R Brown Partners

We have worked with R. Brown Partners for the last 4 years since transitioning from the developer. We live in a mixed use complex with a school and light industry where there are tricky scenarios to navigate while operating on a slim budget. Ellen is extremely by-​law savvy and has been instrumental with the development of the board of directors. Jim, in the most under-​appreciated role of any building, is a pleasure to deal with and prioritizes and keeps the building on track. They are a no-​nonsense company, don’t expect fancy website portals for resident log-​ins but if you just want stability with a long-​serving company call R. Brown.

I’m living in a condominium in JP that has been managed by R Brown Partners for the past couple of years and have to say RBPartners has been the best management company we have had since I purchased my unit in 2000. I am now on the Board of Trustees and their expert knowledge and experience has certainly made it a much easier job for all of us. We have had some significant capital projects and events that would have been much more troublesome without their help.

Stated simply, the management company doesn’t care at all about the upkeep of their buildings and units. We lived here for two years, and will soon be running away, after having continual issues with a leaking roof. Ceiling tiles have fallen, water is leaking into the unit, and the response of our super is — I’ll stop by tomorrow (the tiles fell on a Sunday after a poor repair job by him the prior week – the issue has been ongoing since we moved in). Classy. I wonder if he’d have the same response if it was his unit? Very cheap price given the location and size of the unit – but you do indeed get what you pay for. Save yourself the headache and move a little farther out of Cambridge center or pay a bit more to stay close.
Pros: Cheap price, great location of apartment
Cons: Poor upkeep of building, slow response time to issues
