Plumas Pines Resort

This was our first time at the Resort. It was our 25^th anniversary and we stayed in one of the cabins. The weather was rain off and on but we had a gas fireplace to warm up to when the weather got bad. Kevin and the staff were very nice and helpful. We practically had the whole place to ourselves… Thanks for a great time… We’ll see you again in June!!!

Plumas Pines Restaurant just hosted my father’s celebration of life and it could not have been better. The owner/​manager, Todd, worked with me to plan the event for 130 people. He was professional, kind, and very easy to work with. We planned for the event to take place outside on the beautiful deck, but the weather was too cold. Todd and his staff were very flexible and moved our party inside. The food and service for the party were excellent! I would definitely recommend this as a venue for a large party.
My family and I stayed in one of the cabins and we had a great time. The cabins are cozy, rustic, and very reasonably priced. We also ate at the restaurant and the food and service were great again.
All around, I was so impressed with Plumas Pines this last weekend. The views are amazing, the staff is professional and accommodating, and the food is yummy!

How do I do this? Well, we went to dinner on the 3^rd of July. The restaurant was not packed but not empty either. We were seated outside at a table for two and it was a nice view. The table was not set completely, parts of the silverware were missing. No big deal, thought they’d notice and fix it. The waitress was oblivious, we flagged a bus person and got that fixed. We sat for about 20 minutes before our cocktails were brought out. No sign of the waitress til then. She took our order and my husband asked for bread. Ten minutes later, she tosses a bowl of bread on the table as she passed by. Another 15 minutes and we haven’t seen her or our salads. They finally come out. The salad looked great and tasted great. Another 20 minutes and we ask for more bread, our salad plates are still on the table, she didn’t take anything away and set another bowl of bread in the empty one on the table. Took another 15 to get our main course, and she still left all of the empties on the table. My husband flagged her down and asked to have the empty plates and glasses removed. She looked surprised and took them away. My husband had steak and said it was tasty but not medium rare that he asked for. I had the Caprese Chicken and it was very good. Our conundrum was that we would have liked to have tipped the chef and kitchen staff because the food was very good, in spite of the steak being over done. However, we did not want to tip the waitress as the service was so bad. Hence, the mediocre review. There were 6 tables, 3 waitresses, should have been easy to have the tables cleared and drinks coming out a little quicker. As for our waitress, she came by to drop off the bill and apologized for it taking so long to serve us. Really? Sorry, no tip for you.

Been going there for over 30yrs. Lots of changes in owners/​menu/​hours, but remains a good restaurant, w/​outstanding view. Friendly staff ;).

The restaurant was recommended by friends who live in nearby Chester. We went to dinner with them.
A great meal. Service was fast and pleasant. My pecan crusted halibut was firm, juicy, and flaky. Two of our party had the prime rib special, cooked medium, and they said they have never had better. The servings were very large. One of us had the blue cheese bison burger with sweet potato fries; she loved it.
We ate on the deck. We were fortunate enough to be there for perfect weather for outside dining.
We will definitely be back the next time we are visiting friends in the area.

One of our favorite spots to stay when we visit Lake Almanor! Keven is the perfect host and goes out of his way to accommodate us. The cabins are cozy, clean and rustic with view of the lake that is a delight to wake up to.
The pricing on the cabins are a deal as they come with a kitchen and BBQ area for outdoor cooking. Last trip up here we had several Deer wander by and check us out… very cool.
Next to the cabins is a country store and across the street is a restaurant that has lake front seating and the food is reasonably price and very good.
Within walking distance is a marina where you can rent boats and jet skies for the day again the prices on the rentals are very affordable.
Several of the cabins are pet friendly and we have even taken our 2 Maine Coon cats up to stay on several occasions. Again Kevin goes above and beyond to make sure were comfortable.
If your looking for a relaxing stay on the lake to unwind this is the spot.

Gorgeous view of the lake and large outdoor dining patio. Casual lake dining. Large popular bar area. Went for Dinner. Reservations for outside recommended. Clam chowder in bread bowl was good. Very nice dinner salad that is loaded cranberries, tomatoes etc. Prime rib was good and came with veggies, mashed potatoes but the potatoes lacked salt and flavor. A better option to offer (& probably easier on crew) would be a baked potato. Chicken breast with bbq sauce was okay but nothing special. A ½ roasted chicken would be better. Would do well to have some items that are spectacular and all homemade. Staff very friendly & welcoming and view spectacular. Location view 5 stars.

