Absolutely the worst dining experience I have ever had! My mom and I went there Sunday around 10:30am. We walked in the place and it was hot and dirty. Even then I kept an open mind and thought. well they probably have good food. Little dive diners have great food sometimes. We sat there 25 minutes. Nobody came to the table, nobody brought water.nothing. Finally a waiter came and asked if we wanted something to drink. We ordered 2 diet pepsi’s. After a few minutes I see him walk to the kitchen with an empty 2 liter of diet pepsi! A 2 liter!!! Needless to say when we got our soda it was flat. (We ordered lunch being that now it was after 11!) I ordered the Julian salad and my mom ordered a burger. My mom and I were talking about sharing the salad so he said he could have them split it because it was really big. So I said that would be great. Then we sat… and waited… and waited… My mom asked for a refill of her(flat 2 liter) diet pepsi, the waiter took her glass went back and refilled it. Brought it back no ice just warm flat diet Pepsi now. At this time it’s about 11:45ish. We have been sitting for over and hour with nothing more than warm flat pop. Waiter comes bringing our food. Wow! The salad was thrown on 2 small snack plates.(This is the BIG salad the waiter talked about!) The salad looked like slop. Lettuce was wilted and brown. The looks of the lunch meat, which was only on 1 of the plates looked like something from a few weeks ago. Now a sidenote. I have never sent back food. ever! But no way was I risking eating this and getting sick! I looked at him a and said are you kidding. He kind of mumbled. well that’s what they gave me!!! WHAT!!! I started picking out all the wilted brown lettuce and said there is no way I am eating this! He said he would take it back. My mom’s burger looked fair, not good, the coleslaw that came with it had a brown hue to it. I told her do not eat it. The fries were ok, my mom said the burger was not good. I didn’t want anything at this point. I told the waiter I couldn’t believe after waiting an hour and a half that is what I was brought. My mom asked him if he could get a few pancakes for me and not take an hour. Which he did. they were decent, not the best. Then on our way out my mom went to use the restroom. Surprise NOTOILETPAPER! In summary, I can’t believe this place is still open, maybe it’s breakfast food is good, I would not go back to try it even if someone paid me! It literally is a hot, dirty, mess!

this is the great place with the awesome food. some folks seem to prefer the place across the street with the kitschy décor but the food at reese’s is better, and real. i recommend the omelette. and the meats are sweet indeed, we’re talking good meat. good coffee. this is the great place!

Went here today for breakfast with my mother and grandmother. I ordered a make your own skillet and it was amazing! Under 8 dollars for so much food. I ordered tomatoes and broccoli as my vegetables and they were fresh! My eggs where sunny side up with still runny yolk; the proper way to cook them! Very happy and will be coming back here:)

We first went to Reeae’s about 25 years ago when we lived near Algonquin in Barrington Hills. We loved the food and the nice people. We moved away for a long time and just came back a few months ago — what an incredible surprise — Jim Lindemann is still behind the window manning the grill! The food is even better than we remembered! Pancakes to perfection, especially the blueberry, and last Sunday our friends were along and he ordered the Apple pancakes — surprise! I had his leftover and they were awesome as well. I always order the ham off the bone, crispy… And it is perfect. I have to say, I am a breakfast and pancake snob and these are the best! Everyone there loves the food and the people. I say it is my favorite place. Good old fashioned home cooking…

I’ll admit, i didn’t want to come here. The reviews were terrible. Short stack seemed like the better bet. But, the wait was too long there and my party and I were hungry. Lets begin. Greeted right away through the door. Friendly and polite. We were seated right away. Waters and coffee came out quick. The coffee was not good. Drinkable but not good. Reminded me of watered down instant coffee. Everyone ordered something different. I ordered a corned beef hash skillet. It was good. Eggs cooked great, hash browns crispy, everything just came out perfect. 3 people in my party ordered over easy eggs, 2 of them came out perfect. 1 of theirs had the white not cooked all the way. So consistency needs to be worked on. But each person enjoyed their food. Pros: Food was good. Service was fast, friendly, and polite. Price was reasonable and affordable cons: Coffee was bad Consistency in cooking the food I will be back. But i may bring in my coffee. Lol

