Great service, nice interior, and food is amazing. I got chicken tikka masala, kebab appetizer, naans and tandoori chicken, all amazing One of the best Indian restaurants i have been to, a great new excellent bergen county restaurant!

I wish I would give 4.5 stars to Nirvana but because Unilocal doesn’t allow it, I’ll have to settle with 4. Nirvana was a great addition to the Allendale shopping plaza, a spot that was formally Louie’s place. Unlike the aforementioned however, this place is actually quite busy. After eating here, I can see why. The service was very friendly, we were seated promptly and our water glasses were never empty. There was a point during the meal where my brother was clearly overwhelmed with spice and the owner, I believe, came over with yogurt sauce to ease his pain. As for the food, my party decided to order a few dishes and share, we tried the spicy chicken vindaloo, chili chicken and a vegetarian dish with cauliflower, I can’t quite recall the name of the dish. The vindaloo was extremely spicy but nice, the vegetarian dish was good but I felt the chili chicken was only okay, it reminded me of general tsos chicken from a Chinese restaurant. We passed on dessert, it was a little expensive but the quality of the food was spot on. Overall, I would definitely go back when I was in the mood for Indian, definitely give this place a try over Bombay hut in waldwick.

Best Indian lunch buffet in the area! Every dish I tried was really delicious and fragrant! They re-fill the buffet in small batches, so everything is fresh and hot, and different on every trip! There were some things that were close to empty on my first trip, that i was able to get on my second trip. My personal favorites were the chickpea salad, Chicken Tikka Masala, the mushrooms, and the dessert, honey balls. They also put a basket of fresh naan on the table, and there are sauces at the buffet if you like that. One note, they seem pretty strict about the 2:30 p.m. buffet closing, so make sure you get there in enough time to enjoy everything to the fullest! The buffet is reasonable at $ 12 — worth every penny! I will return here again!

I just returned from Nirvana and what was a most delightful experience The food was marvelous, and the owner and staff were most cordial and welcoming. My friend and I had the tamarind eggplant, the garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, and the fried rice with vegetables. It was my birthday celebration and the gracious owner presented me with a dish decorated with a birthday greeting and a delicious dessert. All in all, it was the most wonderful dinner I have had in recent memory. We shall return to work our way through their magnificent menu. The dining room is also quite lovely and the candlelight makes for a lovely atmosphere.

Had Sunday buffet. +ve: good ambiance, nice deserts, good nann bred, decent pakoda. –ve: Uncooked potatoes in chat, fish fry with raw masala flavor, «sweet» chicken tikka masala, worst Biriyani, no soups for buffet.

In a nutshell, nice place, nice waitstaff, food def. dzn’t justify the prices. Everything was«fine,» but frankly we were expecting to be wow’ed and simply weren’t. Honestly, I can’t think of another adjective besides«fine» to describe the majority of what we had: calamari, tamarind eggplant and chicken tikka masala. I can’t even describe the lamb rogan josh as «fine» because i didn’t really like it… found it pretty salty. Granted, I’m fairly new in the Indian restaurant arena, but so far this was my least favorite. Again, not bad, but I feel you can do so much better at a lower price.

Am writing this as I head back home after dinner. The food was good but service was awful. We went to celebrate my mother in law’s dinner and were relegated to a corner of the restaurant. The service was slow and when I say slow — the food took an hour to get to us from the time we ordered — for a party of three. The person serving us forgot the appetizer, and then forgot to bring our dinner plates. Worst is the couple sitting across from us kept shooting us dirty looks because my son made some noise. This place is NOT good for kids — its probably better suited for someone who has time to have a leisurely meal without kids accompanying them. That said, the malai kofta is a definite item to try. Its by far the best gravy I have had.

