The Darling Dog Pet Salon

Took our poodle/​yorkie mix for a bath and grooming. The staff was efficient, prompt, and caring. The grooming was the best we’ve had in a long time. We moved here from another city and have now found our dog groomer! Highly recommended!

Great place and great staff. I’m fairly new to the area and I have used them for boarding and grooming. They take great care of my little yorkipoo. Highly recommended!

I have recently relocated back to Allen after years and needed a dog groomer in the area. I found Darling Dog down the street. I called them and left a message to schedule a grooming. Nobody returned the call so I called them again a couple days later and spoke to somebody. She scheduled me for a Tuesday. I asked them if I needed to bring any paperwork or anything since I was a new customer. They said «just the dogs». I realized the next day that Tuesday wouldn’t work for me so I called them on Monday (not realizing they’d be closed on a Monday). I left a voicemail. I called back Tuesday and explained that I needed to reschedule to Friday if they had an opening. A friendly voice said it was not a problem.
I have 3 dogs that I have to regularly take to the groomer. I load them all up in my car and get them down there. I walk in the door and the people working say they don’t have me scheduled. I remind them that I had originally been scheduled for Tuesday and then moved to Friday. They eventually found it but said the appt was never moved and they’re short-​handed. I told them I was in a hurry (needed to get to another appt) but they then asked me for shot records. I told them that coincidentally I had their rabies shots in the car that I could get and she asked about bordatella and 1 or 2 other shots. I said I didn’t have them and that I specifically asked if I needed anything before bringing the dogs in. I’ve never had to have shot records for a grooming. Long story short we discussed and debated it for at least 5 more minutes. I asked her to make an exception (they were already trimming nails on one of my dogs) and she said they couldn’t. I told her I was very upset and this was not good customer service. She apologized but refused to help me out.
On the way home I called in and requested that the owner call me to work things out and give them a chance to address the issue and move past it. She said the owner would call me later that day or more likely the following day. Unfortunately I never heard back.
I really hate feeling like I go out of my way to avoid an issue just to run into it anyway. My dogs were then overdue for haircuts and I had to find them a different place to go and schedule a time and deal with all that when it could have been avoided. By the way, the new place… they didn’t ask for shot records. To top it off the owner not calling me showed me that they didn’t care about earning a new customer who has 3 dogs that have to get groomed every 8 weeks. Seems like somebody would want that business.

I have taken my cocker here for over two years. Jennifer is great and always welcomes Nico when he comes in. He is skittish and they make him comfortable. He always looks great when I pick him up. They know he is not accustomed to being in a crate and they call me immediately when he is done so he spends minimal time in the crate.
I read the review from the cavalier owner and I am sorry that happened to them but I have never had anything but good outcomes from them. I have used a few groomers over the years and have had one who nicked his skin so bad he needed antibiotics and another who got something in his eyes and they were bloodshot and I spent a week flushing them to get his eyes back to normal.
My vet uses this place and I feel if she trust them, Nico is in good hands. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because they do sometimes seem to keep him longer than I would like.
Good groomers are hard to find but I feel I have found one. Thank you!

We absolutely love love love this place. They take wonderful care of our dog Bear. All the staff are great and they have the best customer service. I would HIGHLY recommend them. We have been going here for a little over a year and not one time have we ever been treated badly. Our little dog goes twice a week to the doggie daycare and he loves it. We use them for boarding and grooming as well. This is a top notch trusting place.

I’m beyond upset. They shaved my dog’s whiskers ! If I could give zen zero star review, I would. Butchers.

Darling Dog did an awesome job on our sweet Vince today. He looks so handsome. I mentioned that he was attacked by a neighborhood dog years ago and explained how he gets scared around dogs he doesn’t know. They were so sweet and put him in a cage that was completely separate from the other dogs. Thank you for taking care of Vince!

The staff at Darling Dog was wonderful. It was our first visit. Jennifer walked us through the options and suggested the perfect groom for our Golden Retriever. He was a bit apprehensive but the staff was great. After his groom he stayed at the daycare. They kept an eye on him and even though he’s a bigger dog he is very shy, he was moved to a group of smaller dogs which was less intimidating. Jennifer called me throughout the day with updates on how he was doing. I will definitely be using them again.

I love the staff at Darling Dog. It is always so clean in there and they are friendly and loving with the dogs. I have used both grooming (repeatedly) and boarding (a couple of times). When I call to make an appointment, and say my name they always know exactly who my dog is. I was a little sad recently when my favorite groomer left, but we’ve had her groomed by others a couple of times since then and they’ve done a great job. I love having a dependable, local groomer — we were driving to far West Plano before these guys opened up and it just wasn’t convenient.

My dog used to hate going to the groomer. Now he’s OK with it, though he doesn’t love it. These folks obviously love dogs and always have a pawsitivie attitude!

I will NEVER take my dogs here again!!! I took my two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels here the day before Thanksgiving. If you’re a King Charles owner, most of you know NOT to cut their hair!!! I was very specific in telling the owner I absolutely DO NOT want their hair cut, only if there were knots they absolutely could NOT comb out. These people had no clue what they were doing obviously!!! My male, who has a really thick coat, omg… They have RUINED his coat! They were so lazy, they didn’t even try to comb him out… They just SHAVED HIM!!! His once gorgeous long slippers on his feet (which took YEARS to grow out!!) are GONE! SHAVED TO HIS NAILS! Also, his once long and beautiful coat on his belly is GONE!
This isn’t even the worst part… When we picked them up, it took several long minutes to get a straight answer from 3 of the people working there, where our dogs were. They kept looking at one another, avoiding the question. Then, one of them came out and stuttered something about «his hurt leg». Ummm… WHAT!!! He didn’t go in your shop hurt!!! She said when she had him on the table he must’ve «pulled» something because he started Unilocaling and limping! They were hurrying us out the door, no one would give us a straight explanation!
Once we got both of our babies in the car, they weren’t their usual peppy selves– they were clinging on to each other, trembling, scared to death. Like they had been tortured or something! I have never in my life seen them act this way!!!
DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOGS HERE!!! I’m going to do more research on this place and get to the bottom of this. I am beyond outraged!!!

Very pleased. Was our first visit here, and only our dog’s second experience at a groomer. Very friendly staff. She came out with pep in her step and smelling good.

Wonderful experience here. Staff and owner are great. They are extremely professional and the salon is extremely clean. We recently moved from Chicago to Allen and hated to leave our dog for a few days, but Darling Dog was the perfect choice. The dogs are let outside every 2 hours or so. We will be bringing our dog there again when we travel. I highly recommend to anyone who has to board pets when they are out of town.
