Visited with my husband and toddler on a weeknight for the first time. Staff was exceptionally warm, welcoming and helpful. Our child was having an off night and our server was very sweetly trying to make her visit enjoyable. Food was excellent, reasonably priced with good portions. Refills were prompt as was food service. Restaurant was very clean. We will be back!

If you are looking for quality, fresh, Asian food in Allen, Zen Chow is the place to try! We eat here several times a month or have delivery to the house and have never been disappointed. The Crab Rangoon is a favorite as well as the Hot and Sour soup, one of the best I have had in the area! Try the Kung Pao beef as well, everthing is fresh and delicious. We have tried most of the menu and have never been disappointed!

This is by far the worst asian restaurant i have ever been to. We went on a friday night and there was no other customer. That should have been a warning flag but we stayed and decided to give it a try. It smelled heavily of fish and the service was below mediocre. The food took a good 40 to 45 minutes to arrive. I ordered some kind of chicken and it was drenched in oil and completely soggy. Their food made me sick for a few days. This was an overall terrible experience.

Last night my husband, sister, and I dined at Zen Chow. My husband had been there once for lunch but couldn’t remember what he ate. He got Kung Pao chicken, I had Sweet and Sour Chicken, and my sister had Zen Chow’s Walnut Honey Mayo Shrimp. All of us loved our meals. I did have to ask for more Sweet and Sour sauce because I had so much chicken on my plate. I could have used more veggies with my Sweet and Sour Chicken, but it was absolutely delicious. Two of us had fried rice and one had steamed rice. I tasted my sister’s shrimp dish, it was very good. My husband’s dish was too spicy for me to taste, although he did give me one of the pieces of baby corn(yum). The service was very prompt and accommodating. We will definitely return. I want to try the Orange Peel Chicken for lunch. I wish they had free WiFi.

No flavor, rice is bland, lo mein is bland, and the meat was no better. Really disappointed, we won’t be going back again. I can look past our order being messed up, things happen… but the food wasn’t good either. When we went back to get our order fixed, they charged us more money. That’s messed up…

Best Kung Pao chicken I have ever had. The portion was huge and the flavor was enough to make one take notice and come back for another round of goodness.

I won’t be going here again. From the reviews I thought I was in for some pretty good Chinese food but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. We ordered the sesame chicken which wasn’t too bad, but the BBQ pork fried rice was horrible! The rice seemed old and greasy, the pork had zero taste. We also ordered the sweet and sour chicken which was over fried and extremely greasy as if they fried it earlier and then just threw it back in the grease once we ordered it to make it hot again. I’d say the best part of the meal were the pre wrapped fortune cookies… I have to also mention that the place has very little to no A/C and with our 100+ degree days, going into a restaurant, even if its just to place an order to go is very uncomfortable and quite disappointing.

I ordered the chicken fried rice to go for lunch. The taste was good so that was worth three stars. There was very little chicken in the dish and it was kinda pricey for lunch($ 10.00 with a drink). So that was why I could not rate any higher.

Tasteless, waste of calories. Literally tasteless. I know what you’re thinking: «not me, I’m going to have a different experience.» You won’t and it sucks. We are new to the area and are trying to find the local places, this is a huge miss. Just got to Pei Wei and feed to corporate machine

We love the design your own dish. Pick a sauce, 4 vegetables & a meat. Always enough food to take some home. Service is friendly & pieces right.

It’s easy to think all Chinese takeout is the same. Zen Chow is definitely different! With a few original menu items(Honey Walnut Mayo Chicken & Zen Chow Fried Rice to name just two) the options I’ve ordered have a great flavor. Huge portions and a nice quiet atmosphere. The DO have the standard Chinese restaurant items, but this is a place you can trust going«off the beaten path» with your order. Knocked off a star because delivery during peak times can be slow(sometimes even an hour) and one time they totally forgot my order. BUT… Food is my fav choice so I’m still ordering!

Food sucks! The end! That’s all I have to say about the food, but I’m adding more to this tip so that it will be a full blown review and this crappy restaurant won’t have four stars because they don’t deserve four stars. Horrible!!!

typical portions, overpriced, and tasteless food. I guess I should’ve requested more MSG. won’t be coming back here.

Completely horrible experience. Only one server for the entire dining room. At least six tables with dirty dishes on them. Arrived at 6:35. Drinks taken at 6:45. Food ordered at 6:50. When we still didn’t have food at 7:45 we told the waitress we were leaving. Our toddler had a total meltdown from waiting so long. No drink refills were offered. The phone was running off the hook the whole time. We had to change the station on the TV because it was playing something completely inappropriate for families. So disappointed.

This place is fantastic. I’ve tried many different dishes and been pleased with most of them. I’ve had my shu pork, sesame chicken, cashew chicken, chicken pad thai, crab rangoons and egg rolls. My lease favorite was the cashew chicken, but it wasn’t horrible. This place is great.

I went to the shops in Allen and wanted something cheap to munch on afterwards and stopped by Zen Chow. It’s a quint little place located in a strip mall, and for fast food chinese they are fantastic. My only complaint is the soup was luke warm, but other than that everything came out piping fresh and had a great price to portion ratio. They also have a daily lunch special for $ 5 which you can’t beat for soup, egg roll and entrée.

Ordered delivery for the first time on Thursday and was so pleased with their service! I ordered my usual dishes that I get for my family when we dine in. Delivery was here within the time they had said with all the special requests I had made. Awesome fast and free of charge delivery for orders over 15 bucks! extra gratuity for the friendly delivery guy :)

They delivered our meal within 30 minutes and everything was tasty. My SO got orange chicken, I got beef chow fun and hot and sour soup. Hot and sour soup: Like many other places in the DFW area, Zen Chow’s hot and sour soup is a bit too sweet and not spicy enough for my taste. However, the meat, tofu and mushrooms were generously portioned and tasty. I added some hot chili paste to my bowl and it made it a lot better. Beef chow fun: The beef was perfectly cooked, as were the noodles. It was not too oily and the texture was great. I wish there had been more scallions and perhaps more garlic in terms of the flavor. Orange chicken: I thought this was better than average orange chicken – crispy, flavorful, and not overly sweet. It has a nice spicy kick, too! As a side note, the portions are HUGE. I ate maybe a third of mine, which is fine by me because I have a feeling it will make for delicious leftovers.
