This little mom & pop spot might be a little bit hard to find but it’s located next to Yogurtland and Crêpe Luv. Parking is a bit tricky too since it’s located in a plaza with other businesses but it’s not difficult. It’s a small location that sits at most maybe 25 people and dishes on the menu are comfort food-like and appeal to the traditional Asian crowd in my opinion. I came here and ordered a shrimp wonton noodle soup to-go for $ 8. The price is a bit steep considering that it’s such a basic noodle soup and I can find other options elsewhere. However, the wontons are packed with huge shrimps and that is probably why the price is a bit high. The noodle soup itself was good but I was given such a small container for soup. When I transferred everything into a bowl, my poor wontons weren’t immersed in the soup at all. The service here is like any other Asian restaurant so don’t expect much. You can say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ as much as you’d like and still be stared at with the same stern face. Overall, an a-okay place to grab a bite on a cold day or just to satisfy some cravings.

I personally really enjoys this place everytime I come here. The wonton and house fish balls are huge and yummy.

Had the shrimp wonton soup. Amazing! will definitely return. Huge pieces of shrimp mane Chinese broccoli with chewy noodles. So good. Can’t wait to try the congee.

I love this small porridge restaurant! Recommend their pig blood porridge(sounds weird but I don’t know if I translated correct), and beaf tenderloin

If you want a simple delicious pork dumpling noodle soup, this is the place to go! $ 7 for a large bowl of egg noodle with 5 large dumplings and some leafy veggie. The dumpling skin is chewy(«QQ» as they say in mandarin) and the pork filling with cabbage is very yummy. The broth is not oily and not overly salty like other noodle joints. The restaurant is quite small but overall very clean. The staff is friendly and courteous.

A really small Mom and Pop shop with great food and affordable prices! To my surprise, I actually like this place a lot. You won’t get amazing service here, but it’s really not that bad! The prices are very cheap considering how good their food was. Their porridge was good and their pan fried noodle rolls were lacking a little bit of flavor but I think I would’ve been better off with the beef stew noodle rolls instead. Regardless, I’d still order it and definitely come back here. Perfect for a quick bite or to order to go. Their portions are very very generous. No complaints here :)

Yummmm! Their shrimp wonton is big and juicy… We usually get the shrimp wonton soup with egg noodles and we add beef stew and homemade fish balls… My bf and I share that and the pan fried noodles with beef stew… Everything is delicious and filling… All for 20 bucks tip included! The place is really small and water cups are tiny… Parking is spacious at the back… I would recommend this place on a cold day! Someone who craves for that classic wonton soup!

Hello my Unilocalies, Came here for the first time since I’ve drove by this place many times and thought why not give it a try. Parking is very convenient since they are located right inside the plaza of yogurt land, there is usually always space so don’t need to worry too much about finding a spot. The place is actually very tiny, probably fit around 20 – 25 people. It seems like a home own restaurant, their menu is pretty simple and short which was actually a lot better since there isn’t much choice. I order the Beef Noodle Soup and my friend order the Beef & Fish balls noodle soup. Food came out within 5 minutes but I was actually a little disappointed with mine. The beef was very chewy and hard to swallow that I had to give it all to my friend because I just can’t eat it. The soup base was good, taste very healthy and it was well seasoned but I personally don’t like those super thin noodles so that was a little disappointed for me. The reason I gave it a 2 stars is that since I order beef noodle soup, I expect to have decent quality beef and not something that I don’t even have the energy to chew on, the beef is the main course of this dish and I was really looking forward to something that is tender and tasty. As for my friend he really enjoyed the beef and fish balls, I tried one each and they are definitely a lot better than the beef. Our bill came out to $ 15 exactly, I guess you do get what you pay for. I was a little disappointed that they didn’t have the gyoza anymore because I was actually really looking forward to eating that but since they didn’t have it today I had no choice. Their service was pretty average, everyone was working hard and trying their best to fulfill all of their customers stomach. Overall, 4 stars for service, 2 stars for food and drinks, 3 stars for environment and decoration and 4 stars for cleanliness. I probably won’t come back again but it was an okay experience, thank you.

