We visit the Café & Store for the 1st time. The food was great; not ok, it was VERYGOOD. The server was very cordial, competent & and made our meal enjoyable. The menu is quite extensive, and reasonably priced. The have a «hard ice cream» counter, for diners, or shoppers in the store. We will be frequenting here, now that we’ve found it.

Wow, another first in Alexandria Indiana? Who would’ve guessed? Came here with a co-worker after she raved about their BLT. I asked my co-worker what else was good, and she said she only gets the BLT. My suspicion rises. AMBIANCE– first of all, this latte café is connected to a religious book/cd store(yeah, my suspicion is still on high). When you walk in, they have all kinds of books and other religious gifts. To the right is where the café is located. The place has a couple of booths and tables, and noen of them seem to match. SERVICE– I don’t know why I have such bad luck when I go out to Alexandria for lunch, but this place was packed on Thursday for lunch. SO much so that my co-worker and I decided to just bring our lunch back to work. The lady working the counter was nice, though extremely busy. MENU– this place is basically known for soup and sandwiches. They do have pastas, and they also serve café style drinks(ie mochas, lattes, etc.). Considering where you are, prices aren’t too bad. Sandwiches are $ 5-$ 7 or so, and come with a side of «veggie chips»(more on that later). You can also mix and match soup and ½ sandwiches. One last thing– they do have desserts(cakes, scones and such). FOOD– my co-worker got her usual blt, and I decided to rock a turkey club with the veggie chips. I also got a white chocolate raspberry scone, which was pretty darn tasty, though I’m pretty sure they just buy it from Sysco or something. The veggie chips are potato, carrot, and tomato chips. It sounds fancy, but it’s really not. They don’t make them from scratch, they just buy them in a bag, and put them on your plate. Not that tasty. As for my sandwich, I didn’t think it was anything I couldn’t make at home. It was wheat bread, lettuce, tomato, red onion, turkey and bacon. The turkey tasted like something I could get from Kroger or Marsh. OVERALL– I don’t know why everyone at my workplace raves about this place. I know some people like to go here because you can get salads and«eat healthy,» but honestly, it’s just not that great. I would just as soon go to subway for a $ 5 foot long. Yeah, it’s like that.
