THEBESTMEXICANFOODINALPINE!!! I have lived in Alpine for about 3 years and have tried all the taco shops in our area and I feel no one compares to Tapatios! Their chicken rolled tacos with Mexican style guacamole are amazing. If your looking for a place with a hot sauce that will kick, just fill a cup with their habanero salsa… it bites back! Always fresh and hot, you guys have a lifetime customer here. Thanks for serving Alpine!

I live in Alpine and this is our«go to» Mexican restaurant and have eaten there almost every weekend for 10+ years. The food is good. Staff is friendly. And they are fast. Not sure that it’s a great dine-in experience, but there are some nice tables outside. The bean and cheese burritos are great, the beef taco plate is a favorite, but pretty much anything on the menu is good. For a family of four we typically spend less than $ 25, that’s pretty hard to beat — so remember to tip. Highly recommended.

Favorite taco shop in Alpine! They have the best carne asada fries, which have nacho cheese on them! The food always comes out great. The salsa is good and the lady who works there is always really nice.

Cutest we little taco shop this side of the 8 East… Perfect little pit stop in the mountains coming down from riding in Mount Laguna… I am just too dang tired to whip up a meal this evening… Tapatios on speed dial YO! Ten rolled tacos covered with cheese and Guac and three huge a$$ bean and cheese burritos for 13.99 !!! Out the door with tax 15.12 Come on… All that for that!!! What??? Good food, congenial service in a cottage like taco shop in the mountains of San Diego… Word up G… Just wish they served up some Dos XX cervezas and we would be golden, but the Alpine Brewery Beer Pub is a stones throw away… So I got my beer and tacos covered SON!

Came here for the first time last week. I’ve tried a couple of other taco shops in Alpine and this one is my fav so far! The fish tacos are cheap, delicious and HUGE!!! One is filling. After two, you need a siesta!!! The girls that help are amazing!

Tapatio’s has the best California burritos, Carne Asada burritos and carne asada fries hands down. They also have the best chunky salsa, I would go there just for the salsa. Everyone’s friendly and super awesome. You can’t go wrong at Taps. My alpine taco shop of choice.

Great food and even better salsa, a range of flavor to spicy. The chefs have never disappointed, especially with the Cali burrito. It’s art work how they layer the ingredients to perfection. I miss the the old cashier, the cute short one, she was wonderful. But the new lady has filled her spot in with a nice personality. Also the young guy that cashiers has great manners and is always attentive to your needs. Lived In alpine my whole life, tried every Mexican food restaurant In town and would have to say I get more bang for my buck with this authentic Mexican grill!

I stopped in here for a quick lunch a few months ago and was very impressed with the quality of the food. The Carne Asada Nachos, which were given rave reviews on Unilocal, were calling me from the menu, so I ordered them to get a sense of the restaurant’s approach to making Mexican food. The nachos arrived hot and ready to devour. The were really tasty from the first bite, with a generous portion of well-seasoned carne asada piled on a bed of fresh tortilla chips and dressed up with lots of sour cream, guacamole, beans, and cheddar cheese. Everything went well together, and I was stuffed by the time I got to the bottom of the plate. Mexican food can be complex to prepare, but most of the fare offered by the dozens of taco shops in San Diego County is just fair(pun intended). The trick in making it stand out(not really a secret) seems to be in the quality and freshness of the ingredients, and in the preparation and presentation, of course. Also, generous portions are always a good thing(think — leftovers!). Tapatios definitely has the best Mexican food in Alpine, and I intend to return here whenever I am passing through. Those folks lucky enough to live out here in east County have a real gem — give Tapatios a try!

The fish taco special on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday is the best deal! They are huge and most people will only need one! Also their chunky salsa is the best taco shop salsa I’ve had. I literally ate here a couple times a week and the employees already knew my order when I walked in the door. I recently moved to Denver and this place will be dearly missed. What a gem in Alpine!

I love this hole in the wall Mexican food joint. They got the best salsa ever. I typically order their rolled tacos with guacamole and sour cream on the side. The food is 8 out of 10 times consistent in flavor, texture and presentation. Go check out Tapatio and be the judge for yourself. You will not find any other Mexican shops in Alpine that has the right price and the authentic Mexican food.

Just finished their breakfast burrito with bacon, and it was BOMB! I added refried beans in it seeing as how it normally only comes with eggs, cheese, and your choice of either sausage, bacon, or ham. The tortilla tastes homemade, and the eggs looked normal, not like those weird bright yellow fluffy eggs you get at some places. I’m going back for sure!!!

This little taco shop is great. They have very reasonable prices and it tastes good! There are other places you can choose to go to in Alpine to get some fast mexican food– but Tapatios is the best. The staff is friendly, and the carne asada is great. Also great salsa bar– believe them when they say the habanero one is HOT. Only downside is you usually have to park up or down the street due to limited spaces and it being so close to Alpine brewing.

Out of the dozen or so mexican restaurants in Alpine, Tapatios is probably the best which isnt saying alot because for some reason Alpine has some of the worst mexican food in the county. I think Ive only eaten at Tapatios three times over the last few years that they have been in Alpine due to the fact that their lettuce is always very wet and causes the tacos to fall apart as you eat them and turns my tostada into a soggie mess before I can finish it. After experiencing this every time that I have eaten there tells me that it is obvious that they rinse their lettuce after cutting it and they are failing to take the time to drain it properly which takes a couple of steps. Hopefully they will change this practice as their food is tastie and pretty darn good overall.

I was in the are of Alpine and I was craving some Mexican food via some nachos, and I noticed on the Unilocal App that this place had an average of four stars, so I decided to give a try. I not only ordered nachos, but carne asada nachos with guacamole and re-fried beans smothered with nacho sauce and shredded cheddar cheese( ). The nachos came with a very good amount of tender well seasoned carne asada that was no doubt the star of the show( ). Just like any star, they need a supporting cast, and in this case, the guacamole was creamy and had great flavor. Seasoning was mild, but tasty nevertheless( ). I really like that they doubled up on the cheese with mild cheddar cheese and a creamy nacho sauce. The beans were good and the red hot sauce was great. It was great eating with the house made corn tortilla chips( ). The salsa bar was typical for most place with a trio of red sauce and an always dependable green sauce, not to mention the spicy peppers and carrots( ). Service was provided by a young lady at the counter, who was quite chatty, but in a good way. I sure learned a lot about her. By the way, if you read this, Good Luck with college! Very good nachos and they sure hit the spot!

I love this place! So my regular order is their Carne Asada burrito. It is «solid»! What does that mean really? Solid because I like the consistency of the quality; it has the perfect balance of carne asada and pico de gallo. The«salsa» bar is always stocked with their green, mild, and hot sauces. I like to be different to the degree that I feel like Pablo Picasso with the salsa, me the neophyte artist finding the right mix of green and red. Have you tried California Burrito before? Of course you have! Now I like to order my California with hash browns and not the typical French fries. It is good and the price is just right. The wait staff, ok who are we kidding here. There aren’t any wait staff but the person behind the counter. The person who helped was cheerful and friendly and we had a choice of consuming our meal inside or the«al fresco» option. It was a nice day and we ate our lunch outside. This was a lovely meal to cap a lovely day!