To culminate a nice 4^th of July with good friends, the 6 of us made reservations for 7:00 for lakeside dining. We were told upon seating that only one menu was available and more would be brought when available. Eventually we received two more. We started with before dinner drinks which arrived promptly. Our orders were taken quickly. Salads were served, we all enjoyed, dressings were great — the blue cheese had hunks of cheese in it and was very good.
At that point we sat for a minimum of 40 minutes with our used salad plates, and glasses. Our waiter was flagged down for more drink orders. When our meals arrived it was noticed a great deal of broccoli was piled on each plate. Two of us ordered prime rib which was juicy and cooked to perfection. The two New York steaks were tough as shoe leather and lacking flavor. One was sent back and a prime rib was substituted. the other diner requested no substitution, her meal was ruined, she is 7 mos pregnant, was tired and required nourishment due to gestational diabetes (so we shared our meals), they could not have replaced it fast enough for her needs. The halibut was somewhat dry, lacking flavor and not fresh smelling. The scampi appeared to have been a frozen dinner product with added butter and wine, scampi in the smaller thin side also flavorless and not plump and juicy. Both waitstaff apologized but no discount or comp was given. Although we weren’t expecting a five star rating for dinner, this dinner was such a disappointment we will not be returning. The wait staff appeared to be overwhelmed and understaffed.
Also we arrived by boat. The 10 boat slips with narrow sides, were old and unstable. Not a good first impression.
This was the first review I have ever written, and the first thing I had to do upon waking this morning. IT WAS THAT BAD!

Very good, old school sort of place, nothing fancy, but obviously a place foe locals. Pull right up with your boat. Portions are big! Good value and friendly local folks who can give you tips about the lake, etc.

My favorite place in the world! Where can you start the day with a GREAT Bloody Mary and breakfast at the bar as you look over a gorgeous lake? Then you can go ride ATV’s (great trails) or boats (Marina with boat ramp, slips, as well as boat and jet ski rentals on site)… then come back to your cabin (They rent them too!) or your travel trailer and enjoy the views and the company of the fabulous people that come here! As the sun sets, it will be time to head back to the bar at night and dance the night away to fabulous bands!!! Once in a while, they even have ipod nights! So Fun!!! I am a weekend visitor from out of town and completely recommend this place!!! We come back at least twice a month during the summer season. But as a Bay Area native (De La Salle Grad)…I have to say… if you are a Bay Area snob… chill and remember that this place is a relaxing, laid back, rustic lake vacation spot! Seriously the best! Can’t wait for May!

We rented a boat from Majors’ Outpost and were very disappointed! The older gentleman, and I use the term loosely, was rude and sarcastic. The boat we were given to use looked like it could fall apart any minute! The canopy was ripped as were many areas in the seats. We found out afterwards that other rental businesses in the area were the same price but had great customer service along with very well upkept equipment/​boats. If you want trashy service and equipment then rent from here but for classy service/​equipment go somewhere else!

We recently camped at this «resort» for 4 nights. We booked the campsites 6 months ago assuming it was a campground… it is not! It is basically a mobile home park for «seasonal campers» that have clearly been there for many years. We did find out once we arrived that they only have 3 spots for turnover campers. We felt very out of place and were not comfortable camping amongst the «regulars» I would not recommend this resort in the future to anyone. On a side note. Majors Outpost was awesome! We rented boats and jet skis several times and they were great to work with.

Ok it’s a great location… But heaven forbid you show up with a a HANGOVER while your having fun at the lake ETC before 1100AM and ask for a burger and fries because for some reason they find it to hard to cook one until lunch time! Its a complete joke don’t waste your time. Just drink there the staff sucks in the eating area and kitchen. The bar staff is great

The view is lovely, but the food is miserable and overpriced and staff are pleasant but disorganized. Appetizer, ribs, and a rib eye with two iced teas cost us $ 70. If you’re fond of dried-​out, boneless ribs covered in a gloppy sauce (makes a McRib look good) or a ribeye requested medium-​rare that was gray, then this is the place for you.
I guess they know they have a captive audience but I’d eat from a vending machine before I’d go to this place again.

