What happened?! Why did they close? One of the best spots in all of Alston/Brighton.

I love this Columbian food spot. They have a nice sitting area and food is delicious. They have a pork strip plates with eggs and beans with rice hope you have a empty stomach.

I walked in and wanted to try some new food. But once I walked in, the two waitresses were really rude. They had trouble understanding American English and one woman was so mean. She looked like she want to kill me with her stares in complete silence. I felt really uncomfortable and then couldn’t even skim through the menu so I just walked out. There was no greeting when you come in. It was dead silence. They were counting money as the registers and looks like they’re about to close. I asked if they’re closing already and the other woman just yelled out NO we are not close!!! Now I know why there are only 2 occupied tables during dinner time at 7pm.

Excellent Colombian Food. The portions are huge but still delicious and not heavy for Colombian traditional food. The staff was very friendly and the food tasted fresh. I’m from Colombia and I have to say this is the best Colombian restaurant I have been in the Boston area. Looking forward to come back.

Camino«NO» Real…(worst Colombian food I’ve ever had!) Take it from a Latino/a foodie… this place sucks! The only good thing about my experience was the courteous server. The food gave us the RUNS –literally NOBUENO. Apps: –Chorizo con Arepa– it had a very distinguished texture and taste than what a real chorizo would normally taste like. –Chicharron con Arepa: Was not bad, this is something that can’t really be messed up because it is deep fried. Entrée: –Plato Paisa: This plate had everything over cooked and was pretty much tasteless. The only good thing was the rice and the Chicharron. The beans tasted like they were refrigerated and poured out of a can. The coleslaw also seemed like it was a day old. I was excited about cutting the egg yolk and letting it run over the rice, but when I went to do that, I found it to be pretty much a hard boiled egg. We were not asked how we wanted the meat cooked and it came out very well done. Then we cut into the fried plantain, and this was also over cooked and not ripe enough to be served. Having had real Colombian food elsewhere; I asked for chimichurri and homemade hot sauce, only to find a tasteless chimichurri and a hot sauce made with Tabasco sauce. In conclusion, the amount of food you get will fill you up, but you will walk away unsatisfied, and definitely not looking forward to a dessert menu. Totally not impressed and will never be going back again. We should have known better when we walked in the door and saw no one there at dinner time. Little tip: if you want real Colombian food go were the locals live or dine at; East Boston.

i have nothing to say about the actual experience because he has ordered the take out and brought it back with us. the food was just meh. only had the one dish(the steak churrasco) but it wasnt all that great. i’d probably try a different dish from there. dont know if it was just the night or what. PORTIONSWERELARGE! decent size size, ton of rice, and alot of french fries– plus chimichuri– would definitely give it a second chance.

This is definitely Colombian comfort food! The portions here are huge when you get it to-go. For $ 11 I got at least 3 meals worth of Arroz con Pollo(rice mixed with shredded chicken, carrots, peas, tomatoes and scallions). While I enjoyed the texture of rice/shredded chicken, the taste was fairly one-note to me. I could mostly just taste chicken and the occasional pea. The carrots and shallots don’t really come through at all, and certainly no tomatoes. Mixing the(delicious!) fried plantains into the rice adds a needed depth to the dish and is highly recommended. I’ve ordered the beef stir fry in the past and would get it again – more interesting flavors! Note that whenever a dish supposedly comes with«salad,» when you get it to-go(unsure about in the restaurant) it is almost always actually cole-slaw.

Food was great, we were coming down from Canada and this was the only Colombian restaurant that we found in the way back to jersey. Food was good, service was good. I had a Bandeja Paisa, which was really good. Service could always be better but not bad! Place was big too for groups, we where 8.

I am giving this such a low rating because I am comparing to Colombian food that is actually good. I’m from NY and this place is nothing compared to what authentic Colombian food tastes like. The rice was good… Please consider another place. This just did not feel of taste right. I’m sure there’s a better place out there.

Food is good but service is terrible. The lady who served us did not even know how to hold a tray with 3 cups on it, she did not take away our dirty dishes before the dessert came, and rolled her eyes when I asked for a napkin. This place needs better service. I’m beyond disappointed.

