This is a new soul food place in rural Iowa. I was skeptical, but open to trying it. 1) if you are going to sell soul food, you must offer iced tea. Brewed iced tea, not peach tea in a bottle. 2) If you are going to sell fried chicken, they should be huge pieces. I thought I was served a little quail wing and leg. 3) Thank you for offering a salad-type bar, but could you make your own dressings and not just put out 10 bottles of store brand stuff? Cole slaw needs something, like more vinegar and sugar. It’s very plain, like just mayo. Spaghetti is nothing. Add some oregano and other seasonings and offer parmesan. Corn muffins are decent. Different, but tasty. As many daily offerings that you have, please print a menu. Just type up something on your computer and print it out. Or just offer a couple plate lunches and change them up. The proprietors are from Chicago, so maybe they don’t know that any soul food eatery needs a good rice & gravy or red beans & rice. And at $ 11.75 a plate, you should throw in a piece of that cake. :)