It was a cold day, and I came here after walking a street or so down from a little residential area near Savoy House. I didn’t really want to wait in line and I was also looking for some place that served warm food. Congee is a term that is very familiar to me in my household. It’s essentially the chicken noodle soup for us asians. Not that I was looking to eat congee, but I did end up going in anyway. The entrance is a narrow little place. You’re greeted by bar like seating in a short, narrow hall that opens up to a wider room with tables and chairs, mostly enough for four people at most. Not great for large groups. I imagine this place is popular for older asian folk looking for something familiar. Anyway, I took a menu(this flimsy pink sheet of paper) and browsed through. Most of the items are between 6 – 9 dollars, depending on what you order. I decided to go with the Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup. It didn’t take long for me to order, and as soon as I was ready, I glanced up at the waitress who came over. The little restaurant was far from full, hardly busy at 3PM. My order arrived steaming hot with four very large wontons floating to the side. A few veggies piled up on the other side, both of these covering the noodles. Honestly, it looked great. To be honest, the soup and noodles didn’t taste like much. I loved the wonton, though. They were stuffed with several shrimp and very delicious. It was very warming for a cold California day. The only bad part was when it came to pay. I asked them what they took(I recalled they had the credit card stickers pasted on their door). However, the waitress told me their machine was broken and I’d have to pay cash. This sucked. The ATM was just at the corner, not too far away, but to get money out of my bank account? $ 3 fee(+$ 2.5 for it not being my bank’s ATM). That’s like half the price of my meal there, and took the winds out of my sails. I’m sure it’s not the restaurant’s fault, really, but I’m still rather disappointed.

One of the top places anywhere in the SGV for authentic, perfectly texturized egg noodles! The small, cute shop is also perfectly authentic with its narrow layout and close quarters where we are eating eight next to others. The beef stew is Hong Kong style, the huge won tons are filled with shrimp, and the jook was«meen.» You’ll know what good congee is when you know that. It’s also consistent as we have eaten here twice now. We have to come back to try their other variants. Last time, I had their dried shrimp lo mein, and the egg noodles were great. It was unique and tasty! The portions are just right though, but their prices are just right too.

LOVE it. The favorites — beef stew anything. The sauce was amazing — over congee, in the lo mein, with the special noodles. Holy eff, it was delicious and we couldn’t have enough. Do yourself a favor — give ‘The Congee’ a try. Either the humongous wontons will get you or the beef stew. Parking is always terrible at this lot — not due to the lack of spaces, just the layout is awful. Also, this plaza houses numerous restaurant, dessert, retail spaces.

My mom loves this place but I can’t say we sat at the table having the same experience. It’s a small joint that serves casual Cantonese fare(Hong Kong style congee/noodle shop). It’s on the NE corner of Valley and Garfield and shares the same parking lot as Yogurtland, Phoenix Inn, Kiki Bakery, etc. I ordered the fish tofu soup. The portion was very small for $ 6.50. The broth was very oily and without much taste yet it was laden with MSG. Our party also shared the rice noodles($ 5.95) and salt and pepper chicken wings. They weren’t good, especially the rice noodles with soy sauce. It was bland and so not special. I don’t recall how much the wings cost but I’ve had better elsewhere. My mom had the pork liver porridge with extra pork liver added. The addition is supposed to be $ 1.50 extra but the bill said otherwise. More on my issue with the bill later. She loves this congee and said the liver is soft and tasty. Not my thing but OK. I also had an order of chrysanthemum tea which had an unpleasant bitter aftertaste. Ack! Now, the bill… they don’t give you a subtotal plus taxes. They give you something that rounds up or down on the tax… rounding mostly up. I have to say this is a shady business practice. I want to be charged for exactly what you posted, not so you can bank a bit more on each item ordered. Not cool. Lunch was one bowl of noodles with fish tofu, one congee with extra liver, one plate of chicken wings, one order of rice noodles and two chrysanthemum teas. It cost $ 40 after tip. Totally NOT worth it.

