I brought one suit jacket to have sleeves shortened, 2 pants to have hemmed, and 2 other pants needing repair (hole/​tear near side pocket and waist lining detached). Everything came out great. I really appreciate Carlos taking the time to discuss styles and show a couple options with the jacket and pants. Other tailors I have visited are accommodating when I ask to have more/​less break when they initially pin the hemline. Carlos is a little different because he upfront offers to show a couple of different breaks — pinning one pant leg with one break and the other with another. It seems minor but it shows that Carlos wants you to see your options before making a decision.

I had my wedding dress altered by Carlos and he is just wonderful. They see people by appointment so you are the only one there, which I loved! Carlos is great at what he does and a complete professional. I plan on being a repeat customer for all my tailoring needs. Thank you Carlos!

The service was wonderful, they explained everything clearly regarding fixing my wedding dress. And I love the result! The only minus was that it took almost two month to fix it. However, I think it is just because they have too many orders since they are doing a really good job.

Carlos and Elizabeth were a dream to work with! After receiving a ridiculous $ 1200 quote to have a hem and bustle done on my wedding dress, I was lucky enough to find Carlos! He explained while some tailors charge by the name on the tag (the dress was a designer dress) he would simply charge by the work involved — fair and honest business! Additionally, his work and work ethic is second to none. Instead of simply shortening at the waist, the easy route, he painstakingly went ruffle by ruffle along the bottom of my very complicated dress because as he put it, «it was the right was to do it». The dress tuned out perfect and I cannot say enough wonderful things about the quality of work or the the people as Carols and Elizabeth made the whole experience enjoyable and easy.

This the hands down the BEST tailor in the DC metro area (and with the most affordable prices). I took in an all lace wedding dress that needed major alterations in the straps (converted a size 8 top to a size 4 and slimmed the straps). I also needed the all-​lace hem taken up, added tulle under the skirt, and had Carlos reline the cup.
Carlos explained everything that he was doing, offered suggestions to make the alterations as flattering as possible for my body type, and went through 3 fittings to make sure I was 100% happy with my dress.
I will not go to anyone else for my tailoring needs.

Although I’ve posted a previous review for Carlos, I felt the need to post another one to reinforce all of the great reviews posted here. My most recent batch of clothes I had Carlos tailor included a pair of slacks and three shirts. As usual, Carlos did an outstanding job on all of them!
I was glad to meet the other half of the incredible team at Techy’s, Carlos’ wife, Elizabeth. She is a lovely soul and I enjoyed chatting with her during my visit to their shop. They make an awesome duo!
I cannot stress enough how dedicated Carlos is to his trade and his desire for customer satisfaction. I am thankful I found Carlos and plan to use him as my tailor for many years to come!

I have taken two sweaters to Techys for reweaving issues. They do a fantastic job and I am very pleased with the final results! The service is very professional and friendly. I like how I am greeted and how my items are handled. They tell me the cost of the repair when I drop the item off, so there is no question about what I owe them when I return. They also tell me when the item will be ready, which may be standard operating procedure for most tailors, but Techys is true to their word. Their shop is inviting! I am delighted I have discovered Techys!

I ordered a custom suit for my wedding through an online retailer based out of NY. After my «first fitting,» they referred me to Techy’s (based on Unilocal reviews) to have their recommended alterations completed. Since this was my first custom suit, I didn’t know exactly what to expect. Upon walking into their shop, I was given a friendly greeting from Elizabeth who gave me a quick overview of their process (i.e. estimated pick up time, payment, etc.). Within the first few minutes of speaking with Carlos, the tailor, I got an immediate sense of the experience and professionalism that he has. For example, after I described the recommendations the retailer provided, Carlos humbly explained to me why some were «way off» and others were «close.» I could tell that he was envisioning the final appearance with consideration to my comfort and not just giving me a cookie-​cutter consult. He walked me through some of my options and wasn’t trying to force any particular style upon me. Despite the snowstorms shutting down the area and his own personal emergency (DUDE GOT A NEEDLE IN HIS EYE!!!), he was able to finish the alterations on time. In fact, he even made some last minute alterations for me on the spot.
TL;DR — Tailor good. Will be back.

Carlos is the man!!! Iv never been to a better and more personal tailor. He will sit down with you and explain everything he is doing. If you don’t like it he will spend the time finding it exactly what you want. It does take about 2 – 3 weeks to clothes back but they are always perfect and he will fix anything that you arnt happy with.

