I wanted somewhere«unique» to get my third tattoo and stumbled upon Youneek. I was happy to find out that the artists are skilled in working on POCs and I quickly went about making an appointment. I tweeted and emailed them and got some swift responses. The artist Gary was really easy to work with and convey my idea to. He was more than flexible with my hours and once I stopped by to give a small deposit I was ready to be tatted later that week. The penthouse level shop was very artistically decorated and it definitely gave off the vibe that the guys love doing what they do and are very good at it. A friend of mine was visiting so we decided to go together. She got her tat first and then mine. Hers was quick but really amazing when he finished. The fact that Gary was able to tattoo me at 11pm was awesome because my schedule can get crazy sometimes. The last tattoo I received was pretty painful so I had psyched myself up for more of the same. I heard the needle after I approved the outline but I didn’t feel anything. I looked back and to my surprise he was already working on my back. But I hadn’t felt anything? What was this madness? I talked to Gary about the lack of pain and realized quickly it was because he the perfect amount of pressure coupled with working in very small bursts of inking(he’d tat for 30 seconds, stop for 15, then tat again for 30 seconds). The tattoo was was one of the most relaxing tattoos I’ve ever had and the coloring was amazing, two months later and it still looks brand new. Aftercare was a breeze and there wasn’t much pain, unlike my other tattoo. I’m headed to him for a touch-up and to start working on a more substantial tattoo with him. As far as I’m concerned I won’t be going to anyone else to have my ink done anytime soon. If you’re looking for someone who is very knowledgeable, funny, and easy to work with ask for Gary. I’d recommend him for anyone looking for their first tattoo as he was so gentle.
