Don’t get delivery. I got the wrong order and it took an hour and fifteen minutes to be delivered. As you can imagine, it was stone cold. The food: spring rolls all bread; curry was all liquid, not much in the way of protein or veges; chicken skewers were tough. Maybe we got the short end of the straw for the night, either way, as Taylor Swift would say, we are never ever ever going back.

At home sick today, ordered Thai delivery. Spicy Tom Yum soup and drunken noodles did not disappoint! Fruit punch was particularly good and soothed my sore throat. Prompt, friendly, and courteous delivery.

Just tried this place for the first time. Ordered the Drunken Noodles, Pad Thai, Healthy Rolls and Papaya salad. Everything was excellent! Drunken Noodles was probably our favorite but the Papaya salad was stellar! The delivery service was very prompt. I’ll definitely order from here again!

Stumbled upon this place just walking through Old Town, such a great place if you like Thai food and you’re an enthusiast. They have a great variety of Thai specialties. Their tofu and curry is the best Thai I’ve ever had and it’s my new go-to Thai place. Small and cozy, nice quiet atmosphere, and speedy service. also has a bar for those who are interested. All around a lovely place for any occasion!

Came here for lunch with my girlfriend and we both got the lunch special. I got spring rolls, she got wonton soup, and we both got spicy chicken pad Thai. I’m pretty particular about my pad Thai but this one stood up to my expectations. The spring rolls were mostly wrapper, but nice and crispy. My girlfriend was happy with her soup. The atmosphere is… Interesting. It’s a colonial looking place which is odd for a Thai place but I found it quirky and oddly charming. I would definitely go back!

The Tom Yum soup is delicious. I got it with chicken. I also got the green curry with chicken. It was very good as well. As always the customer service is excellent.

This is a interesting spot to eat at. First of all, let me start off by saying the staff is so friendly and such a hard working crew. I really appreciated their dedicated hard work throughout the dinner service. Pros: 1.) great great great service 2.) cheap eats for what the area provides 3.) fast turnaround with each dish Cons: 1.) as pro #3 is a great pro it is also a con. Let me explain… My hubby and I ordered a pad Thai and a curry dish. After placing the 2 orders, I kid you not, our food came out in less than 5 minutes. My hubby and I were so shocked. I was thinking the food must have been sitting around for customers to order. I thought, wow this food is going to be stale and cold. But I was mistaken and I totally jumped to conclusion. The food was actually relatively freshly made. I was surprised. Then I thought that someone must have ordered our food and returned it to the kitchen for whatever reason. I still question the quickness in the food turnaround. 2.) the panang curry has no veggies and it only consists of the curry sauce and chicken. I would like some element of a crunchy texture in the panang curry. On a side note, speaking of the panang curry… Order an extra side of white rice. The one bowl of rice that the curry entrée comes with will not be enough rice for the amount of curry you get. 3.) the pad Thai noodles were a bit too mushy.

I really liked this place. We were really craving Thai food and since my recent attempts at homemade curry had been less than fantastic we wanted a new place to try. We ordered the green curry and drunken noodles both Thai spicy. Both dishes had great flavor hitting all the key notes with nothing missing. The heat was perfect and even as lunch portions there were plenty of both dishes for us to take home leftovers. The only draw backs I had were the spring rolls and sauce we not up to my standards of flavor and the rolls seemed sparse and lacking of ingredients. We will be coming back.

Pretty good duck curry great serving size honestly. The chicken panaeg was delicious. The chicken satay on the other hand was so so, that’s definitely needs improvement. But all in all better than what I expected.

I’ve ordered delivery from here many times and food is always really good. It’s my go to spot for Thai food in old town. Today I decided to try some new dishes from the special menu. The duck roll was pretty good, it was almost like a roti wrap, fusion for sure. Next up is the jungle lover with beef. I ordered spicy. It’s really good. Comes with rice. I highly recommend. The staff doesn’t speak much English, sadly. But I love this place!

Went here on a recommendation from a client and ordered a spicy chicken and eggplant dish. It was flavorful and the eggplant was cooked to perfect texture– not too dry and not overdone. Service was quick and courteous as well. Had a great take-out experience here– wish I had the time to stay and enjoy the great ambiance and view of downtown Old Town. Definitely on my list for a return trip for a full dining experience!

