We have been with U.S. Tae Kwon Do Academy for two and a half, almost three years now. Both of our boys 7 and 5 have been taking class as well as I have. We started our oldest when he had just turned 5 because of a horrible bullying situation from school. Since then, he has developed such amazing confidence, focus and love for the martial arts. He will be graduating to an Adult Green Belt tomorrow. Our youngest son started right before he turned 4 because he wanted to be like his big brother and had grown to love the classes by watching his big brother in the little ninja program. He is now 5 and thriving in class at the dojo as well as at school. He has developed amazing focus(for a five year old) and determination to exceed expectations. I have done the program along with my children to help set an example for my boys as well. I am graduating to deputy black belt myself tomorrow and while it is a challenging program it is all worth it for myself but also for the bonding experience I have with my kids. As an adult, as long as you are in class, your child can do class with you. It is so fun to have this experience with them. There are great instructors at this Dojo and out boys have learned a great deal and have so much support from them. This support ranges from behavior to even grades at school. The leadership skills our boys have learned here is such an amazing thing to see and watch as they grow. Master Atoun has an extensive background in teaching in many places in public and private schools. It definitely shows when you watch and see how he manages all ages of children. He is both loving and encouraging to the kids and keeps them motivated and wanting to learn more. What I love the most is his expectations from the kids. There are to-do lists that are expected to be filled out each week for things like, making their bed, brushing teeth, showing black belt respect to your parents and/or teachers etc. It changes as they get older as well. Before graduating when in the higher belts, it is expected that the teachers also sign off on their behavior etc. in class. Master Atoun upholds himself to the same standards and it is amazing to see the example he sets for the kids as they grow and learn to expect it of themselves. We have had an amazing experience here at the U.S. Tae Kwon Do Academy and would recommend anyone looking to try martial arts either as an adult, for your kids or for something for your entire family to do together, to come here. You are always welcome to come watch a class and if you want to try it to see if you like it, you get two class and a uniform for $ 20 if you want to come and try a class before you decide.
