First time having Korean BBQ and it was pretty good. My friend brought me here and showed me the ropes. We got the pork belly and beef as meats and on the side had japchae and their seafood veggie pancake. The japchae was delicious. Good balance between the beef, veggies and glass noodles. The seafood pancake was tasty as well! The pork belly has no seasoning, so make sure you use the salt, pepper and miso sauce. I think my favorite of the beef. It was very flavorful and I couldn’t stop eating it! Overall a good experience and I would come back. Oh, and they have some sides that come with the meal as well.

The best time to go here is probably weekday lunch; otherwise it’s quite expensive for the area. Jap Chae was 16 $, ok but a bit salty. Nice ambiance and nice side dishes.

Worst Korean restaurant Ive been to period. We were not greeted until about 10 minutes after we were seated. It wasn’t a busy night at all, many employees talking and laughing at the front. I ordered beef in broth after asking the waitress what was good on the menu or popular she had not one item to suggest. She then returned with kimchi and etc which looked like it was sitting out for the past hour. The food then arrived shortly after which had a very unpleasant bland and un-fresh meat flavor. After the whole experience thus far I decided that I wasn’t going to go through with it all and pay for bad service and bad food. When I explained they had 3 – 4 waitresses come over and everyone had a confused face as if they didn’t understand what I was saying, the owner did not even walk over and say a word he seemed more interested in talking to his cute waitresses! Paid for my beer and left. Will never go back and if your looking for Korean food there are actually many in the area 1 – 5 mind walking distance. Don’t waist your money and time.

Again a combined Asian food restaurant but mainly Korean food. You can have BBQ and hotpot there. Diverse choices and food is really good, so glad I got to eat rice cake again! well but the checking out is soooo slow, the waitress seemed to forget us completely

The food is good, but the prices for BBQ are ridiculously high. Service was standard. IF I found myself in the area and IF I was with someone who REALLY wanted to go, I wouldn’t protest. IF I went back, I would order a regular entrée and not order BBQ. That’s enough IF’s. For me alone, it’s not worth the trip out to Allston. Meh, I’ve experienced better.

First of all, I love korean BBQ. I think I ate in almost every kbbq place i could find in boston and this place is probably the best one yet. The meat was phenomenal, they have THEBEST galbi that i had ever tasted in my life. Whenever I go to a korean restaurant, I always order their jeon aka their pancake(the one that i order was seafood pancake) it was so delicious. If you are a kbbq fan and also korean pancake fan, I 100% recommend this place to you ^^. However their ddakbokki was okay… Overall, this place is just amazing. The only downside is the pricing… especially their meat in the kbbq section, it cost more than what a normal kbbq restaurant would have(Just a little.).

Went there twice. The first experience was okay, the second was terrible. We order a place of grilled kalbi beef, but there are no more than 6 pieces of beef in the over $ 20 place. Not enough waiters there so every one of them seems so busy…

After an evening walk around the reservoir, my dining companion and I wanted to grill Korean BBQ at our table. This meant that we journeyed to Boston’s miniature K-town in Allston. Korean Garden only allows diners to cook certain types of meat at the table. Unfortunately, dweiji bulgogi and bulgogi have to come from the kitchen directly. This was a bit disappointing to us as we had our hearts set on grilling at the table. We gave up grilling due to our specific meat preferences. Dukboki was our selected appetizer. It was a solid meal with fairly generous selections of banchan. Our servers were warm and accommodating.

This year I moved to town from Queens and have really been missing Korean BBQ. His place was really good. Great sides too

Authentic! Great service and great food. Simple as that! We ordered the bibimbap(hot) and the tukbokki(vegetables with rice cakes). The chili sauce on the tukbokki complemented the bibimbap very well. Yum!

Korean BBQ is always my favorite Korean food back in New York. Therefore, I think we have to try it here in Boston of course. We weren’t that hungry so we ordered just pork and beef marinated in wine. Two orders minimum. And also the noodles called chapche. It was great and the meat was not bad. The dining area is pretty spacious. but the sides were okay.

I went there with family who were visiting from Korea. It was late lunch time, and the owner had a cranky face to welcome us and when I asked for better table where it wasn’t all the way in the cornor with bright sunlight and flies. he seemed very annoyed. The service was awful, only one waitress serving and she also looked very angry and tired. We Almost wanted to walk out but we’ve had long day of walk and too exhausted and hungry to do so. It wasn’t a surprise the food sucked. The spicy intestine soup was just blend flavor, udon was ok. Seafood scallion pancake was more like flour pancake… I think I found couple little pieces of seafood… I work in the restaurant industry and it was no surprise the place was empty. Made me feel like it was waste of money. Angry staffs offering blend food.

Came during lunch for 2! Ordered: –Pork Kimchi Bibimbap: I was kinda expecting the veggies to be in it too but I was wrong :(The rice was too hard to chew at the bottom. I’ve had bibimbap in the past but this rice wasn’t as delightful to me. It was really hot when it came out and it still was nice! But I would want to try something else next time. 6⁄10 Friend ordered a bulgogi lunch box: It came with a lot and you really do get a bargain! He was overwhelmed at how much food they offered into the box. Would definitely take advantage of the lunch boxes next time. Service: It was pretty dead when we came in. But we were seated, received our food fast and hot. No real complaints. The banchans weren’t that appetizing though. Bathroom was pretty shabby too.