Yes, as other reviewers stated, it was a bit dark, dingy and dirty, however, we put that aside and tried it anyway. We were actually more thirsty than hungry, as we had just finished riding 25 miles on the bike path. That being said, when the waiter brought our beverages with no ice, I immediately requested he bring us some to add to the«iceless» glass of ice water and my flat diet coke(yuck). My husband then asked for iced tea, and once again, no ice(or lemon for that matter, and was terrible). The waiter looked annoyed when I asked for more ice, and actually picked up, and looked at the glass, as if he didn’t believe us! Ummm – just a little pointer, Please don’t touch my food or drinks while I’m still eating! The food was okay, but it took 45 minutes for two omelettes(really?), and it was very hard to look past the beverages and the unappetizing dirty-looking glasses they were served in. We are good tippers, but this waiter did not deserve the 20% tip my husband gave him. He made me feel like we were inconveniencing him, and was very unapproachable. His attitude, serving skills, and personality left us never wanting to return. Oh, and he forgot the toast we were supposed to get with our breakfast. Perhaps he is «new», or just young, but whatever the case, he did not seem enthused to be there.

We were seated immediately. Immediately served coffee… and that’s when we started waiting. It took about 5 minutes for someone to take our order… not terrible. Then we waited 45 minutes for the waiter to tell us that they had just started to prepare our order. We nicely told him that we were leaving. He comped us the coffee. We noticed other waiting just as long. Terrible.

Gag. So, we went here on a Saturday at 1pm. There were a total of four other customers there, two teenage girls and two older men. Should have taken that as a sign. First, the place is filthy. And I mean greasy stained glass, dusty wood everywhere, old splashes of mystery liquid on the walls, sticky table, dingy, dark, filthy. These things don’t really hit you til you’re already sitting and sipping coffee that tastes like burnt honey. Second, the service was terrible. The waiter(and I use that term loosely here) had no idea what he was doing, couldn’t answer questions about the menu, didn’t know that drinks need ice, couldn’t figure out how to set the food on the table… needed training. Badly. Third, the food. Gag. We ordered a «skillet» and a burger. The skillet came out on a plate(where’s the skillet?) and was nestled in a squishy puddle of grease. Gag. The burger just plain smelled and tasted funny. Funny like beef that has turned and should have been thrown out two days ago funny. We told the waiter and he was really confused. He said he would take it back to the kitchen so they could look at it. We asked for a blt instead, which was a blt, good job guys. The fries were fried in oil that was clearly used too much ~ they tasted like a mix between funnel cake and tater tots. Gag. No refills were offered. The waiter did mention that we would not be charged for the burger. How gracious of them. We got out as fast as we could. I would recommend this place… never. Dirty, bad service, bad food. Save yourself the gags and go somewhere, anywhere else.

Very dirty place… They use to have good service, The food could have been better. Not enough ventilation in the place, always smokey. I would not reccomend this place to my worse enemy.

When we discovered the wait time at our usual breakfast place was too long for our hungry bellies to handle, we made the decision to go across the street and give Reeses a try. In hindsight, we realized this was low blood sugar talking and had we been just a little more balanced the correct decision would have been to stay put. On to the review… Upon entering Reeses, you step back in time to the dingy, drab, smoke filled 70’s. Well, I’m assuming smoke filled because the walls were still yellowed with old nicotine stains… The rest of the place is pretty dirty and dingy looking and really needs to be updated or at least cleaned. But we were starving, so we stayed. Our waitress was pleasent and attentive, but like everything in the place, she was kind of dingy and unkempt in her appearance. The service in general was OK. My biggest complaint about the staff was one of the servers was completely bathed in something that smelled like Loves Babysoft perfume. It was all we could smell. Every time she walked by it left a lingering smell. Completely unappetizing. We ordered 2 corned beef hash skillets and one banana pancake meal. The skillets were pretty terrible. The portion was very small, the hash browns were undercooked and the corned beef hash was also undercooked, but there was so little of it in there its really hard to say for sure. Also, skillets are generally served in a skillet or skillet shaped dish. These just came on chipped plates. The banana pancakes were a hit, my son loved them. When we left we all noticed that we smelled pretty rank, like burnt grease or something. We didn’t notice it while we were dining, but maybe the server who used perfume instead of showering this morning covered it up. We won’t be back regardless of how long the wait is across the street.

It took me 45 minutes to get my food, had awful service, the food was bad, and I watched people for the same reasons listed above.

