Really great location. Just wish there were a fenced in area for my little guy. He is a runner and couldn’t enjoy being off the leash…

Nice unfenced park with water access. Usually has an after-work crowd, but sporadic usage other times. Most people are cool and get the whole dog thing, but others somehow think they can go to a crowded park and not have any other dogs interact with thier dog or their dog’s toy. Overall, a good time. The park itself has poor drainage, so gets a bit swampy during the rainy season. Like any dog park, don’t wear anything that would make you upset when someone’s muddy dog jumps up on you… its gonna happen sooner or later.

Silly Google lists this a Marina Park, but according to the City of Alexandria and me, it’s Windmill Hill Park. There is some cool history here: There is a steady sand volleyball game on the weekends, along with random groups playing soccer, tumbling down the big hills, climbing the equipment, and playing bball. Across the street toward the Potomac is a small section where the dog folks hang out. The playground is pretty nice, with a smaller folks section at top with a nice, kitty-poo free sand area, two rope climbing hills, a separate slide area, and a decent playground at the bottom. You can’t be the views either.

A nice neighborhood dog park right on the water. If you have a dog who loves to swim, this is the park for you(although you’ll probably have to give them a bath afterwards)! The park itself is pretty nice. The grass is always groomed, there are benches for owners to sit on, and doggy bags provided. The one issue I have is that it’s not fenced in, so I often keep my dogs leashes on as they’re playing so I can easily grab them if need be(they both love running away!). There is a stand-alone fenced in area, but I have yet to figure out how to actually get inside it, and it’s small so no one really uses it. Overall a nice spot for dogs to get some exertion and rough and tumble with others!
