I Unilocal’d «Bike Shop» in Alhambra, and Alhambra Cycle Sports was the closest place. I called ahead to ensure that he was going to be opened when I got there. What I needed to get done: Tighten my crank arm because it was loose. Pros: –Brian, the owner, helped me point out what the problem was and it was a minor strip of the crank arm so he suggested a replacement for $ 20 [a little pricey?]. –He helped me temporarily fix it as complimentary. –He was nice. Cons: –I tried to shop for some other parts and they are pretty pricey. There are other bike shops that sell many of the parts for less. Conclusion: Go here if you need something done ASAP but if you can sit on it, research your costs.

I went in to get a new front brake set for my vintage bicycle, he doesn’t have any and he gave me some janky ass fixie brake for 15 bucks and it broke too so he replaced it. If you’re Korean like me he will be a little nicer but he’s just another shady Asian dude. Bump this place

Always call before heading to this shop because he supposed to open at 10am, but sometimes it’s 11am, or even 12noon.

My bike needed new tubes and this place was the closest to bike shop near me. I came here and the owner was nice enough and said it would be $ 18 and to come back in an hour. I walked and grabbed lunch and came back and he was still working on it. I asked him to change the seat as well and he did. Overall it was a little over $ 30 and my bike is riding great.

Being I’m the Duke here I guess I better write a review. Just recently bought a used Schwinn. Needed 2 tubes, a tire and rear brake caliper. I know very little about bikes but had called a few places for quotes and all were $ 10-$ 20 higher. Seeing this bike was pretty used and left some to be desired and told this guy you’re hired. $ 50 for parts and labor. Isn’t much selection but seems to have a lots of spare part and there is room for bargaining. If you have a nice bike and deeper pockets would recommend Jones in San Marino. This one worked for me though.

Thinking that skinnier high pressure tires would make my bike faster, I took my bike to this store for a skinny tire and new tubes. I asked the owner if it was possible to transfer my Mr Toughy(plastic strips that prevents flats) from my old tire and install in in the new tire. He said sure, no problem. First he gave me really good prices, but then asked me if i was Chinese. I anwered«no», then the price went up, almost 30% higher than the original quote. I asked him to give me a break down of the prices. So he made up some prices that did not match the final bill. I returned a few hours latter and piked up my bike. Days latter, i got a flat and fixed it myself. When i removed the new tire, i discovered that Mr Toughy was not installed. And this was part of the deal. This is a shady place. I only went there since i only live blocks away from this bike store. I will never go there again.

Went in to get some tubes and tires. Expensive but LBS so I let that slide. He gave me a tube with a hole in it. Came back next day, took 30 min for him to switch the tube to another. No installation or anything just tube for tube. And no one was there! he just straight went to work on a bike then went to get a tube for me after he was done. WTF. tube had a hole AGAIN! so i went back and he says I’m lying this time. How are you going to say that your customer is lying to you when you had a defective product. Its not his fault that its defective and I didnt say it was. and AGAIN he went off to help people that came 20 min after me and was working on another bike I literally stood there to the point where other customers thought I worked there and was learning from him. Finally after 45 min wait and bugging him he gives me another tube and says no more. And I Was like well its not my fault you have holes in your tubes. and had him pump it to check and left. Terrible customer service. Doesnt care at all about you waiting to just get a tube exchange. And calls his customers liars. He was even yelling at me but that just pissed me off so i yelled back. Never going back, I was going to refer my friends here too because its a LBS and its close by BUT forget this guy, each time I go he gives me crap.

This guy is pretty shady. I came here a couple of times before I knew about Unilocal for some bike repair(my tire kept losing air over a period of a few weeks)… the guy who worked here kept charging me to patch my tire. Eventually, I got sick of the same«problem» reoccuring, so I went to a much better bike store(Jones bicycles) — and they told me apparently it is natural for my tire to lose air over time(yes, I did feel like a fool for not knowing this). They checked my tire for free and confirmed that it did not have any leaks. So basically, Alhambra Schwimm was taking advantage of my lack of knowledge — and charging me for something that wasn’t even broken.

The korean guy(only guy that works there) isn’t so hot on the english language, but he has a great selection of parts that can be talked down a few bucks(all depending on the price of the part) Unless you dont know how to wrench your own bike, dont get repairs from him, only his son who is there on the weekends, they tend to overcharge a bit, but im ok with that because i support my only reasonbly priced LBS(next closest is jones which is for people with really deep pockets)

I agree with the reviews. The prices are sky high — $ 12 for a made in China bike chain that will cost $ 8 elsewhere. The selection of bikes and parts is as good, if not worse than Sport Chalet(this is not a good thing). It is very hard to communicate with the staff working there, since they do not speak English and not very knowledgeable. Whatever happened to good ‘ol American businesses? Do yourself a favor and drive over to the Temple City Bike Shop or Helen’s Cycles in Arcadia. They have a much better selection, more competitive price, and a staff that is actually qualified.

Mr. Kim always takes care of me. I bought my bike here, got my flat fixed, bike adjusted, and tires changed. No problems what so ever. Very nice guy and always plays Johnny Cash! Can’t get much better than that.
