Everyone is always so helpful while you are learning and always encourage you to try again. Staff is friendly and fun, though pricing is a bit high and they don’t offer(in my opinion) reasonable membership prices, which is my only reason for not giving them 5 stars. Still cheaper than a boat though! I love this place!

If you are looking for an awesome place to spend the day with your family or even just drop your kid off to shred… Then this place is it, Wakeboarding for ALL levels, a full service restaurant! Whether you’ve ever been Wakeboard before or just want to come and relax after work Hydrous has you covered. I love coming here!

This is an excellent wakeboard park that Allen residents are fortunate to have. My kids have been going there for awhile and have a blast. Finally something that compels them to leave their video games and get physically active. The place has a cool vibe and is welcoming to people of all skill levels. Wakeboarders can do much more on a cable system than behind a boat. Its easier to get up on the board and to learn than being on a lake. The tricks and flips the skilled riders can do are amazing. The staff is friendly and helpful. Cost is reasonable.

Not terrible but I’ve seen a lot better. My brother(whom is 12) has been wake boarding for years and I took him here while he was visiting and he was completely unimpressed. It was like a kiddie ride for him. The main cable goes way too slow for anyone that has ANY experience wake boarding even though it’s supposed to alternate speeds. I talked to one of the owners about it before leaving and he was really nice and offered extra time for free, so that was a plus. I just wish my brother would have had a better time for the amount of money paid.

My nephew’s birthday party brought me in for a little participatory visit. I enjoyed the experience. The kids had a blast. There are little pavilion stations set up for different party groups. Some are larger than others. The kids had their own pavilion and lake area off to the side and separate from the larger lake. This worked out perfectly — they were able to enjoy themselves without feeling in the way of other, more serious wake boarders. We had full view of the serious guys and gals though and it was fun watching them do stunts and tricks every is often. Vests and equipment are located at the pavilion or stations The indoor«lodge» area has a catering space complete with a bar counter and a pretty massive table with seating. There was also enough space for two more long tables to house cake and treats. A small shop is also located in the lodge/main building where you can purchase wake boarding gear. You enter through this shop from the parking lot where you check in/sign paperwork via their computer stations etc., and then head out the back entrance to the actual park. The staff was friendly and the vibe pretty chill. I would return.

I’m jealous that something like this didn’t exist when I was younger. Of course, that isn’t stopping me from trying it out… And falling ever so gracelessly. I also came here with a Groupon, which made my wallet happy. Otherwise, rentals and a two-hour pass can be pricey. Check-in and waivers were simple enough, though the person helping wasn’t very informative. Fortunately, I found someone along the way to point us in the right direction. We started in the beginner area where I stuck out like a sore thumb. That’s right — I was the only person over 10. Good times. Fortunately, they had gear for me and the guy running the cable was helpful in getting started. We bailed from the area quickly(once we learned to stand up) because it was crowded and things were slow going. We dropped our gear and headed to the main cable where getting boards and such was not as easy. There was no one behind the counter when we arrived and, once we found someone, she kinda tossed some stuff at us and began to leave. I had to stop her because most of it didn’t fit. Once we were covered, we moved to the line at the main cable, which was(thankfully!) set to beginner speed. There wasn’t a lot of instruction here — I had to ask other riders the difference between the lines. Once we were at the front, there wasn’t much instruction and the guys running the cable were quick to snap at us. I do better with upfront instructions and expectations, so this soured the experience a bit. After a few face-first dives off the cable, I managed to stand up for half of the course. I also almost managed to jump a ramp, but that’s due to my lack of training and inability to turn my body. I also flew off my board on a turn since I was still adjusting to the speed and balance differences. I don’t mind falling, but it wasn’t encouraging to us when no one seems interested in instructing folks — even the young ones. I say that, but it looks like if you are part of their summer camps that you get more attention and instruction. *shrug* Two hours was far too short to learn half of what we needed, but it was a good introduction. Overall, it was a good time and I will return, though I wish they were better in the customer service department. If possible, go as soon as they open(10 a.m.) on a weekday. We hit the place when it opened and it was still semi-crowded. I can’t imagine trying to tackle it all during peak times or on weekends. They even have discounts throughout the week, which makes it worth the trek.

