty extensive, offering their specialty of Honey-Spicy(offered in mild or in hot) and Soy Garlic wings/drumsticks; subs, and appetizers(dumplings, Vietnamese garden roll, etc.). I’d heard about their weekday lunch buffet, so I was curious in checking them out. They have a bibimbop area with delicious banchans(pickled cucumbers, radish, bean sprouts, kimchi, etc.), as well as spicy dwegi bulgogi, mini fried dumplings, sauteed mushrooms, fried rice, and their signature chicken(drumsticks only). I actually really enjoyed my meal! The bibimbop was really tasty, as the banchans were all deliciously seasoned and yummy; I loved that you can control the amount of sesame oil and gochujang you put in(bottles available at the buffet). The drumsticks, while not my favorite part of the chicken, were still quite delicious!!! Perfectly fried, perfectly coated with the sauce, crispy exterior — YUM! I loved how Mr. Choi, one of the owners, was very meticulous in making sure that the chicken was always freshly-cooked and monitored when there needs to be more delivered to the buffet!!! Talk about quality control! The spicy dwegi bulgogi was pretty good, too, cooked perfectly with the onions. The dumplings were okay, but still addicting. Ms. Vildan welcomed us so warmly and she was super sweet and friendly! The Chois, a husband-and-wife team, were both very sweet, and we got to talk with Ms. Choi for a bit as she shared a bit of history of the restaurant and the family business(the sister-in-law owns the DC location) :D Definitely will be coming back for them Soy Garlic Wings — the plus side is, while DC’s location is a carry-out only joint, this place has plenty of seats to dine-in! Check this great local business out! :D +best KFC: D +Soy-Garlic Wings: D +AYCE weekday lunch buffet(from 11−2PM) +ask for Ms. Vildan: D +ask for the Chois: D +dine-in option

I was driving by checking out the strip mall and came across this gem. I ordered the jap Chae and it was delicious, you get authentic flavors and a hefty portion. My son ordered the chicken wings and licked his fingers when done… great sign. I will return during the lunch buffet hour for a sampling.

Just drop by and got carry out. 20 wings. 10 hot, 10 soy Let down, hot taste like sweet chili, soy taste like normal, but bigger frown is not crispy at alllllllll!!! Paid $ 23.12 For semi OK wings. Bottom line guess I have to keep going to bon chon or chi Mc in annadale.

This was my first foray into the Korean chicken wing phenomenon, and all I have to say is that the Original Recipe Colonel had better watch out. These babies succulent, spicy, and delicious. The flavor of the wings was a complete flavor explosion. and I soon found myself ordering a second to-go order for dinner later that night. The only thing that bothers me about this place is that it is located right next to my favorite Chinese restaurant(House of Dynasty), making for a rather difficult dinner choice. I also found the prices of this chicken slightly expensive, but I guess that is to be expected in the Korean chicken wing arena. I mean, unlike KFC, you’re not likely to find Korean wings on every corner.

I am glad that this restaurant is nearby as I am too lazy to trek to Annandale for Korean fried chicken. This restaurant is also another good alternate to Popeyes and KFC. My family ordered fried wings and drumstick half spicy and half soy ginger. The soy ginger was good, but the spicy sauce was a little on the sweet side and not spicy at all. I thought the crispy texture on the chicken was good. We also ordered a plate of stir-fried spaghetti with veggies. The taste was fine. For those that are hard-core with how Korean food should be might find this option disappointing, but I think it’s a good accompaniment to the fried chicken. Service could used a little more work. After our food arrived, our server did not check in on the food nor refilled the water. I had to go up to the counter and ask. The food arrived quickly so that was nice.

I was thrilled when this new place opened, as I love Korean fare. I have enjoyed everything I have eaten so far, except the kimchi. I found it to be very flat and not at all crisp, almost like it was from a store bought jar over home made. I would love to see even more traditional dishes on the menu, in particular, having rice as a side option. I grew up in a Korean/American neighborhood, and miss things like bokkeumbap and kimbap, And if I could get Kimchijeon? I would probably faint after enjoying it! Another option for the lunch rush or those of us on the go? Dosirak! I wish the service was a bit more consistent as well. I have been in 4 times now, and 2 I was waited on like the only person in the place, and 2, I had to flag down the waiter for questions or water. Overall, I will keep coming back, as they seem to be steadily improving!

I was excited to see a Korean joint open-up in my neighborhood. I love japchae and was excited to order it. When I got it home, the dish had no beef in it. Instead, there was something stringy that I suspect was… squid? I think that they got the order wrong. The sweet-spicey wings were good, though. I’ll probably give this place another shot.

I was so excited to see a local korean joint nearby. It saves us a long trip to Annandale. Although it’s not as good as what you would find there, it’s pretty good for the convenience. It satisfies the craving. It’s a cute little restaurant with ample seating and a simple menu. The wings and drums with soy garlic and honey spicey sauce was really good. The japchae, bulgogi and bibimbap were decent considering it’s fast food. They are also very generous with HUGE portions. I would give 3* for the food and an extra * for convenience.

I really like this place. The service is great and the food is fresh and tasty. Their menu is similar to Bön Chon. I also strongly dislike Bön Chon because I don’t like waiting an hour for food. I don’t care how good it is – it’s unacceptable. BUTTHIS! This place serves similar sauced chicken drumsticks and wings(although slightly different and less greasy in my opinion) at a fraction of the time. We waited about 10 – 15 minutes for our food. We had the honey spicy sauce(hot — and they were not joking it was hot) on the wings and the soy garlic on the drums. Great flavor, very crispy. We also had the bulgogi. Awesome and a nice portion. The restaurant was also pretty chill for a Friday night. I’m not sure if they had beer on the menu, but if they don’t it would be a great addition. We’ll be back soon! Thanks, guys!
