Sabatino Alterations

The woman made my pants way too short. I asked her to fix them, if possible. She resisted but finally gave in. And PRETENDED to fix them, for when I came back several days later, they were the exact same length. It was not the first time she botched an alteration; she left a bridesmaid dress way too long. Please note that I wore the exact same shoes each time I tried the outfits on. AVOID.

I needed tailoring done within 24 hours. I first hit up Suh’s Alterations on West St., but he said he could not do the job in time. I then wandered Su’s neighborhood and happened upon Sabatino’s.
The woman at the desk was a very friendly asian woman who greeted me as though I’m a regular customer. I immediately felt at ease.
The time was 4pm and I discussed with her my plan for what to do with this furry piece of cloth and asked if she could complete it by 5pm the next day. I was making a shawl out of a square yard of faux fur. Even though I could tell that English was not her first language, I only needed minimal explanation — she got it. She gave me a confident «yes» and charged me $ 20, which I was willing to pay after getting shot down by Mr. Suh.
The cloth I handed her looked messy, didn’t have perfect edges and didn’t have perfectly aligned measurements. Thus, I was worried that, with such short notice, the tailor wouldn’t have enough time to make this perfect. My worries were unfounded as my completed shawl was cleanly sewn and symmetrical.
I had to pick up my shawl 2 hrs earlier than I expected, but luckily it was complete when I arrived. Sabatino’s did great work in a short amount of time — I am one very happy customer!
