I used to be a regular at back when they were on Macarthur road. They moved a few years back and I have been there quite a few times ever since. Never have they disappointed. Its a pretty restaurant with a tropical vibe right in the heart of Allentown downtown. Great atmopshere. Great times! My only pet peeve is they always run out of their beef and chicken patties. They are in high demand and I wish they could keep enough that would last beyond 6pm. The food… delicious. Try the curried goat or chicken. Delicious and its taste and spices are similar to East Indian cuisine. The oxtail is my favorite and is simply out of the world. Melt in your mouth, succulent with a beautifully complex sauce, that is spicy, tangy and wholesome. Their veggies can be cooked better, I have had instances where they were not cooked enough and lacked a little flavor. And just for that, I am giving them 4 stars instead of 5. The saltfish with aki, brown stew, jerk chicken and jerk pork are all wonderful. I once had their delicious coconut curry shrimp. Delectable. You can have it with rice or Roti, which is similar to the popular Indian flatbread Roti. Their’s is a little different but good nonetheless. Wash down your food with some Jamaican cola or their freshly amde smoothies. They even give you a courtsey sample of smoothie if you are in luck. Try them! So there goes my review. People of the Lehigh Valley, the Carribeans is not just about beaches and Bob Marley, give their food a try maan. You will be glad you did.

I stopped In last week for a fruit smoothie. It was delicious and the foods looked good so I decided to come back today. I got the jerk chicken platter. Mmmmmmm. Just fantastic! Spicy, tender, just the right amount of coconut.. The cabbage and plantains are a nice touch. It’s clean, comfortable in here. I definitely recommend this gem and will return often.

Pros: excellent favors! The callaloo was excellent, the rice and beans were exactly as my Puerto Rican friend’s made and the fried plantains were superb. The jerk was mouthwatering and perfectly balanced. The service was great. Cons: the lamb(jerk lamb) was so overdone that it was dry as a bone and as chewy as old rope. Disclaimer: I went toward the end of the day.

Great home style Jamaican food. I eat lunch here on a regular basis. Food is fresh, hot, and tasty. I like the curry chicken and jerk chicken. The cabbage served with the meal is also very nice. Lunch special at about $ 7.50 with drink is a great deal. I think their meat patties are probably frozen /store bought but I like them anyway.

I was very happy with my experience here and will be back. Very fair prices, quick and friendly service – the thing that would give it five stars is if the food was out of this world, but it was merely very good.

I was in the area and wanted some west indian food so I went to Unilocal and found this little jem. There was metered parking out front, just make sure u got some coins. Inside the restaurant was very nice, the wicker chairs gave it a nice touch. The Unilocalers were right, this is a one man show lol We waited a lil bit for our order to be taken but I gotta say, the owner/chef was very friendly, along with the guy making the natural drinks and yes, that is paid to him separately, so make sure you have cash on you. The wife enjoyed her drink We had the food to go but I wouldnt mind staying there to eat as the ambiance is very nice for a small place. Well, on to the main event… ordered 3 dishes, oxtail, curry and goat so the family and I could have a lil of everything and see what we liked. First off, being from the islands I gotta say the rice is AMAZING! Best rice I ever tasted hands down(Sorry Mom lol) The chicken and goat was ok but the oxtail was very good and would be back for that. All in all, the owner is super friendly and makes some nice dishes. You cant go wrong with the oxtail, but please try the peas and rice OMG you would not regret it.

This is by far one of the best Caribbean food places that I’ve ordered from. I ordered the jerk lamb and it was so tasty. It was packed with lots of flavors. Great portions and great service too.

We stopped in here on a very cold winter day to try something different with our children. We warmed up very quickly– warm service, nice décor and delicious food! While I thought the price was a little high I must say the portions were large and filling. We had curry chicken, curry goat and jerk chicken with sides of rice and beans, plantain and steamed cabbage. All were excellent and there was very little left at the end. With two young children, that’s saying something! We will definitely be back when the weather is warm so we can pass the time listening to Bob Marley and pretending we are on an island getaway!

Amazing food with an at home taste. I recommend jerk chicken, ox tail, or jerk pork. The portions are nice I usually get the large platter. Also try a Jamaican soda

I had the carrot juice and curry goat. The goatwas tender full of flavor and was awesome with the rice. The plantain was dry and no flavor but the veggies were good. The second plate was jerk chicken, it was dry lacked flavor however the sauce made it a bit better. That was not finished. The restaurant was clean and the gentlemen who served us where really nice. I would go back and try other things tho.

Delicious Jamaican food, especially the oxtail and the curry chicken, friendly service, very reasonably priced, and conveniently located across the street from the Holiday Inn — I highly recommend this restaurant!

The only place in town for Jamaican food. That said, food is great, service is quick, & price is reasonable.

Today was my first time experimenting with Jamaican cuisine, and I must say that I am very happy that my family happened upon this jewel in downtown Allentown. It was lunchtime on a Saturday afternoon, and we were starving. We were in the mood for Asian, and were headed to a Thai place three doors away, but it was closed. We were going to drive to Bethlehem to a Peruvian restaurant, but all of us were starving and decided to walk a bit to see if anything struck our fancy. I am so glad we decided to keep walking. We walked into this very clean, well decorated, very homey restaurant, and there were no waiters, no maitre’d, no nothing — just one lone man behind the counter. This place is literally a one man show. This guy sat us down, took our order, cooked it for us, served it, and took our check at the end. I LOVEDTHISPLACE!!! It was so clean, the food was yummy yummy, and the service was excellent, although this man was by himself, and had four other tables to tend to besides ours. The next time I go to Allentown, I will definitely go back here. The curry chicken was delicious, so was the dirty rice. Don’t miss this place! So good, and so inexpensive! Definitely worth a shot!!!
