Awesome hidden place to find cool vinyls and vintage clothes. I found a badass brooks leather jacket for $ 40. It’s a little ripped on the inside, but on the outside its in great shape. I looked on eBay and the same jacket runs for about $ 150. Definitely check this place out. Oh and I believe it is cash only!

Every once in awhile, you find a certain restaurant or store that seems to represent the character of an entire neighborhood. I’ve seen Allston quake and rumble as the rest of Boston transforms into a gilded boomtown for people in tech and healthcare. But somehow, Allston survives, still funky, still fun, still approachable. And Store 54 is the epitome of that spirit. This place has it all. Rare records, consignment clothes that you won’t find on the racks at Buffalo, creative décor that feels like it was made for a film set, and a really cool and friendly owner, Wayne. He’s an expert on the recent history of Allston, with respect to music and art. And Store 54 plays an active role in keeping that legacy alive. There are often concerts, readings, and screenings here. Glimpses into the creative side of a city that is increasingly pricing out its creative residents. Seriously, check this place out. You’ll come away enlivened and maybe even enlightened.

I’ve been in here a few times, specifically looking for vinyl. They have a decent selection of reasonably priced used rock/folk records. Like any record store, you never know if you’ll leave empty handed or not, but I’ve managed to find a few interesting records each time I’ve visited. The owner is nice, and the store is generally pretty quiet. Worth checking out.

This place is the definition of a hidden gem. Could easily be overlooked by a passer-by since the entrance is tucked away in a courtyard but I’m really glad that I stopped in. Store 54 has a diverse and reasonably priced selection of used records. It would be easy to spend hours browsing through everything that they have to offer! I will definitely be returning to expand my record collection.

A little gem in Allston. Anyone looking to kill some time and pick up records, art, or awesome vintage clothes or furniture, should go here!!! It’s a bit hidden but worth the find. The wisteria vines above the entrance and the staircase down to the store are all part of the magical experience. Sometimes they hold music shows and art events. Really nice people. If you believe in supporting local business and not giving in to the corporate blah of daily shops, visit Store 54. You wont be disappointed.

A hip little shop located in an obscure alley of Allston Village. They have loads of old records at great prices as well as a collection of vintage clothing. The clothing is a bit pricey but they are all in excellent condition and a lot of it is something you might actually want. There is also a dressing room if you want to try it out. They guy working the counter was really friendly and made it a very pleasant visit. The downside is that it is a musty basement will lots of vintage records. It has that old stagnant basement smell to it. Prepare for an allergy flare up. There is also a collection of vintage odds and ends. An item that stuck out was a «State of Texas» belt buckle. I have the exact same one found at many shops in Texas. I purchased it for $ 5.99, sold for $ 20 here. Deal? You decide.

Based on the earlier reviews my expectations were high, but based on my visit, it was just ok. Relative to their vintage clothing offering I would say you are much better off going to some of the vintage clothing stores in Cambridge. Relative to their vinyl music, it seems to be ok. A good side-effect of going to this store is the surrounding area. Lot’s of interesting stores and restaurants.

This place just keeps getting better and better. It’s definitely in the top three on my list of favorite vintage stores. The owner is very chill and the atmosphere feels like you’ve happened upon a secret basement littered with badassery — stuff lying around everywhere but clearly and conveniently arranged. The clothing is almost all vintage, in excellent condition and seriously cool cuts and styles. Lots of vintage skirt suits, crazy pants, quirky tops, gloves, hats, belts, scarves… all quality stuff. For quality and style, it’s my favorite place to shop for clothes in Boston, vintage or otherwise. If you’re looking for records, this is the place. If you’re looking for weird, quirky, and classy stuff to stick in your apartment, this guy’s got the stuff. So then there’s the prices. This is not a thrift store, turns out. For the most part, it’s on the somewhat high end of reasonable used/vintage retail — articles of clothing in the $ 30-$ 150 range, from tops to heavy coats respectively.(In fact, the green coat in the photo cost me a little over $ 100, and it’s a for-serious, easily-20-pounds wool Marine officer’s coat, with all the amazing details and absolutely no sign of having ever been worn.) So the clothing is affordable, but much of the other smaller items are a tad overpriced. A vintage wooden picture frame for $ 30, $ 35 for a pair of clearly used shoes(one of the few instances of signs of wear, but still), $ 30+ for cheap vintage alarm clocks that no longer work or even wind. BUT! The good news is that he’s usually willing to make a deal, especially if you’re buying more than one thing. And I bought the $ 35 shoes; it’s hard to find nice, classy-looking shoes that fit so well. This place gets me every time. So do check out this guy’s shop. He’s a cool dude with a clearly top-rate eye for awesome stuff. Just try to walk out of there empty-handed, I dare you. PS: He was kind enough to let me snap some photos while a friend and I were dicking around on a shoot. So, sorry I’m in all of them.

So I’m walking down Harvard for the 2,051st time and this little set back courtyard type thing with random pieces — an old bike, coat on a hanger, creepy doll head art statue thing — calls to me. With trepidation, I veer off the sidewalk and walk back, following a handpainted sign with just an arrow on it or something. There’s stairs and more creepy doll heads. I tiptoe down and slowly open the door, half expecting it to be locked, half expecting to land in Narnia. Instead, I land in complete awesome. In addition to a pile of sweet records and random nifty old things, they have a few racks of vintage clothes and I score an amazing hippy sweater with bell sleeves for $ 20. So exciting. As I’m walking around, I find an etch-a-sketch and say, man if only they had a lite-brite. And you know what? They did. The owner? also mentioned that they have occasional rock shows down there which I can only imagine are just as quirky and great at the store itself. I will definitely be back. Many times.

Store 54 has risen from the ashes to shine again. Looking for vintage Pyrex bowls, a carved American eagle, 45s and vinyl galore or some funky clothing? Store 54 has it all plus handmade cigar box guitars and a revolving display of local artists work lining the walls. Wayne V. is back and brings his merchandising saavy and knack for finding just what you don’t need to buy but must buy nevertheless. Get your groove on and be sure to check it out. I’ll be frank, I’m biased. But as a shopaholic, I can’t wait to go back to see what Wayne finds next.