Riquisimo. Probamos la carna asada y el plato paisa. Ademas de la salchicha Columbiana. El chicharon buenismo. Soy de PR y me sentí como si estaba en casa. Regresamos

Courteous staff, enormous portions, & delicious taste for those who’ve never tried Colombian food. Don’t be fooled by the $$ label; while it’s true that the main entrée costs between $ 12-$ 16 each, the amount of food that they load onto each plate can keep you satisfied for 2+ meals! Appetizers– I decided to try their Chorizo con Arepa(Colombian Sausage With Corn Cake). For the price of ~$ 4, i got a huge piece of pork sausage that had just the right amount of smoky taste and tasted amazing paired with the 2 corn cakes. If you plan on eating here with a +1, trust me when I say that one order of this is enough for the both of you. Main course– I got to try 2 dishes: the Bisteck a Caballo(Grilled Beef Topped with Creole Sauce) & Lengua a la Criolla(Boiled Tongue In Creole Sauce). The grilled beef came with heaping portions of juicy beef covered with creole sauce, which tasted mostly like tomato with hints of garlic and other seasonings to give it a lightly salty and sweet flavor that I immensely enjoyed. If that wasn’t enough, the dish also came with a bowl of rice & beans, 2 sweet plantains, and macaroni salad with shredded lettuce mixed in. Needless to say, there would be leftovers. As for the beef tongue, I was very surprised by how soft the meat was. Like the beef, the tongue was also covered with creole sauce, which gave it the same flavor. However, I enjoyed the texture of the tongue a lot more, since it was ridiculously tender compared to the beef. The kitchen was also kind enough to give half of the tongue, which is very generous considering how large this cut of meat is. The dish also came with some stewed yucca, bowl of rice, and the same macaroni salad as before. For the amount and quality of food we got, the $ 15 dollars per person price tag was a steal. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely be back to try their other cuisines.

Huge, flavorful and cheap portions make this place great. We each got the arepas with chorizo to start, and we realized it was unnecessary to have ordered 2 because we received so much chorizo! The arepas were very well made and the chorizo was smoky with tons of flavor. We shared the Plato paisa and there was so much food! Great chicharrones, rice, beans, steak and a plantain! All of the above we got for under $ 25! The only drawback of this place is that there’s no alcohol.

Their mountain dish is spectacular! Under $ 11 for 2 people is a deal. Colombian style chicarron(pork belly) fried is nice and fresh every time. Rice, beans, grilled flank steak, fried plaintains, over medium well egg and an arepa come on this plate and even delivered taste nice and fresh. Parking is a bit difficult but once you get a spit you can hang around there for a while lots of stuff to do around that area including the draft which you can go have a nice fresh draught after dinner at the Camino Real. Cheers

This is definitely my favorite place to eat in Allston. Great food, nice portion sizes. They don’t serve alcohol FYI, but there are plenty of bars around to get a drink afterwards. I usually get the Bistek encebellado. Delicious

This is my favorite delivery place in the Allston/Brighton area. The delivery boxes that we get are easily big enough for 2(my husband) to 3(me) meals. Well worth the $ 12 price per dish. My husband’s favorite is Bisteck a Caballo and mine is Bisteck Encebollado. Bisteck Encebollado has a really great onion and sauce mixture. My husband’s favorite part of the Bisteck a Caballo is that it comes with eggs on it. The to-go dishes are filled with meat, rice, veggies, plantains, eggs(a Caballo), and also have a side of beans and a coleslaw type of salad. So good. We’ve tried a few other entrees which have been very good, but we always come back to these two dishes. Also, the empanadas are delicious. Highly recommend this place, at least for delivery(which is what I have monthly!)

Camino Real was a nice surprise. We stopped in on a recent snowy night craving some Latin cuisine. Parking on Harvard St. can be challenging any time be we got lucky and parked within a block. The restaurant had a comfortable atmosphere and service was friendly and efficient. The menu has a broad offering of beef, pork, chicken and seafood entrees. They typically come with plantains and rice. Portions are very large and you will most likely be leaving with leftovers. A side of beans cost 3 bucks and was enormous, easily enough for 2 or 3 people. You will love the prices, we had two entrees and a side dish and the bill was $ 22. They also do a steady take out business in case parking situation is impossible.

My Colombian friend brought me here for lunch. He had been raving over it for months and I was finally able to go with him. I got the Plato Paisa with chicken at his request since it had a good variety of food. Overall, I was impressed. It came with plantains, pork rinds(who knew they weren’t always chips?), rice, beans, and salad(cole slaw). It was probably enough for two meals, but I decided to make it a combined lunch/dinner since it was past lunch time already. We went mid-afternoon on a weekday and it was pretty dead. There was only one other couple there, but then again who really goes out for lunch at 3pm? The décor was interesting. There was an 80s chandelier in the middle of the restaurant recessed into the ceiling and surrounded by mirrored wall panels. It reminded me of a Chinese restaurant, but the walls and everything else was updated and modern. It didn’t blow me away, but I definitely enjoyed both the food and the experience. I’d go back.