Went here last night with my daughter after hearing about the review in the NY Times. I am so excited to have found a great Indian Restaurant only 20 minutes from my house. We have tried at least 6 restaurants in Rockland and North NJ and this one beats them all. Food was amazing and the atmosphere was beautiful. Not tacky and very tastefully decorated. My daughter is in a wheelchair and they were so accommodating in finding just the right table for us. We usually eat Aloo Paratha, which wasn’t on the menu, so when I asked the waiter if they have it, he said they would make it for us. It was delicious and extremely tasty. The Chicken Korma was the best I have had in a very long time. Great place. I hope they last.

My wife and I went out on the town tonight in Allendale. We wanted to give something new a try, so we tried Nirvana. I don’t want to leave to much detail but this place was AMAZING. GREATFOOD, NICEPEOPLE, GOODAMBIANCE. Wife ordered a lamb dish and I ordered chick dish with a side of naan and okra and the food was legit Indian. In my opinion the food had some great flavor and some real nice spice. Everything we ordered were recommendations of the owner and he was on point. Can’t wait to go back!

Finally, great Indian in Northern NJ!!! I came here twice for the buffet lunch and for dinner and both times the food was outstanding. As an indian-american growing up in NJ, I’ve been to numerous indian restaurants and my biggest complaint is the excessive amounts of ghee and cream in the food. Not here. Not only are the dishes authentically indian, but they are also not too heavy. Also, while some indian restaurants focus on the big ticket meat items, like chicken tikka masala, this restaurant has both a wide selection of meat and vegetarian dishes. Buffet lunch is a staple of Indian restaurants but it runs the risk of not tasting fresh. But, everything in Nirvana’s buffet tasted fresh. For dinner, the chicken and lamb dishes are excellent. We ordered the Murgh Makhani, Rogan Josh lamb, Malai Kofta and Saag Paneer and we were really happy with everything. The naan is fresh and the desserts were solid. We did not go with the specials but we’ll definitely try them next time. And we’ll definitely be returning regularly!

Poor service and not so great food. We went for lunch and were rushed many times as we choose to order from the menu instead of taking the sloppy buffet. The buffet placement was dirty and placed in pans used in kitchen.

Plenty of parking as it is in the same mall as ACME(formerly A & P). Well apointed décor, and clean but a bit cold if you sit by the windows. We came on Sunday at lunch time which means buffet so we didn’t get the chance to truly try their kitchen selections. The food was still tasty and fresh with more than 10 items not mentioning salads and 2 different desserts. Friendly greeting at the door and quickly seated and only gave 4 stars mainly because it took a bit long to get our drink orders but Unilocal doesn’t allow 4.5 stars. The naan was freshly made to order after we sat down so it was nice and hot especially for a buffet unlike other restaurants where it sits out with the rest of the buffet. I love to come back during dinner or non buffet times and try their menu items so we can truly rate quality of food and service. Overall first expereience was good and you can count on us returning soon.

The food is unbelievable. We had the chicken wings as an appetizer, which were so tender. The main dishes were spiced to perfection and of sizable proportions. The ambiance is great for families or dates, and the service is attentive and friendly.

This restaurant is nice. The food is very good. The ambiance is pleasant. My only complaint would be that when I pay for a «bread» course… in this case a basket of naan, I expect more than 3 half pieces of naan. And if I’m paying for it, I kind of expect the basket to be re-filled when empty. This is what I’ve experienced elsewhere.

I have tried this restaurant couple of times First thing if you looking authentic indian taste then this is not the place to eat In taste wise it is no where close to indian if you want mild non spicy america indian food then definitely you like that place . Most of time we observe there is no salt at all in curries and while requesting spice level they just add chilly powder in curry. Laccha prantha — awful so hard can’t feel the softness of laccha pranthas, naan — seems like they serving ready to eat naans. Overall it is pricey place without real taste of indian food

We have been waiting for weeks for Nirvana to open and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious. I was so happy that they have a vegetarian section. AND they has one of my favorite fusion dishes Gobi Manchurian… Yummmmmm This will be one of my once a week indulgences. On our next trip I’m going to ask if they can make a dish spicier for me.