I can only speak for their delivery service, but we order frequently and the food is always excellent. They manage to keep the spring rolls crispy, which is generally not the case for delivery. I prefer my food mild to medium and my husband likes his extra spicy, and they get it right every time. It is definitely the best Thai food in Old Town.

Sang Jun is a large Thai restaurant in downtown Old Alexandria. I came here with two friends during Alexandria Day this past weekend. The restaurant features two floors, and has larger tables on the second floor for group seating. The furniture is dark and rather drabby, but the many servers and diners brings this place to life. I ordered the«healthy roll», which is a summer roll stuffed with rice noodles, carrots, cucumbers, and bean sprouts. It said it comes with a spicy peanut sauce, but it tasted like the usual peanut sauce. It was fine. I also had the mango and sticky rice dessert, and I was not happy with my dish. I ordered this dessert at I-Thai in Georgetown a few weeks ago(which I got for free when checking in to Unilocal!!), and it was so delicious. The mango was perfectly ripe and my fork cut the mango like melted butter. However, Sang Jun’s mango was slightly under ripe and tougher to cut with just my fork. The rice was clumpy and hard. The food was fine, but I was not impressed.

My order: Pad Thai and mango sticky rice I would have wanted to give at least one more star but I couldn’t bring myself to it. This restaurant was a major let down and NOT reminiscent of the food I recently ate in Thailand. — good customer service. Not the greatest but they refilled the water right away, always checked on me and my food, and put up with my attempt to speak a few words I picked up in Thailand. — decorated well. If you make your way up to the second floor where the bathroom is, you see pictures of the king and his family. If you know anything about the people of Thailand is that they love their king. — pad Thai was pretty good and I can eat it again. The only things that I had a problem with is that there were different ingredients that I don’t typically remember being in this dish including the green beans. Also, a 3 out of 5 spice level is NOT spicy at all. I had to ask for more spices to make it hot. They will give you the typical Thai condiments of vinegar with the chilis, pepper flakes, pepper paste, and fish sauce. — mango sticky rice was so tiny!!! They only give you ¼ of the mango which was not even sweet … It was more on the bitter side. Trust me I know my mangoes being Filipino and growing up on it. As for the sticky rice it was only a handful and spread on the plate to make it look like there’s more. Wasted $ 6 on this dessert for what should’ve been a $ 2 portion. Go to Thailand and they’ll give you more for a cheaper price. So it’s hard to give this place a higher rating since I know they could’ve done better especially when the people running it is actually Thai. About half of Asian restaurants are typically run by other Asians with a different background. For example, there are many restaurants run by Koreans but they serve Japanese food. But this place is Thai and run by Thai. So thanks but no thanks. I won’t be coming here anymore especially because the price isn’t worth the food.

3.5 stars on the national level; 4 or 4.5 stars for the local area I popped-by for pick-up tonight, and ordered the Pad See Ew and Red Curry. Pad See Ew with Beef: — noodles were back to their normal, non-mushy selves, which I was really happy about — flavoring was slightly off: way too mild and not quite right; something seemed missing — beef was too chewy and just pretty low quality Red Curry with Chicken: — superb quality curry: really delicious and impressive, especially for this area — chicken was decent — veggies were awesome: lots of options, including bamboo shoots, lotus root(yummy!), green beans, green bell peppers, and eggplant Super friendly and efficient service, per usual. I’m wondering if the cook may have changed from when I originally found this place… Hoping they improve, as this is one of my favorites in the area.

This is a review between 3 – 4 stars. On a busy Saturday nite where we spontaneously decided to go out, getting a table at various Old Town spots was an impossibility. Do we wandered into Sang Jun and were greeted with friendly service and seated promptly. I had eyed the menu board upon my arrival, which boldly stated ‘mango and sticky rice’(and it was on the menus too). My table ordered the duck roll, chicken wings and the ginger beef — all of which were devoured with relish. If you are sensing some irony coming on, you would be right. As soon as it was time for dessert we were promptly informed that there was no mango! They had sticky rice but that was it! The maddening thing was that it was prominently displayed on a board not far away from my head! I suggested that they should erase it from the board — as that had wet my appetite but the sever just laughed and insisted there was no mango. I might have ordered a rice dish for a main course had I known that I was to forgo this staple rice-dessert. I made do with green tea ice cream. I would recommend the Thai iced tea and the sticky rice with Thai custard which was ordered by the table. But next time, I won’t trust the board.

