This place won’t survive much longer. I like their retro décor, and the foods not bad. The service is awful. We were 2 of 4 people in the place and it took 10 minutes before a server came over. We almost left but decided to stay. Another 40 minutes later we got our food. There’s too many good places in Alliance to waste your time. If you’re looking for a small place for a quick bite maybe try College Inn?

This diner isnt bad. Food took a little longer than i wanted. Price was very affordable. The waitress was very polite and she was on top of refilling my coffee. Had a decent omelette. Maybe add some hash browns with it instead of just toast.

I said wow when I saw the club sandwich — 4 slices of wheat toast with sliced ham between the first two and bacon lettuce and tomato between the next two slices of wheat and then sliced roast beef between the final two — it was a trick eating half — lets just say the fries were good — oh and the apple sauce pretty steep $$$ for a cold cut sandwich Atmosphere was nice and 50ish no music though that would been nice — I saw it I probably won’t be back for sometime

All their fried items are excellent. Love the fish. They have decent burgers, chicken, sides and such. The pies are good. Service is usually pretty bad, but the atmosphere is worth the stay. The one in Minerva is better.

Been here several times now, our son goes to Mt Union. Very good blueberry pancakes, eggs cooked well & the home fries are thin & crispy like hash browns. My only complaint is the coffee, not strong enough. We will continue to go back!

I will say this is my Hometown so i may be a little Bias! I remember a long time ago when before Doug Wright Had it it was a Car Hop called Fred’s Root Beer with the olé Neon Root Beer Mug Sign! Then in my teen Doug bought it and turned it into Doug’s Classic 57 he ran it out of the Old Red Run down building(Fred’s Original Bldg). The food was classic and turn key with Doug acquiring the building and business and recipes including many of Doug and his Wife Norma’s own recipes! They carry the original Stewart’s Root Beer and its delicious and the best i can say all around. You get a chilled mug of it when ordering dining in! The food is symbolic retro of the 50’s i feel to a tee! You got the rippled wedges fries which you can get regular, with Butter, Gravy, Cheese fries, or a Combo which is cheddar cheese and their signature Coney Island Coneys Sauce! Speaking of Coney’s you can get a regular or a 12 inch Foot long, and let me tell you one of them with some fresh onions is a piece of heaven! They also make their own batter which is the batter for their Delicious State Corn Dogs, and Their Onion Rings. The have many Blue Plate Dishes like open faced Sandwiches to turkey and Fried Chicken dinners! Their menu is surprisingly ample for many taste and even the picky eater will definitely find something of their liking! The have cheeseburgers then to the Pizza Burger which is a special burger made by Doug Himself! You have nostalgic sub sandwich called the Mr «B». the The King KONg Burger to the Topper! Lets also do a honorable mention to the classic«DAGWOOD» which features more then you can imagine on a towering build sandwich which will blow you mind! I could go on and on and yes i am proud of my City Alliance and its local businesses especially the olé time Mom and Pop eatery’s, so if you want good food, for a great price in a cool Nostalgic Diner showcasing a lot of Doug’s very own private collection of memorabilia from way back when, then you must go and try them. You must go and tell Doug himself hi, for he is normally sitting at the counter right besides the Fountain soda machine chooching and chattin with the locals along side with the staff. I will even state for the record i worked for Doug for a short time in my youth and he was a easy pleasant and witty and charismatic, I give this a definite thumbs up and say«Go check it out for yourself»!

Fifty years and going strong… at least the over 50 years my family has visited here. In those days a car hop came to your car, took the order and delivered the food on a metal tray which attached to the car window. I checked today and that is a thing of the past. The food is good, delivered quickly and hot. My only complaint is the onion rings which were truly the best I’ve ever had are no longer blotted when they come out of the fryer and rest in your container in a pool of oil.

The definition of insanity is repeating the same behavior and expecting a different result. I have eaten at this Doug’s three times now. About three years goes by between visits. Long enough time for me to forget how bad this place is. It says on the menu that they grind there own beef daily to ensure quality. Well this sounds promising. I ordered a bacon double burger and I asked if it could be cooked medium. The waitress actually said no. Really? No. Well she warned me. Not only was it not medium it was way past well done. Totally had the crap cooked out of it. What kind of diner can’t make a decent cheeseburger? Doug’s 57 can’t.

The food here is nothing to get excited about. I never choose to come here and am quite disappointed when a friend does. Service is usually pretty good.

This place is in my home town so its got a place in my heart. Its a retro, 50’s style diner with the menu to match. I recommend the milkshakes(they even bring you the extra in the metal cup). I usually get the potato soup, chicken salad sandwich, and cheese fries. They give huge sides of fries so get ready for very tasty, deep fried, crunchy fries. Over the 14 years I’ve lived here I’ve had a ton of items on the menu and nothing has disappointed. They even have a King Kong food challenge, ask your server about it and check out the same plaque on the back left wall. Some of those challengers have great nick names. The servers are pretty good. the place is one big room so its hard to miss a diner in need. Definitely, a better place to stop than a chain for your burgers and fries.

Doug’s 57 is a classic 50’s diner. Nothing special. I had a bacon cheese burger and onion rings. Burger was nothing to write about but was good. Onion rings were homemade but the corn meal crust I didn’t care for. I think they make their own corn dogs and use the same batter. Overall a ok place to stop for lunch.
