H&R Block

I wish there was an option of ZERO star to this office. They give you appointment and then make you wait for hour an a half! And then when you ask them why did you call me with time and appointment, she’ll say I don’t know why? Wth? They processed my tax in a wrong way. When I found that out and asked them about it, the agent accepted her fault and asked me to return my tax papers to her and she’ll refund the fee. And the next day same rude secretary calls me saying that I have to meet their boss and that they never made any mistake in filing my taxes. And she said it in like if she is warning me as if I did something wrong? Wtf. I found them least professional and most greedy!

Very rude on the phone when I called to simply schedule an appointment. Ended up seeking other tax service companies.

I wish I could give stars lower than this.
So I went to Helen who has listed herself an an expert on international taxes to help me out.
To begin with — she started commenting on my salary and immediately raised her fees (who does that? And if you want to do that don’t make it so obvious to me!!)
I wish there was a way to find out how much you need to pay in advance to avoid such malpractice.
Then, she started filing my return as a resident even though I told her I am on a student visa.
When I asked her about exemptions for India, she said there were none.
From filing using a software provided by my school, I know for a fact that there are exemptions.
So when I mentioned that, this lady who is an expert in international taxes brought me a file with exemptions for all the countries and asked ME to find my own — HELLO WHAT AM I PAYING YOU FOR AGAIN?!
Finally when I explained to her that she is doing it wrong and that I will bring in previous year returns for her to look at and asked for another appointment, she said — «Indian people don’t want to pay.»
«If you don’t want to pay, don’t come back!»
Hell yeah! I wont pay for a wrong return and I am definitely not coming back.
I cannot believe HnR Block that claims to be an expert in taxes employs such people! Uninformed to say the least and I do not want to comment on her remarks about Indian people.

What a waste of time. I brought last year’s taxes to H&R Block for their «Second Look Review». I had an appointment but had to wait for 10 minutes because the agent was still with the customer before me. After waiting 10 minutes, the agent started to help me but had to leave to answer a personal phone call. She came back and had to leave again to finish with the customer who was there before me. Finally, she came back with her full attention to help me with my taxes. She looked at my forms for a brief minute and said there is nothing she can offer me. I started asking her about my taxes for this year and she kept repeating herself that «I have to pay» because I’m no longer paying tuition. She then LEFT and didn’t allow me to ask the other tax questions I was planning on asking. I’d rather figure out the murky confusing world of the IRS than deal with the incompetency in this office again.

I’ve been coming to this particular H&R Block for the past three years. I’ve been growing and maturing as a working professional during that time, and it’s almost like this store has been going on the same journey with me! I stepped into the doors today to file my taxes, and it was a very welcome surprise. It was gorgeous inside… Wow!
Bear in mind that I had been coming here since it was a slightly grungy, dark open office space… And to see it transformed into a bigger, brighter, cleaner working area with separate cubicles for each tax professional? Like I said, wow. Complete 180 from what I remembered. There are even two separate waiting areas now (one had a coffee machine in the corner), and a large front desk/​receptionist space – a far cry from what they had in years prior. Aesthetics aside, I always come here because they’ve consistently delivered quality service… And that peace of mind bit, where they’ll pay for auditing expenses (should that happen – heaven forbid), definitely takes a load off my shoulders.
I’ve been helped each year by the same lady: Helen. We really fill out the forms together, which makes me feel good because I know EXACTLY what goes into my filing (s). She goes the extra mile to get me all the deductions for which I qualify, which I greatly appreciate. She also tells me each year that I should buy property, ha, but that’s neither here nor there. I guess that’s just another example of how Helen always thinks about how I can shelter my money from too much tax.
Anyway, this year was the priciest tax year yet (1099-​MISC, 1099-​INT –and– W2… Schedule C, never again!!!), but I have that peace of mind, as I said before (only $ 35 extra). And Helen saved me about 2K… even if I did have to shell out a pretty penny for that savings. Not a bad ROI overall, though.
I’ll definitely be back next year… With a less complicated tax situation. All W2s this year! Helen, I’ll definitely be in early to take advantage of that $ 39.95 filing… No more 1099-​MISCs… for your sake and mine. :o)
