This was a great find. I stopped in for takeout at lunch because I was craving tacos. I ended up with lunch fajitas. Everything was delicious! I am glad I ordered the lunch size, because it was still a lot of food. Service was good, everything came quick. I will visit again!

Chicken soup is insanely good, worth a trip for it alone. Enchiladas carnitas are a fav of mine as well. Cool portrait of Cantinflas at the bar!

Rock solid order by the numbers Mexican fare. Highly recommend the Burrito Roquette(pulled pork). Staff is easy and attentive and the prices are good. Great neighborhood restaurant.

So disappointed in our experience. I thought with the great ratings that it would be a good place to try with the family. Wrong! The place was dirty with flies flying around us. The waiter never came back to us once he brought the food — we were missing part of a meal. When we finally got his attention(we were done), he didn’t seem concerned about it at all. The guacamole was the worst I have ever eaten. It almost tasted spoiled and was inedible. Waste of time and money going here! Will never go back.

I love Mexican food but I will never come to this establishment EVER again! The service is slow. We were the only ones at the bar and it took 10 minutes just to get menus and they weren’t even busy. The food was nasty and they told me there’s was nothing they could do because I ordered it. Never even offered a solution. Terrible customer service. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone!!!

First! My wife && I LOVE Mexican food, moving to the area so was trying the Mexican since we do Taco Tuesdays. There were about 4 – 6 people inside when we walked in, sat at the bar(only people at the bar btw). ONESERVERWHOMWASTHEBARTENDERASWELL!!! We both got a margarita which was the DARKEST we’ve ever seen, not strong && watered down because they pre-make them instead of making it fresh in front of you! Second, food! The cheese dip was cold when it came out… My quesadilla wasn’t the best. My wife ordered two tacos but didn’t realize they’d be super big && told the guy she didn’t want it but he still charged her(something she’s not gonna eat). MORALOFTHESTORY… NEVERAGAIN

Went for a quick lunch and order the El Portillo dip, get back to my desk and open what I was hoping to be delicious — and found a bug RIGHT on top! Called them and asked for a refund — whoever I spoke too asked to see the bug! Seriously?! I walked back in bug in hand! NEVERAGAIN!

El Potrillo was«our Mexican place» as it was right across the street from our first married apartment. Cute, right?! But really, even though we don’t live by it anymore doesn’t mean we don’t still frequent it. Their chips and salsa are my absolute fave, as is their chicken soup. A cup size is like a bowl size and a bowl size is just plain massive. And it’s cheap. The service has always been fantastic and super fast. You should try out our nostalgic little gem.

A nice little workout deserves to be completely negated with queso, right? After exploring some trails on a beautiful day this week, we decided to treat ourselves here. We’ve been once before and nothing stood out, so we gave it another go. The place was nearly empty when we arrived around 8 p.m. There was a small family and some couples, but that’s it. The atmosphere seemed pretty lackluster with the stereotypical Mexican-themed decorations and music. The standard chips and salsa were on point, or on fleek? The salsa had a nice little kick to it that we enjoyed. It tasted fresh and homemade. Salmon & Shrimp Salad — Grilled salmon and shrimp on top of a bed of spinach with tomatoes, onions and avocado served with mango dressiing. ^^^ — SO good. A whole salmon filet and a large serving of grilled shrimp makes this salad worth the money. And the mango dressing is refreshing! A light dish that made me want to the lick the bowl clean. I’ll definitely be back for this dish alone. Scott’s Burrito — pork stuffed burrito with queso served with rice. ^^^ — He ordered it simply because his name is Scott and it was HIS burrito(just like I order the Renee special at the Cheesecake Factory). The burrito was tiny and looked pretty sad. My husband dutifully ate the burrito though, since it was his. Service was exceptional. All drinks were constantly being refilled and empty plates were removed promptly. Overall, it’s a decent good value Mexican restaurant to visit if you’re in the area.

This place was really nice, with an inviting atmosphere. The food was great, although I was expecting larger portions for the money. If you like Margaritas they have many flavors to choose from. A pitcher will get you about 3 – 4 glasses. All in all a good choice for AUTHENTIC Mexican food.

I love this place, perhaps it is just nostalgia, but I consistently recieve excellent service and food. It is standard mexican restaurant fare, but priced right and tasty. Will continue to return.

This is such a cool place to drop in and grab a nice margarita. My friends and I often meet here for lunch but decided to try it out for dinner and loved the atmosphere. There were many regulars hanging around the bar and families there with their kids. The staff is very engaging and kept our glasses full. The Quesadilla Del Mar is my favorite. The chips and salsa are very good also; fresh and plentyful. I would recommend if you are in the area and looking to try something new.

