This lodge is not great. It is horribly overpriced for what it is. I had a room with 2 twins that was the size of a prison cell. I had this room alone and I really cannot imagine sharing it with someone. You would not even be able to move. The beds were inches from each other. One wall of this room shares the wall of the ski boot closet. So every time someone puts their boots away, SLAM! There was also a small hole in the wall in the corner, and you could see into the ski boot room. I was well aware that I would have the shared bathroom. It was so-so. From what I could tell, the bathroom was not cleaned daily. It really should have been. I would have given a 2 star review, but the food is really good.

Thank you to Dave and Eddie and Robin for another great year. Fabulous people and a fabulous place. Excellent food and great atmosphere for all. I go as a single woman looking to mingle and I always leave with friends.

I love this place! The staff works extra hard to make you feel at home and to take care of you. The lodge itself is cosy and warm: absolutely no pretense(that’s true of Alta in general). I stayed in a double with a private bath and was happy with my room and my comfy bed. This is a low-key place: No night life to speak of but lovely dinners in a pretty dining room. There’s an outdoor hot tub and they will arrange a massage(not the best) if you want it. The location is perfect: ski right to the lift. I was worried about coming on a ski trip by myself but it really worked out well. I can’t wait to come back with my husband!

We made a great decision by staying here! We made our reservations after reading the five star reviews on Unilocal; but we didn’t stop by the website to notice that if you stay more than 2 nights in November, skiing at Alta is on the Snowpine! What?! We don’t have to pay for lift tickets this whole week? We were astonished! I love Susan T’s review — now that we’re here, we can see how she captures the simplicity and beauty of this lodge perfectly. It feels more like a bed and breakfast… our room is a little smaller than we expected, but no matter, the bed is large and comfortable and the rest of the lodge provides a rustic yet inviting living room to relax and socialize. The view from the historic rooms is of the breathtaking mountains… what an amazing scene to wake up to! The staff(Robin, Neil, Taylor, Tony and Eddie) has been friendly and professional, happy to assist at any request and quick to anticipate our needs. The food — we made a terrible mistake by not having dinner here last night. Breakfast and dinner are included in the nightly rate. When we arrived around 7:30pm, full from dinner at the Red Iguana, the heavenly aromas from the kitchen and dining room were making us a little jealous as the other guests had their dinner while sipped some wine. After watching a beautifully presented plate of large scallops head to the table next to us – we couldn’t resist; we couldn’t miss out! Four huge, perfectly sautéed sweet scallops, roasted brussels sprouts, over a purée of roasted granny smith apples… truly wonderful. We can’t wait for dinner tonight!

Having stayed at Snowbird’s Cliff Lodge(a big hotel that always seems to have conferences going on) the last three times I came to Little Cottonwood Canyon to ski, I wanted a different experience on this trip so I decided to stay at Alta’s Snowpine Lodge. What a great decision — I love Snowpine and cannot wait to return! It’s exactly what a ski lodge should be. Built in the late 1930s, over the past year, the lodge has been beautifully renovated in a way that preserves its historic character and makes the space very comfortable, cozy and even homey. I would describe the décor as «Pottery Barn Rustic.» The photos on Snowpine’s website are 100 percent accurate. While not posh or luxurious, Snowpine offers all the basic amenities that skiers want and then some: very comfy beds with down comforters, on-site ski and boot storage(and a boot changing room), late afternoon homemade cookies when you come in from the slopes, and complimentary transportation between Alta and Snowbird. My East wing room had a flat-screen TV. The staff is highly attentive and accommodating, providing service that is as good as it gets anywhere. The chef(whose pedigree includes working with/under an East coast celebrity chef) is extremely talented so the food is outstanding. This is an important consideration since breakfast and dinner are included in the nightly rate. Every meal was wonderful and some dinners were even spectacular. Because the lodge is small, guests inevitably mingle with one another in the common areas, which include a dining room that overlooks the Alta ski area, and several, well-appointed, den-like, living rooms. You likely will make new friends and even acquire some new ski buddies! Snowpine seems to have a loyal, early season following. A number of guests during my stay knew each other from previous visits in early December. I might just become a part of that«club» going forward!

awesome food(dinner & breakfast) included in your very reasonable rate. everything from bunk beds to private mtn view rooms with their own baths. for a smaller lodge, it gets the right amount of mixing and privacy on an as-needed basis. would be nice to have a spot to tune your own skis…
