I was at this hibachi a few years ago for my nephews birthday. He loves watching the chef prepare the food in front of him and overall everyone had a good meal and was entertained in the process. After trying to order a drink the waitress told us that the hibachi had been bought by new owners and they no longer sell alcohol. Good to know. We ordered our food: filet and scallops, fried rice and 2 rolls of sushi for the table. The chef was there quickly and was very fun for the kids to watch. They brought miso soup and a salad out to everyone. The soup was bland; usually there is mushroom, tofu, onion in the soup – it was just broth. Last time the salad had a delicious ginger dressing, this time it was closer to a creamy/sweet Russian dressing. The food was prepared very fast, my steak and scallops were cooked perfectly. The sushi roll arrived mid meal – we ordered it as an appetizer. The second roll never arrived, we had to ask the waitress to remove it from our bill. Overall, this was not the experience I was expecting. The food was ok as long as you stick to the hibachi menu. Otherwise, we were disappointed.

This was, at one time, my absolute favorite hibachi restaurant. It closed down and opened back up to a horrible place. 100% not the same and will not be back.

We went to this restaurant on 7÷3÷15 with about 30 people(softball team and parents). They did a very good job with the group and the food was very good. I would definitely go back to this restaurant when we are back in Allentown. We enjoyed sushi, the free shrimp appetizer and also the hibachi. Service was good, the restaurant was clean, portions were excellent, environment was fun, the food was good and the hibachi cooking and entertainment was par with any hibachi I have even been to. I personally had the rainbow rolls, free shrimp appetizer, soup, salad and the hibachi filet mignon and salmon. All was very good. Although not a concern for me, they do have a BYOB policy.

Used to love this place when I lived out here for a short while. Now it’s BYOB– no alcohol or beer. Just soda and water… what are we 10 yrs old? NEXT! I’ll stick to Benihana in NYC!!!

We just returned from a hibachi dinner at Teppan. The five of us enjoyed our food, the service and the«show». We had steak, chicken, shrimp and vegetarian dinners. The hibachi chef was most gracious and our youngest family member(age 6) giggled throughout the food preparation, as he was very entertaining. Everything about the meal was good and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. Clean and comfortable restaurant. Worth a try! We’ll be back to have their sushi next time.

What a steal! My gfs and I met there last night with a couple of bottles. Byob. The staff was attentive and knowledgable. $ 20 for hibachi with soup and a small salad. The hibachi chef was funny but not intrusive. We shared the love roll, delicious! We will all definitely be back soon!

The Hibachi Chef was not Japanese, but had the best hibachi skills we’ve seen in a while. The prices were on the cheaper side of hibachi, and the restaurant was clean. We will be returning again!

We have been coming here for over 10 years. New Owner, scaled down menu and BYOB! However, they have complimentary sake if you like it. We have been coming here for over 10 years. Server was quick and attentive. Chef was friendly and quick with mad spatula skills! Food was above average!!! We’ll be back!

This used to be my favorite sushi spot! Not anymore. The rumor is that they’ve come under new ownership. I went tonight and despite the new ownership they kept the exact same menu. However, nothing comes out looking like the picture anymore. Smaller, cheaper sushi rolls at the same price. SO disappointing. Bring back the old owners. STAT.

One of the worst meals I’ve ever had. They used to just be a sushi and hibachi but they are trying to be a tapas place now. Terrible meal.

PARKING: parking lot is very big. INSIDE: decorations are very modern. Red paint on the walls. We sat at the sushi bar. They have the big Japanese looking heads on the counter. In the back they have grill cooking stations where they cook in front of you and the cook puts on a show. FOOD: we asked if they had gyoza appetizer, which they did not have on the menu, but the owner I think it was the owner, said yes they can make it for us. Our server did not even know what they were or how to spell it, but she was Caucasian, and I guess in Pennsylvania it’s is not common if you do not eat Japanese food a lot like in California bay area where we are from. He asked if we wanted the gyoza a steamed or panfried. The dipping sauce was more sweet than I am used to, but it was good. The sushi chef gave us a fried fish appetizer that was quite good with four fish fillets and sauce on top with green onions. I liked it. I ordered the 007 roll which had spicy crab cream cheese and the outside it was deep-fried. I really enjoyed this, and I would order this again. One of the servers said this is his favorite too. The clams are made in a butter sauce. The green tea is served with a green tea bag, and the server gave me sugar packets to go with it. I guess this is something more common on this side of the US because in California in the bay area you drink your tea like green tea or jasmine tea without any extra sugar. STAFF: everyone there was really nice to us. It’s also helped too that we were the only ones there on a Wednesday night from 8 o’clock to 9 o’clock. Shortly after we got there there was one group that came for the grill cook section. OVERALL: I like to be inside atmosphere and the environment. It is a big restaurant inside. I feel like every person on the staff came to talk to us or take plates away which I think each person was probably bored because we were pretty much the only ones there. NOTE: it is BYOB, which I did not know was allowed. But hey I guess why not and saves money I suppose for the customers.

