I had to have my 2009 BMW 328i valve cover gasket replaced. BMW wanted to charge me $ 2000. Landmark charged $ 1100 and they do a better job than BMW and the customer service is superb. Max, Todd and their team are the areas best kept secret. I don’t even take my BMW to BMW for repairs anymore. Landmark Auto is my auto repair place to go.

Gotta give credit where credit is due and it’s definitely due for Landmark Auto Group. I took our Volvo there that was having a throttle body issue, I had called a «Mercedes and Volvo Specialist» also in Alexandria about the issue, described the exact issue, as well as providing error codes and stated what needed to be done, before I could even finish, it was stated that they couldn’t do the work and to take it to the dealer.
I heard about Landmark and took my Volvo there, the first time they were unable to duplicate the symptoms while the car was connected to their data logging. Todd (presumably the owner) told me to bring it back again and sure enough, the car acted up, Todd was able to diagnose and fix.
Great guy, great work and communication; thoroughly explaining exactly what was occurring and needed. The work was done quickly and reasonably priced — I’ll definitely be returning to Landmark.

This was the second time I used Landmark Auto Group to have my car serviced. My first experience, with Max as store manager, had been very positive, and that is what had brought me back today. Unfortunately, this second visit, with Todd as manager, turned out to be just the opposite. I brought the car in early, before 8 AM, because I wanted it back for a trip in the early afternoon. When I entered the office, I explained to Todd that I needed an oil and filter change, plus some additional standard checks (fluid levels, air pressure, etc. etc.) that are listed in the manufacturer’s periodic maintenance schedule and are routinely performed gratis by any and all automotive service clinics I have ever used. In addition, I asked Todd to do the VA safety and emissions inspections that were due this month. That was it. He printed out an invoice that totaled $ 112.27, which I then signed. I stated that I would like to pick the car up around 1 or 2 PM. and asked to be called when it was ready. I finally got a call just before 3 PM. When I arrived at the office, Todd presented me with a bill for $ 157.00+. When I inquired about the reason for the extra charge of ca. $ 45.00, Todd stated that that was for the «extra» checks I had asked for. I said, «excuse me, these are standard checks that every auto shop performs routinely and free of charge.» At that point, he quickly retreated and printed out a new bill in the exact amount, $ 112.27, of the original invoice. All I can say is, «caveat emptor» and «let the buyer beware of people like Todd.» Zero stars for Todd’s rip-​off attempt. I am raising that to two stars only because the service seems to have been performed satisfactorily … at least I have no current indication to the contrary.

Todd and Max were great yesterday! I had a problem with my 4Runner, they squeezed us in and accommodated us promptly. They were honest and very efficient. Would definitely go back for future auto care!

They helped me to locate a hard-​to-​find part for my VW Beetle. Worked with me over several weeks and the job was finished and I a, extremely satisfied with it. I highly recommend these guys!

They are the best mechanic shop around here. Max is very professional and knows what to do with problems of cars. His staff members are all knowledgeable and competent. I wouldn’t think of taking my cars anywhere else but here!

The customer service here is fabulous, max works so hard to make sure his customers get the best most efficient service. If your going to BMW save yourself the headache and the money the same quality, professional service is right here at landmark. Actually the service and professionalism is ten times better. My BMW X3 which I’ve had for years has always come here the only reason why I take my new car to BMW is because of the warranty but it’s night and day compared to the team at landmark. Also they have wifi and a convenient night drop box, this place is northern Virginias best kept auto secret!

Friendly, fast, efficient service. Called on my way from leaving DMV… Needed emission and safety test. They were friendly on the phone and said they could see me right away. I was hesitant when I arrived after seeing so many vehicles in their garage and parking. They did what they said… Took my vehicle in within 5 min of arriving. They informed me of how to file the test online with DMV. All of $ 44 and 20 minutes in and out… and all while being pleasant and with a smile on their faces… Love it!

Great Place! Got both my cars in for DMV inspection as walk in status when all other places would not. Max is a good guy, very accommodating!

