Quaint little museum with a gift shop. Not much to see. A little bit of Alexandria History. The upstairs has a little space for events and small concerts. Daughter has her Harp Recital there once a year. Acoustics are fair. Seats about 100.

I visited during the afternoon on a weekday. It’s pretty small with some interesting artifacts and information, and I got through reading everything in about an hour. Maybe I’m spoiled by the other museums in the DC area, but it left a little to be desired. I figure with a historic city like Alexandria, there are many stories to tell, and this didn’t quite capture the history like I was expecting. It’s only $ 2(suggested donation) though and it’s somewhere you can pop in to check out between other things.

What a great space! There wasn’t much parking available at the museum, but there is plenty of metered parking nearby. Saw an Edgar Allen Poe reading here, and we had such an excellent time. The chairs upstairs were a bit uncomfortable though, so wear your padded butt undies if you’re planning to sit there for a while ;)

An elegant and old historic building which includes a museum and interesting historic exhibits about Alexandria, VA. The lobby area includes lighthouse lanterns used in the 19th century. There appears to be wheelchair access to the downstairs area, also the bathrooms, but no elevator to the auditorium upstairs.