My friends and I were trying to decide on dinner in Allston and our other options were already full/had long wait times, so we decided to try Korean Garden Restaurant. I liked that the restaurant reminded me of my time in Korea with the loud grilling and banchan(side dishes), etc. For a bunch of college students, we decided that table cooking was too expensive/not a great deal so we each got our own dish. I thoroughly enjoyed my ddeok mandoo jjigae(rice cake and dumpling stew). I would recommend it if you are looking for a soup and something comforting and filling! The food took a while to come out and service was slow. You will leave smelling like a restaurant though!

I’ve been twice and neither time was I blown away. I’d recommend getting the regular dishes over the table cooking. The most recent time I went I was with the BF and we decided to experience the table cooking. First of all, you have to order at least 2 meats to get a grill table, and they range between $ 17 and $ 30, so you already know this is going to be a bit more expensive, which is just fine. We ordered the marinated chicken thighs and the marinated beef short rib. I was pretty disappointed that the $ 23 short rib ended up being a paper-thin sheet of beef about the size of a medium-sized foot.(It’s a weird comparison, but hey, that was the size.) Not very big, especially since it wasn’t thick. Also, I didn’t taste any marinated flavor with the beef. The chicken was both more plentiful and more flavorful, and was only $ 17. They cook the meat for you, which I didn’t know and I was slightly disappointed about. I thought it would be more hands-on like hotpot, but that’s what I get for being a gringo who doesn’t really know too much about Korean food. Speaking of not knowing what was going on, the meats came with like 8 bowls of curious things some of which I recognized to be kimchi, spicy kimchi, and pickles, one looked like those little ice cube blocks in the kids game Don’t Break the Ice, and several that I had no idea what they were. I didn’t particularly like any of them other than the pickles, but I don’t count that against the restaurant since I haven’t eaten enough Korean food to know if they tasted like they were supposed to or not. Either way I wasn’t looking for more. We ordered some pan-fried dumplings as well and they came hot and deliciously crispy. Would recommend. My biggest issue is that the meats we tried were fairly bland, and they gave us bowls of rice that were dry, and the meat was dry, and then there was only one sauce which had a very strong peanutty taste and a fair amount of spice. Maybe I was doing it wrong, maybe you’re supposed to take a little bit from each side dish and mix them all together on your plate with the rice and meat? But even so, none of the sides were particularly moist either, so I was left with a mostly bland, dry rice experience where I would have killed for some kind of curry or sauce to drench everything in. Would not do the table cooking again, but I do remember liking what I got the time I ordered from the regular menu, and that wasn’t dry as the desert, so I’d start there.

Lol the pricing here is not worth it. I mean the food was great, Korean food is always tasty no matter where I go. But the portions… So damn small. I was not full and, I came out disappointed as ever. As for the chicken katsu, extremely dry and bland. That was a no no for me, I had to force it down. Our waitress was very kind to us and helped us cook the meat for our first time. Overall, I wouldn’t come back a second time.

+ plenty of side dishes + can change spicy to taste and it actually won’t burn your whole mouth off + plenty of seating, usually not long wait + give you hot tea automatically — does not check in often with water and side dish refills — food may take a while to come out — no egg for your soup? why! Came here with my friend to grab some lunch and we were pleasantly surprised by how much side dishes were given. We each ordered soup and rice to go with it and typically this has come with a raw egg you can crack into it. We both got the kimichi soup base with pork which turned out to just be a WHOLE lotta kimichi and not alotta pork and no egg! Maybe it’s just with the soup that they’re stingy on the meat because we saw a few people eating the hot grill menu and their meat items looks more full. Bottom line: flavor was good, but portions were definitely not proportional. I liked the side dishes and appreciated that they refilled upon request. I’ll continue to hunt up and down Havard Ave., but I’d give this another go and this time maybe go for the grill!

Decided finally to try this after driving/walking by a million times. I actually came in with not much expectations but ended up leaving with two thumbs up. Plentiful of side dishes with a diverse menu. The grill just caught my eye and I couldn’t resist so I decided to give it a whirl. We ordered the House special Kalbi and the Thick cut prime ribeye. What I really wanted to have a spicy Korean soup for dinner so we ordered the cod fish stew. The flavors of the dishes were well balanced along with the friendly service of communal servicing. The grill plate was awesome, it was nonstick. I am so INLOVE with the plate. No more to bear with the charred bites sticking to the food! hurray! I say, this is the best kalbi in the neighborhood!

Atmosphere: very casual, not too crowded, no wait! Not too loud. We came into the restaurant and requested a BBQ table and were sat next to the window which was great. There’s a lot of space between tables. The tables were clean, but right when you walk into the restaurant you can expect strong Asian cuisine smells and garlic. Food: we ordered two meat dishes for BBQ(minimum of two) — kalbi and chicken. The kalbi was delicious: very well seasoned, tender. Chicken also very tender and well seasoned. Many other korean BBQ places have a light dipping sauce for meats, which this place did not have. However, they had plenty of lettuce for wrapping, gochujang, and a sesame salt paste. The ban chan was plenty and varied and I have no complaints! The amount of meat is a little less than other restaurants Service: with BBQ, the service was fantastic. Just like in traditional korean places, the waitress helps you grill the meat on the table and slice it for you. They kept coming back to check on the ban chan and meat, and were very nice. Other reviews seem to indicate bad service — I can’t speak to nonbbq service but as a reviewer who is quite sensitive about service in restaurants, I thought this was top notch. Price: the meat dishes run from $ 17 – 25, so expect to spend at least 40 without tip.
