At ZENCASTLE® we make healthy skin care products using only natural and organic ingredients. Every piece of soap, bottle of lotion, and tube of lip balm we sell is handmade by one of our skin care artisans. Our goal is to provide you with only the very best products nature has to offer. We do not use sulfates, parabens, phthalates, artificial colors, petrochemicals, perfumes, parfum, synthetic fragrance oils, or low grade ingredients or substitutes. All of our soaps are formulated for the face and made from twice distilled extra virgin olive oil, essential oils and organically grown plants & flowers. Our lotions are made from the finest carrier oils and essential oils. Established in 2008.

— An obsession with healthy living, a collection of family recipes for soaps and skin tonics, and a desire to help soldiers returning from the first Persian Gulf War that were suffering from skin ailments and injuries led Francine to create a line of healthy skin care products and therapeutic soaking salts made entirely from natural and organic ingredients.

I ordered a few soaps off their website recently and they smell great! They are currently in the process of relocating according to John, so their operations will be suspended for a few weeks. I look forward to trying out my new soaps and saving money by purchasing locally instead of pricey Lemongrass soaps from Colorado.

I love ZenCastle. The staff is incredibly knowlegeable and eager to help you find the type of soap/​lotion/​bath salt that is right for you.
If you haven’t tried all-​natural soaps before, then this is the very best place to go because he’ll walk you through what you need to know. Also, they don’t put any badness in their products so your skin will be amazing. Seriously.
I love the chammomile and the calendula soaps and the muscle soak bath salts.

I’m sure at least a few Unilocal reviews have been drafted naked, but this may be the only one actually authored from the bath. I just couldn’t wait. So I’m going to try not to drop my phone in the tub, Unilocal creatively, and sink a little further into my sweetly scented soak.
Strolled into Zencastle on a recent trip to Alexandria. The owner/​manager was quick to greet us, and happy to walk me around the market stall displays. He’s a very enthusiastic entrepreneur, passionate about the organic and sustainable products they choose to use. I can see how some might find it off-​putting but I didn’t mind.
Purchased a cinnamon witch-​hazel bath soap and a «sex and the city» bath bomb which boasted a heady orange blossom scent.
Both were awesome and wonderfully fragrant. The soap acted as a pomander, scenting our whole hotel suite.
And the bath bomb, a fizzy delight. I’m enjoying it right now, little wine, a nice candle… ahhh. I’ll get out before my fingers wrinkle and I can Unilocal no more.

Aaaaah!
I stopped in here on my lunch break one day. I was on my way somewhere else and just wanted to take a quick peek inside. Little did I know I was about to be snared by the Extremely Friendly Sales Guy. He walked me personally to every single product in the store, showing me everything regardless of whether I was interested in it or not. I prefer to be left alone while I shop for the most part, so this was incredibly annoying. I tried monosyllabic answers — no dice. I tried saying I was in a hurry and just wanted to have a brief look at the shop — no dice. I kept trying to wander off, but even if I turned my back on him, he’d follow. Finally I gave up trying to look around on my own — and on being polite to the guy, who was clearly never going to stop talking — and fled the shop, a massive chunk of my lunch break gone forever.
I intended to buy some soap, but after wasting time being forced to look at lip balms, bath salts and a whole bunch of crap I was not at all interested in, I didn’t feel like making any purchases before I ran away. Now every time I go past this shop I have to suppress a shudder. No thanks, Zen Castle. I’d rather go to Lush for my handmade bath awesomeness. There, they know how to let a person shop in peace!

This place was fantastic! I think Zen Castle must be fairly new — I had never heard of it before and it didn’t look familiar when I happened to see it as I strolled by on King Street tonight. I was looking for a Christmas present for someone who loves soaps, and so this place was perfect! The store was small but very clean and well-​lit, and didn’t have too much of an overwhelming scent as many soap/​beauty product stores often have. The salesperson was very helpful and friendly. He was eager to show my friend and I all of the products (he made sure we smelled everything!) and explain everything about them, but wasn’t overly pushy about making sure we bought something or snobby as many salespeople in this area can be. The soaps themselves smelled great, and the lotion that the salesperson had us try was nice too. The prices were reasonable, too: each bar of soap I bought was $ 5, which I think is a decent price for fresh, organic soap. There were also boxes with tissue paper available for the holidays (although they charged about a $ 1.50; not unreasonable but throwing in the box would have been nice). All in all, a great shopping experience, and great products that I’m sure will make a fabulous gift!