This has become our family’s favorite place to eat out. It’s not fancy, but the service is excellent, food is consistently good and the prices are just right for a family of four. We eat here monthly, and would be there weekly if only it was closer to our house! We eat out a lot. At some really nice restaurants. But when asked where my husband and son wanted to celebrate their birthday dinner… They both chose here. That is saying something.

We’re done with El Potrillo — but the same can’t be said for the meat that came in the Super California Burrito tonight. What little bit of ‘steak’ that came in this flour tortilla drowned in cheese dip cheese and overstuffed with cheap filler rice, beans and guacamole, was half old-tasting gross gristle and the other half raw and unconsumable. Ping me for a pic of the burrito discected and spread out to see its lopsided and nasty roadkill-worthy contents. It’s really been hit and miss here lately; which is sad to say because we’ve been patronizing El Potrillo(Holcomb Bridge) since it opened nearly a dozen years ago. We remember the green industrial indoor-outdoor carpet that over the years evolved into a shimmering brownish orange when the sunlight hit it just right. We remember the old banquet chairs and when the bar was completely walled off from the restaurant side. We remember when the 1970s cop drama dark green vinyl booth seats didn’t have their foam padding insides halfway hanging out. We even remember when the place got all shot up a few years ago. But we looked past all that because it’s been a family affair and the chicken soup’s brought us back time after time. Not anymore, though. And especially not after today when the three servers and kitchen staff were more intent on feeding themselves and having their own little Labor Day celebration at a back booth than attending to the SIX entire customers trying to have an early dinner there. Take this as warning: if you don’t see the owner(Carlos is it? … bigger guy and very nice) or his wife in the restaurant then WALKOUT. When they’re gone so too is the quality of service and the food.

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. The house margaritas were served with table salt on the rim and they were dark brown and cloudy. It was horrible. The chips were stale. The food came out next, we were already so grossed out we couldn’t touch it, we asked for the check and the waiter took the food without even asking what was wrong with it or offering to box it up… Like he knew how bad it was. Awful.

I have been here several times before and the food quality and food presentation has always been excellent. However, today I went here for dinner with my two brothers and the food presentation has gone down significantly and is now poor. But, the food quality is not excellent anymore. In my opinion, the food quality went from excellent to mediocre at best. The food is still just as flavorful as before. The tortilla chips, salsa, and queso are still as delicious as always. The staff is friendly as well as prompt. However, the place could use some work though. The Pollo Cosumel that I ordered just had extremely soupy(liquidy) cheese covering the chicken and most of the refried beans. My liquid cheese covered chicken was topped with almost caramelized onion slices and then topped off with shrimp and cilantro. The atmosphere is that of your typical Mexican restaurant with cheap tables, cheap booths, and Mexican décor. Th kitchen is visible from was where I and my two brothers were seated. sitting. The bathroom is clean as well. I give this place just two stars. I give this place just two stars out of five. The reason for that is because the food quality is not how it used to be anymore. On top of that the food presentation has also become poor as well. The good quality flavor of the food is still there. The other reason why I give this restaurant two stars out of five stars is because I saw the thumb of the waiter who brought and served me my dish touch my refried beans. I ate only the shrimp, rice, cilantro, and rice of my dish. I did not eat the chicken nor the refried beans at all. This is due to the fact I have found the chicken completely inedible and really tough. As for the refried beans, I think it is clearly obvious as to why it is that I did not eat that. I don’t think that I will be returning to this restaurant at all. I hope that the quality of their food and the presentation of their food will completely change soon or in the near future, but I do highly doubt that.

There’s been a nugget here and there covered in many reviews, so let me try to combine them into something useful here, and with a touch of Scott Opinion The place is unimpressive when you walk in. It’s actually kind of divey. The pictures on the walls are not even straight. Looks like someone tripped and ended up throwing a bunch of garage sale items on the walls and they stuck. Dont get me wrong though, it’s clean. So if you can get past first impressions on the décor, there is a lot, a lot to like about this place. First off, the salsa is excellent, fresh, and they have an amazing guacamole that I recommend trying. The dishes, are classic Mexican fare but they are really done to perfection. I think this place has about the best shrimp ceviche I had(not on the menu but they’ll make it). The service also makes this place a fantastic find, the waiters/waitresses are attentive and friendly. This may be my new go-to Mexican place in the northern burb.