I decided to go here because I bought a Groupon. My Groupon included 2 hours of wake boarding, helmet, wakeboard rental, and life jacket. Although I know I paid less than if I walked in off the street, but I found out the lady next to me bought hers off of Travel Zoo and paid $ 25 less. I, myself did not wakeboard. My two boys enjoyed their 2 hours. We stayed over at the beginners area the whole time. The opperator of the pully system that pulls the wake boarder did help the riders, but he did not give out instructions. My boys could never get the hang of it to move over to the larger wakeboard area. They had fun and wanted to come again. Maybe practice makes perfect.

Seriously an awesome park. Came because of a Groupon that gave us half off. We went wake boarding, and they have 3 areas for beginners, kinda-beginner-but-doesnt-want-to-stay-in-the-small-pool, and the big«lake» where the experienced guys go. The guys who man the little pulley systems are really nice, and give you tips on how to get things right and surf on the water like a pro! Even after the pulleys yanking me through the water face first more than once, they were patient, helping this family of four through our first wake boarding experience. Docked 2 stars for things that could be so easily amended that it’s frustrating. First of all, the staff that aren’t teaching(the girl at the front who checks you in, gets forms signed, the guys who handle your rentals…) are horrible. I stood in the front for a long time while the girl who was there joked around with her friends, took a couple of calls before even acknowledging I was there… We could have at least had our wavier forms signed while she was«busy», but she didn’t tell us about that until when we were already paying, and we had to go finish those before she would complete our order. Second was for the kids they had giving out the rental equipment. They stood there watching people on the main lake while we stood there until someone coughed and asked for a board. Then they looked at each other confused and asked if we had paid. This was already included in what we paid, so we were confused and asked if we had to pay twice. They didn’t know where we were supposed to pay, or how much, and finally just handed us a couple of boards and lifejackets. Third were the people manning the big lake. They just throw you out on the lake in the middle of their safety speal/instruction. The big lake goes a lot faster than the beginner pools, even at it’s «beginner speed». When you get to the front, they hand you the rope and start going over a few key things, since it’s a little different from the smaller pools. But without warning in the middle of their talk they hook it onto the pulley and out you go, usually with a face plant into the water. Did I mention you have to go to the back of the line when this happens? It already takes a good 10 minutes in line to get to the front, and unless you’re a frequent flier, you will probably be crawling out of the water for round 2 in a few seconds. It wasn’t just us, but several people in line. I understand that they need to keep things moving, but they don’t even give you a ready, set, go, so it’ll yank you out into the water like that. Fun place, but you’ll need more than 2 hours if you’re starting from scratch.

Great way to give your kids and yourself the opportunity of learning to wake board without spending frustrating hours of boat fuel and time. We started frequenting this business as soon as it opened and the staff remembers us upon every return. Very nice and helpful staff. This is a happy place! Great for kids, families, team building… look forward to spending more summer time here!

We first tried Hydrous two weeks ago, and we loved it so much that we are going back next Tuesday. The main area looks awesome! Basically, it is a set up with a series of cables that tow you around on a wakeboard through small, man-made lake. Once you get good enough, you can ride laps around the main course, and even to stunts on ramps and other features. I am a middle aged man and I had never gotten up on water skis before in my life, so I didn’t know what to expect when I took my 8 year old daughter there. We went to the training area, and their staff was great. They got both me and my daughter up on our first tries. Definitely ask for James when you go. He is a really great teacher. He is able to give you small little things to change from one run to the next. After three attempts I was able to get up on the board really quickly and stay up all the way through. My daughter also really loved and it James kept telling her that she was a natural and would be a pro-wakeboarder soon. It may be that when you get out there and first see it, you are a little intimidated. I definitely was. After you actually get in the water and let the cable pull you up, you will understand why Hydrous is so cool. You should give it a try.