I love Thai food. Whenever I went to Thai I always have pad Thai, ssom ttam, Ttang mo ban, etc… Anyway I went this restaurant 3 times with friends. But last time very disappointed. I had pad Thai with chicken. It was extremely sweet and the noodle over cooked. And healthy spring roll was very dry. Texture was hard :(

I really wanted this place to be great. I really, really did. Because you know what they have? Tom yum noodle soup! That’s right people, tom yum soup in entrée portion. Because who is ever satisfied by that tiny appetizer serving of tom yum soup? No one who has sense. Tom yum soup should always come in a bowl big enough to be a serving vessel. So once the internet told me that Sang Jun was one of those rare gems that had the elusive entrée portion of tom yum soup, I was THERE. And then 30 minutes later I was kinda bummed. Not that the soup was bad! But it just wasn’t great. I guess I should have known better than to hope against hope that an «ethnic» restaurant on King St. would be anything but average. Here’s the breakdown. The broth was spicy, sweet, and sour, with a bit too much emphasis on the sweet. A little doctoring from the spice cart helped balance it out with some more spice. The noodles were okay, but they could have been firmer. But the main problem was the chicken – it was completely overcooked and dried out. I thought that might be a problem, since it often is, but the seafood option was $ 4 more. And it was scallops, mussels, and shrimp. Meh, how about just offering shrimp and charging $ 2 more than the chicken? I came for the tom yum soup, but I did try some other things, which only confirmed my suspicion that this place was not going to be my Thai food savior in the Thai food desert of Alexandria. The ginger chicken we tried was okay, but nothing special. Again, the chicken was overcooked, but at least the sauce on the dish disguised that a little. The curry puffs were an interesting starter, not something I’ve had before at a Thai restaurant. They reminded me of samosas. But they seemed to have sugar sprinkled on top? I suppose I will have to keep driving to the outer reaches of the suburbs for my Thai fix, and continue the search for the big bowl of tom yum soup of my dreams.

Would not recommend this place if you want authentic Thai food. We came during lunch, the lunch special was $ 12.95, which was kind of expensive. The lunch special came with a small appetizer, one entrée, and one drink. Service was horrible. Ordered two drinks, waited for the drinks for 15 minutes. Had to ask twice for our drinks, even though we were the only customers. I asked if they had sweet tea, and she answered yes. I was given tea with packets of sugar, which was not what I had in mind. Food was average. We ordered spring rolls as an actual appetizer. It was spring rolls with the sweet and sour sauce that’s used to mix with the chicken at Chinese restaurants, a bright red sauce. Authentic Thai places usually make the chili sauce, you’ll notice the difference, it’s a more smoother sauce with chilis in it. My husband ordered Pad Thai Gai which came out sweet! I ordered Pad Krapow Thai and the portion was small and the chicken was in big chunks and too salty, not an appetizing look! I don’t know why people talk good about this place, don’t waste your money here!

This review is only for delivery, so I can’t comment on the other aspects of the restaurant or service. We had Sang Jun last night when staying in the area. We were at our hotel and didn’t want to venture out walking around, we actually wanted to stay in and watch some football and we saw that they offered free delivery for a 3-mile radius. Lots of places deliver, but this one had the right prices on food, free delivery(many places do charge), and positive Unilocal reviews. When we called, we were quoted 1.5 hours on the delivery time. That seemed like a while, but our food arrived in just under 45 minutes. It was hot and delicious and packaged well– nothing fell over or leaked or spilled. The delivery man was very nice as well and met us in the hotel lobby. We had red shrimp curry, wonton soup, and spring rolls. The portions were good and the shrimp curry had a lot of big shrimp, they did not skimp on the shrimp :). If you’re staying in a hotel in Alexandria and don’t want to get out, this is a great option for Thai delivery!