Disgusting. Saw a las prepping the wontons in their storage room full of cleaning chemicals, with the water heater in there. They place their refrigerator in same place as their 4 by 5 storage. Please stay away! This place needs to be shut down.

I m a Chinese from HK, I have been eating Hong Kong style congee & noodle since I was born. Two days ago, I experienced the worst liver congee and dumpling noodle in my life. The liver congee was so red, the color was so awful. I understand a little raw liver may be red, but how come the whole bowl of congee is also red? The waitress told me that was normal. She didn’t explain why the congee was RED. The dumplings were not Hong Kong style, they tasted like frozen dumplings from supermarkets. I will not go there again. Treat yourselves better, DONOTGO.

This restaurant is located in the yogurtland plaza on valley blvd. It’s a pretty small place and probably only around 10 tables. Me and my boyfriend came here on a Friday night. There were only like 4 other tables there that night. I got the plain noodle soup which was only $ 3.50. The noodles were cooked perfectly, veggies are the same everywhere, and the soup was pretty good. I love their hot sauce that they have on the side of the table for you. I always put a lot of white pepper in my noodle soups as well, and I’m really glad they have that on the side as well. My boyfriend got the fish balls and beef balls noodle soup. He said it was yummy as well ! His was about $ 6.50 I think. The whole bill came out to be $ 11! SOCHEAP! I was pretty full when I finished my bowl, so it was the perfect amount! The only thing I didn’t like was that they give you tap water. It was pretty gross, but other than that, I would come here for their noodle soup again. I haven’t tried their congee yet though.

This is my favorite spot for wonton. I have not find anything close to that yet. Lol its very meaty and consistent on taste. Been coming here for years plus I have brought everyone here. It can get really crowded during rush hours.

The Congee is a terrific place to go for a quick but high quality meal. Food: The wontons in soup comes with about 7 – 8 large shrimp & pork wontons the slightly larger than a ping-pong ball. The vegetables in the wonton soup are fresh and delicious. I didn’t drink the soup but I’m sure it would have been delicious. The fried chicken wings was also a stand-out. It was crispy and slightly spicy having been fried with jalapeños and garlic. It is a must for anyone visiting the congee. I didn’t eat the congee with pork liver because I don’t enjoy the liver-taste, but my dad enjoyed it and it seems to be one of their specialities. Service/Cleanliness: Prompt and friendly. We received our order within 5 – 10 minutes. They were patient, kind, and friendly. We were seated right away on a clean table. The floors seemed to be quite clean. I wonder if the earlier complaint about cockroaches is more epidemic to LA and the dumpsters outside rather than a reflection of the restaurant. I will definitely come back for the wontons and fried chicken wings!

BEWARE!!! *COCKROACH in CONGEE* BEWARE!!! I wished I can give this crappy restaurant a negative star because I found a «Half-inch long DEADCOCKROACH» in my food. I bought two chicken congee togo on Oct 21st, 7:21pm. I finished one and saved another one(Never opened, still in togo plastic container) for next day. On Oct 22nd, I tried to finish the congee that I saved yesterday night. After I finished around 1⁄5 of the congee and I saw there is a half inch long dead cockroach in my food. I immediately omit and feel very sick on the rest of the day. I called«The Congee», manager named Wendy said they«never» had this problem and refused to accept the truth that the dead cockroach was from their restaurant even I told her that I never opened the food container. I had file complaint to public health department and hope they can shut down this place before more victims are suffered. I have been living in Alhambra for 8 years and it is my first time to have COCKROACH in my food. I will never go to this crappy place again!

Canto comfort food. Light foods. Their fish paste ball soup has huge chunks around $ 8 each. Porridge(congee) place. Definitely would come back for the fish paste ball soup though. Simple fast place. Looks like folks pass by here to grab lunch during the weekday. Kinda ghetto fab place but not so crazy fab on the food. Its decent. Parking plaza as yogurtland.