Nice people. Max is an awesome guy and owner i think. He put on my mirror after an accident and even recommended the guy who does the detailing. He took off all the flaws of my vehicle. now it looks perfect. I will always go there if I need to have my car repaired.

I stopped here to schedule an emissions test and the guy took my car right in and did it. He let me know I would also need a safety inspection and took care of it. All four guys I met were so nice and made jokes with my daughter and her friend. Great group of people working here… I plan to come back for sure! They reminded me of small town quality service in a NOT small town that typical does NOT typically have good customer service anywhere!

Max is the best mechanic I’ve encountered. He works wonders on my 2002 BMW and is the only mechanic I will ever use going forward. He can diagnose a problem without fail and address and fix the problem without much fuss and cost. Landmark Auto Group is exceptional and will go to great lengths to ensure your car is fixed in a timely manner and at a great rate. I wholeheartedly recommend Max and Landmark Auto Group. Simon just fixed my BMW in 10 minutes. Ladies these guys won’t take your money and rip you off. These guys are the real deal. I’m not kidding.

This place is terrible. My fuel pump failed and I had my car towed to this place. They charged me 800.00 for a new fuel pump and new fuel filter. Later I found the new fuel filter in a box in the trunk and another mechanic told me they never installed it although they charged me the labor for it. Afterwards, my fuel gauge didn’t work, my airbag warning light was on and several other problems all caused by their shotty work. They cost me 2000.00 dollars at another mechanics shop to fix all of their problems. Avoid this shop like the plague.

AVOID! Asked my neighbor for a recommendation for a reputable auto shop. She said she had a decent expereince here. Made a reservation for a Tuesday appointment.
I’m not a car rookie, I know enough about cars to talk shop, but living in an apt. without a garage, I’m at the mercy of the local shops. I took my car here for a simple transmission fluid drain and fill. The mechanics called me after about 3 hours to inform me that my transmission was «leaking» and had a bad seal, they needed to replace a gasket. Total estimate ~$ 900 dollars but they’d have it back to me «before the end of the day.». They also told me they couldn’t drain and fill my transmission fluid unless the seal was fixed.
This is bogus for two reasons, first my transmission isn’t leaking (no staining on the ground or fluids visible on undercarriage, plus fluid levels check out normal) and second, you could easily fill and drain fluid, even if it was leaking. Plus the fact that they were going to dismantle my transmission to replace the seal and reassemble before they closed for the day defies logic.
When I went back to the shop I was like «show me the leak» they told me the lifts were filled and it would be about an hour before they could show me. Suspect. I’d go some where else if your in Alexandria, Tony’s in old town has good reviews on Unilocal

Max is competent. Prices seem fair. I’ve always had a good experience here.

I’m really shocked by these two reviews. I’ve taken my car in for a safety inspection for two years running and they do a great job. I needed to get a tail light replaced and the cost was well below what I expected. Sure it’s just a brake light, but it felt good that no one tried to take advantage of me. They even had one brought in from another location because they didn’t have the exact bulb I needed.

When buying my car, this was the shop the original owner used. I attempted to find a place closer to where I lived for work that I knew needed to be done. After checking about 5 other places, no one else could meet Landmark’s prices or service. Max, the owner, was very accommodating to my schedule as I live a bit further away. Alan, an employee (maybe office manager?), was able to find me parts at lower prices than anywhere else and worked with me to make sure I knew what needed to be done and how much it would cost. They did a lot of suspension work, mounted new tires, did alignment, and test drove the car to make sure it was all running well in less than 2 days (it took me longer than that just to get a quote from another shop). When I went to pick up the car, there were no surprises on the bill (some things were even a little less than they had quoted) and the car drove like a dream. Max made sure we knew what all had been done and answered all our questions before we left. I really appreciate the time they took to make all the repairs affordable and explain everything to me (who knows nothing about cars) and my fiancé (who knows a good deal about cars and asks real questions).