Too bad zero stars was not option. Waste of $ 20.00! AND our time which we find precious. I feel like the whole place needs to be washed from top to bottom. The waffle my husband ordered tasted like old pancake mix very sour! My egg(I was afraid to order more than one) was not done! Hashbrowns were very burnt and smelled like were cooked in old oil. The buttered toast — well it was slathered on and horrible. It’s too bad really, it’s in such a cute part of town. As far as the décor goes, get rid of the advertising all over the tables and coffee cups, if you REALLY need that for revenue, you should consider looking the reviews of your restaurant and perhaps change a few things. All the servers looked like they just rolled out of bed… not a good representation of your establishment. We were hoping for a «diamond in the rough» it’s just a dump — with deplorable food.

No stars is not an option, but would apply to our short visit. Sat down, received coffee and menu and then walked out(paid for coffee) to restaurant across the street! No biscuits and gravy on a Sunday morning in a breakfast restaurant??? Very greasy and dirty feeling too. Sad for them, but GREAT for us at the place across the street!

They say that if the food/service is good… tell others. If it’s not, tell us. The service was okay… the food… not so much. I ordered two scrambled eggs with bacon and hash browns(hash browns well done). I also ordered toast«buttered». When my plate was served, my first thought was that if I was the server, I would have handed it back to the cook and said, «I refuse to serve that!» The hash browns weren’t just«well done»…they were burnt! I took a chance and took a bite but then wished I hadn’t, Definitely burnt with an awful burnt taste. The scrambled eggs looked okay and I ate about half when I realized that they were very runny on the underside… The«buttered» toast was SLATHERED in whatever they call butter… not just buttered. When the server came by and asked how everything was, I told her that the hash browns were burnt and that the cook needed to know they were inedible. She DID offer to get me a new order, but I declined. The bacon was greasy, but crisp and tasty. I have no complaints about the server and we left her a more than 20% tip but that’s the last«one more chance» we’ll give to Reese’s. The place is badly in need of a good scrubbing from top to bottom. I showered before we went there and feel like I need to re-shower to get rid of the greasy reek!

Thru the years he has had to change waitresses and has a very good crew. The food is great and have never ever had a bad meal. We meet for breakfast very early and even though it says 6 you can go in and 5 and he is open. The waitress does not come on till 6 but the owner will serve you. He has times he is busy and there are times you are only one there and then all of a sudden you have more people coming in. The food does come out fast but you also have to remember that nothing comes out of a box or is premade. Its fresh as you order and that does take a little longer. The restaurant is a country setting and has lots of memory’s on the walls. There also is a crafty area for sale. We meet a lot of people there and have nice meals for more than 5. They Move tables together to seat larger crowds. I always see the girls washing down tables and re setting for business. You can not beat the price for as much food as you get and I do not know of any one that has left hungry. Try it you might be pleasantly surprised. This is not 5 star just a guy with good food. If you want a pretty picture on your plate like a 5 star then go there, this is a nice comfortable eating place.

Reese’s is not the type of place we would typically go, but we decided to check it out. We had a great server named Mariah, who was extremely accommodating and sweet. She was willing to help me get a good meal while still following my dietary restictions. We will be back!

Great Breakfast Place. Eggs were cooked perfect, potatoes were excellent as was the bacon. Service was pretty quick at this pleasant small diner and the coffee was better than average.

We decided to try this place on the recommendation of a friend. When we got there, the place was empty except for three tables. That should have been my first clue. The person seating us asked how many in our party, which was four. I saw a nice table in the window and asked if we could sit there. She said no, they only seat parties of five or more in that area. I said that the restaurant was practically empty, and she still said no. She seated us at a table that backed directly up to the wait station, even though there were plenty of other tables available. We sat down and I immediately noticed that the place was quite dirty. The table had not been cleaned properly in some time(my hands stuck to it). The window into the wait station was literally covered in food debris. In short, the place was disgusting. It was at this point that I decided we would not even try to eat at the place. We left and went across the street to another restaurant.

Not a bad place at all, if you’re in the mood for homestyle breakfast food. I actually had great service when I was there, and was blown away by the chili omelet, but I’m a sucker for a good omelet. It’s surely not the most healthy place to eat in the world, but for a pretty low price, you can get some really tasty food.
