Boy am I a dork. Or maybe if I write a review about my favorite playground in Del Ray I won’t feel like such a 36 year-old who writes reviews about playgrounds on Unilocal but instead runs around like a crazy monkey, climbing trees, chasing kids, and doing all those dangerous things on the highest parts of the equipment that make other parents shake their heads and wince. It’s Del Ray, so you’ll see your normal array of older parents on iPhones and smart phones, hoping their kids don’t wander off onto Mount Vernon Avenue. It’s a big space — two playgrounds actually. The little kids one is wonderfully shaded by a variety of giant trees which are super awesome hiding spaces. There are plenty of good trees to climb. Parking is easy and it’s just down the road from the Farmer’s Market and across the parking lot from the library. It’s not available when school Mount Vernon Elementary is in class, but then again, why would you be at the playground on a school /work day? Ugh!