Teppan of Tokyo is under new ownership, and the food is fantastic! So far, I have had the tapas and sushi section of this restaurant. Both were absolutely delectable. You must try the Tuna Tataki and the 007 Roll at the sushi bar, as well as the Sake Salmon and the Thai Dumplings with Spicy Peanut Sauce on the tapas side. From what I have seen, the hibachi chefs put on a great show that captures the guests and makes their experience memorable.

Note this was/is one of my fav restaurants in the valley however, tried to go there for my birthday a couple weeks ago and it was closed, the phones are disconnected. Tried going again last night And it said that it’s closed for renovation. However… I love the sushi at this place, specially the tiger roll. My husband loves the sashimi as it is super fresh. The green phoenix app and the crab salad are to die for. I am not a big fan of their hibachi.

Our experience here was 100% awful. The service was appalling. It took us 3 hrs to get through dinner. We spend tons of time waiting and watching others that were seated after us eat. We complained multiple times and nothing was done. To make matters worse, the food was not very good at all. We will stick to A1 or Kome, both are much better!

Stopped in here for a hibachi dinner after a day at Dorney Park. Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the meal– and we had no issues with the service at all.(After reading some of the negative reviews below, I had some reservations, but we didn’t experience any of the problems mentioned in those reviews. As to the food, the hibachi steak was tender and flavorful. Our chef was entertaining and interacted with the children at the table. There were several birthdays being celebrated in the restaurant which involved a ritual banging of a gong and flashing disco lights(lol). The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. We ordered a couple of the special cocktails and they were not so good. Probably a good idea to stick with bottle beer here. Overall it was a sold 3 star meal.

I’ve been coming here for years and while I spend most of my time in Philly, I really do think Teppan has some of the better sushi in Allentown. This is my go to place for a sushi craving because the prices and portions are very reasonable. I was just there last week and service was fast and friendly. Give it a try, better yet try the«love roll». It’s my new favorite roll from Teppan. Must have sushi roll.

We went here 1 ½ months ago, and I had high hopes for this place, but I really wish it was better. The service was great — friendly waiter, chef, and we were greeted with hot towels after we sat down.(Which was nice because it was cold outside.) Overall, the food was okay. The fried rice was pretty good, as was the Shrimp. However, I did think there was a little bit too much salt on the food. However, the Filet wasn’t good ATALL. Both me and my mom thought it tasted funny. Price of $ 190 after taxes and 15% tip was fairly reasonable, for about 4 filet & shrimp orders, soup, salad, noodles, fried rice, and dessert. Hopefully this place will improve, but I doubt it will. I would probably suggest finding another place for Hibachi, if you can.

Well fellow Unilocalers. I am sorry to inform you all of the disastrous experience that was my and my friends’ supper tonight. We waltzed into Teppan, highly anticipating our meals after a very busy day at the nearby Dorney Amusement Park. Little did we know that it would be another hour until we had something to satiate our rumbling bellies. Yes, I said an hour. ANHOUR(51 minutes to be exact). In correspondence with another review written on this page, the service at Teppan is atrocious. Our waiter disappeared before we could even order our meal. When she did come she was disdainful and rude. We even heard her call us crazy to her fellow coworker. ANYWAY, we came to Teppan on a very relaxed Monday night. In other words, the restaurant was not busy at all. So, when we arrived at the restaurant at 8:30, we thought there would be plenty of time to eat before we had to meet our bus in the parking lot at 10 pm. Well, there wasn’t enough time, and now my friend is eating her sushi(that she had to get to go) on our hotel room bed. Service is awful. The workers are disdainful. The experience renders the food bland and unsatisfying. Would not recommend.