The views are wonderful from this location, but sadly, the restaurant does not live up to its former glory. We have been eating at this restaurant for over 15 years. This year, a new owner took over. The menu has really gone downhill. Talk about basic. Pretty much only steak and pasta primavera. Dinner is really expensive. We paid over $ 80 for dinner for 2 adults and 2 kids with no alcohol. Extremely overpriced. My husband’s dinner was like something from McDonald’s (think McRib). They even had a special called «Airline Roasted Chicken,» really, would someone order something that tasted like food from an airplane? Yuck! We told them ahead of time that we were coming to the restaurant for our son’s 5^th birthday. The waitress and hostess said happy birthday to him, but that was it. No singing, no dish of ice cream. Pathetic.
We will not be going back.

My Garmin GPS and I guess the Google places page had the wrong location for this place, just FYI. We were on a motorcycle trip and all got there after 8 on a Sunday. The staff just left our rooms open with keys inside, no muss no fuss. The restaurant had stopped serving food, but the bartender was super friendly and vowed to stay open as long as he had customers. Had a couple beers for dinner, left me a little hungover for the motorcycle trip home.
The cabins we were in were organized a little strange, but between two cabins and 5 people we all had a door to close when we went to bed which was nice.

Pretty cool place, beautiful views and things to do! (Bike trails, water activities, etc.) Bar is ca$h only FYI. Had a wonderful time and will definitely come back!

Zero point Zero Customer Service left me no choice but to walk out.
I work for a multi million dollar company that is in the Hospitality industry. If the owner of the company I work for was greeted by the Hostess with the bad attitude and sloppy dress, she would of been terminated on the spot. The same goes true with the waitress.
After we were seated, we were ready to order.
Nevermind us waiting, the waitress and hostess were to busy taking down umbrellas on the deck. The first one they took down let the blinding sun directly in my face. I had to move to other side of the table. Time stood still while we watched the hostess and waitress taking down unused umbrellas. This went on and on as I sat there dumbfounded. Oh wait, now the Hostess is rudely speaking another patron that is inquiring about sitting on the deck, and having dinner. He soon disappeared… to where I have no idea.
Between the nasty arrogant attitude, the over priced food, the cob webs with insect carcasses, and the lack of hospitality, this patron was out of there and happily spending 60.00 bucks down the road for dinner!
Out of 150 plus reviews I have written, I can say this was by far the worst service I have experienced.

Stunning panoramic views of Lake Almanor and Dyer Mountain and the finest cuisine in the whole Almanor area.
I had the Grilled Chicken with Chardonnay Cream. It was superb; really tender, juicy chicken and creamy mashed potatoes, with good veggies. We shared some beer-​battered onion rings for the table, had warm good bread and some great dessert.
The folks here are really warm and fun, but they did get a little mixed up at first. We waited a good while for the servers to figure out which one had our table, but after that was sorted out, we had terrific service.
It really is beautiful out on the back deck in the evening as the sun sets behind you and casts the mountain in oranges and purples. And if you’re not in the mood for peaceful, the bar inside gets fairly raucous. Good margaritas and Sierra on tap.
If there’s one great place to take a date around the Lake, this is it.

I have been here twice, once for Dinner and once for lunch, both times, the food was excellent.
Dinner: Caesar (creamy, slight hint of anchovy, little tart, crunchy romaine, perfect), Prime Rib (well-​seasoned, cooked perfectly, al dente veggies, garlic mashed). Lunch, pulled-​pork sammie, tender, not overpowered by the bbq sauce, great seasoned fries. Also tried the calamari appetizer, very good — lightly breaded, sprinkled with Italian seasoning, great chipotle dipping sauce. Had the clam chowder too (kids wanted it, didn’t like it, I finished it.)
Luckily, my sister and her husband have a place on the lake, so, we got in their boat and tied up on the PPR dock. They have an outside deck that looks over the lake — simply beautiful. Great drinks too.
A can’t miss, in my book.
