I got lucky because I retweeted a promotion and got VIP tickets to the lighting of the tree! The VIP event was only a part of the great activities of the event. I will admit that if I didn’t have the tickets I probably would not have joined since I have work tomorrow, alpharetta is sort of far, and I wasn’t excited about cold weather, but I used these tickets as an excuse to spend time with my mom. Avalon has become such an awesome space! I feel like there were more people here today on a random monday night than during the grand opening. It was great to see the crowds today all join in to see the lighting of the tree. It sounds like such a simple thing, but it really brought the community together. I saw on the website there was a smores and hot cocoa station, but we didn’t get to partake in that. Instead my mom and I went to some stores we didn’t get a chance to see last time, and we saw fellow Unilocaler Tammi and Kevin and spent good times with them. There was live music, which sometimes was Christmas-y and other times not. I think it would have been nice if they had Christmas music the whole time, but it is still pre-thanksgiving after all. The weather was nice before the sun went down and then it started getting chilly. There were little avalon trains giving kids rides. At the end, around 7:45 pm, there was an amazing display of fireworks! I think it was worth going to the event, just to see the fireworks. If you’re a mom/dad with kids and live relatively close to Avalon, I would highly recommend going to this event if they have it next year!