This place is phenomenal!!! I came here after seeing the reviews on Unilocal (very accurate reviews). I live out-​of-​state, but frequent the DMV area due to work. I am the type of person that loves my clothes to fit me, so I am also at different tailor shops often to get my clothes altered … with that said, as soon as I came into this place, I felt welcomed. Time was taken to make sure the length of my jeans were correct, and that I was happy with the length and how it looked on me.
I also asked to get my measurements for a suit and Carlos and his wife both took their time to get every measurement that would be needed to have my suit made. I have not received my jeans back yet, but the overall experience, attention to detail, and their sincere passion to ensure that I was pleased prompted this review. Once again, I have been to plenty of different tailor shops, but this one … it is #1!!!

Techys Tailoring is wonderful. Carlos and Elizabeth are delightful and very accommodating. They altered two pieces for me perfectly, and Carlos even hemmed a pair of pants for me free of charge in about five minutes when I dropped off the pieces! I highly recommend them and will be back soon.

Carlos altered my daughter’s prom dress with a relatively short deadline and he actually finished a day early. He was as professional and responsive as everyone else on Unilocal has reviewed him to be. I will definitely return with any future tailoring needs. Thanks Carlos, you do beautiful work. =)

Wanted to get a sports coat fitted a little slimmer on me so I came here and the result was great. I will be back with my other suit shortly.

I can’t say enough good things about this hidden gem! Carlos and Elizabeth are awesome – communicative, helpful, not at all pushy. And Carlos is very talented! He took in my wedding dress (for clarity, I’m not talking about a big ball gown; this was a slim fitting [though in a size too large] dress with lace work), and it was absolutely perfect when I picked it up. Furthermore, the price was astonishingly reasonable. So many places try to gouge you when the word «wedding» is involved, and that was not the case here. I’m so grateful I found Techys on Unilocal

Carlos and Elizabeth are both such genuine people and truly care about their customers! I called their shop and got a message they were closed so rather than leaving a voice mail, I thought I’d call back later on. Once Elizabeth was back in the office she saw that there was a missed call from my number and took the initiative to call me back which was much appreciated!
I brought my wedding dress to Carlos based on other Unilocal reviews and could not have been happier with my experience along with the finished product! As the other reviews mention, Carlos is great at communicating what needs to be done and providing different options for alterations. He thoroughly explained the different bustle options for my dress and showed me how they would look. He also provided other suggestions for what needed to be done to the dress and explained why taking off more of the train was needed but left me to make the final decision. Based on his feedback, I went with his recommendation and really loved how the dress turned out!
You can tell that Carlos is passionate and proud of his work which adds to the joy of working with both him and Elizabeth!

Carlos is an excellent tailor for men’s clothes — not only can he cheaply knock out basics like pants and shirt resizing, but he’s successfully reshaped suit jacket shoulders for me, reshaped wool sweaters, fixed shoddy work by previous tailors, and even added side tabs to suit pants based off pictures I sent him. I am confident that if Carlos says he can do something with a piece of clothing, he can (or that he’ll try, and if the alteration doesn’t work he’ll return it to its previous condition at no cost).
His shop runs quite efficiently now with the new office staff; know ahead of time that he’ll take a couple weeks for significant alterations, but that they’ll be done no later than the date specified on your receipt.
I’ve been to most well-​reviewed tailors in the Alexandria area, and Carlos is the only one I return to.

I was recommended by a friend to Techys Tailoring. They went above and beyond to ensure that I got my garment on time before I had to leave for a destination wedding. I was unable to pick up my dress before my flight and they brought it to my work with no extra charge! Also, I was unable to try on the finished dress prior to leaving and it ended up fitting perfectly! I would recommend Techys Tailoring to a friend.

Carlos is awesome because he actually communicates with you. He’ll give you his opinion on how clothes should fit you. Other tailors I’ve been to barely speak, rush to pin you, then you hope and pray your clothes will fit well. Carlos makes sure you get what you want. If you are not satisfied with his work, he will fix it free of charge.
The only downside is that with all these great Unilocal reviews, his shop gets BUSY. Especially on Saturdays.
If you’re reading this and thinking about going to Techys, PLEASE don’t be that guy/​gal who brings EVERY shirt you own to be altered. Bring 3 pieces at a time and don’t force everyone else to wait over an hour for you to be fitted.

Great service! Carlos was friendly and efficient. I needed measurements done for a bridesmaids dress that I was ordering from out of town.
Carlos was very helpful and explained everything to me when taking the measurements. His prices are reasonable and I look forward to bringing him my dress to work on once received!
