Love the Spot. Normally get a # 87 or 82

You know, as good as the food is, I’m rather bummed about this place. The portions have gotten smaller and smaller over the years, and now they use TONS of bean sprouts as filler for some of their items, like the über delish Pad Thai. And there is no requesting extra noodles; we were told that request was «for soups only». Ask for extra limes, and they give you two of them on a GIANT plate. The hand rolls here are very good. I believe they were called the Thai hand rolls (but don’t quote me on that, all the hand rolls we’ve tried at this place have been excellent.) The ones we had contained hot mustard and mushrooms and fake crab in them. it was a nice smack in the sinuses. The chicken tom kah is excellent here as well. It seems to have gotten way better. The service here can be hit or miss, as it seems like they are understaffed or something, or maybe they just don’t care? They also just were written up in the LA Times (front page, to boot) this past Wednesday. Good place to check out, you can’t go wrong with the food, but beware of the small portions and wacky service. And hey, they are open late.

OK, well, I still eat there, although the place is about as far removed from «Big Boy» as you can get. But I wanted to say how sad I am to this day that we lost one of the greats when Big Boy closed.
Luckily, when it was Big Boy, I ate there a lot. I enjoyed many of their breakfast buffets with my Asian friends on a late Sunday morning (late because we recovering from clubbing the previous evening!).
Every time I sat in there, I always said «I can’t believe this place is still here — right in the middle of China!»
Alas, I must have doomed it.
At any rate, Noodle World is also a terrific restaurant. Plenty of various foods to eat and usually plenty of eye candy due to the customers. My favorite dish is the Teriyaki Chicken bowl. I love the sauce!
Goodbye, Big Boy — hello Noodle World!
NOTE: The change from Big Boy to Noodle World happened over 8 years ago. But I still treat it like it just happened. ;)

Here I am… searching for the next Yogurt joint! hehe… It’s funny ’cause it was totally by accident. We were at Noodle World for a dinner togo pickup! And… da la… I saw the machine, my eyes lit up, and I knew there is no way I can leave without one! As usual, I always get Original Plain… I don’t want any other ingredient to get in the way of real Froyo. hehe. Omgosh… I am nuts! Anyways, it’s not bad… it’s not pinkberry, but it’s not bad at all. I would totally go back for more! But… the parking really really sucked! *sigh* Oh yeah… it’s pretty cheap too. I got a large original plain for only $ 4.50. Awesome price in this hood! hehe… Happy FroMo!
