This place is always busy on the weekends so expect a bit of a wait if your coming on the weekend or just call ahead. You must order chicken and waffles if this is your first visit, the chicken is cooked to perfection and the waffles are some of the best around; not too heavy and not too light. They have a special sauce that is composed of syrup and Louisiana hot sauce that really makes this dish taste soo good! They have Metro daily specials if your looking for a deal! If your into French toast this is the place to come! Also they have flavored coffee! This place is just good all around! 4 stars for service, 4 stars for taste, and 4 stars for ambiance!

I’m not quite sure where to start raving about Metro Diner! The food and the service were both so excellent that I’d like to go back for dinner tonight! We’d been wanting to try Metro for awhile now and it’s been on my bookmark list so when we found ourselves on that side of town early in the day we decided to drop by for breakfast. I felt like I was at home. But with so many options for delicious food! We were greeted with a smile and seated immediately. Our waitress Michelle must’ve read my mind because she quickly mentioned the flavored coffee of the day which was Kahlua. Yes and yes! They have a big board with specials of the day and I was immediately intrigued by the lemon soufflé pancakes. Give me ALL the lemon flavored things! I ordered that with a ham steak on the side. So the lemon soufflé pancakes were of course lemon flavored but then also had lemon butter(with pieces of lemon rind!) and raspberry syrup on top. Each bite was heavenly. I never ever imagined I’d finish 3 pancakes but I could not bear to leave anything on that plate! The ham steak was seared nicely, full of flavor, and humongous. The guy who delivered our food was super pleasant. At one point I noticed an old man sitting alone in the middle of the restaurant and our waitress sat down for a minute to chat with him as did another. It warmed my heart! I can’t wait to go back and try more tasty things from the menu served by employees who genuinely love where they work!

This was my families second time to enjoy the chicken in waffles with strawberry butter and a half of chicken. It was amazing both children shared this meal and we were able to bring chicken home for later. I had the pecan raisin bread and it was better than I thought and the last person in our party had the croissant French toast and not much was leftover. The only downfall was the waitress who did not have help and she was backed up m

Wife and I went for lunch. I had the meatloaf and she had the green tomato BLT. Both were disgusting. The meatloaf and sides were cold, not even room temp cold. The waitress was pissed at the cook and took it back. It was returned by the manager after a trip thru the microwave. Hot but the potatoes were still gross and the gravy still had that curdled look. As he put the dish on the table he said, «try this one champ»! I’m by no means a stuffed shirt but show some respect. My wife’s green tomato BLT was just disgusting, no other way to put it! The bacon was not cooked crispy, it was a thick cut which made it much worse, and the fried green tomatoes were just nasty greasy. She ate 2 bites and quit. When the server took the plates away she said, «you didn’t like it»! I first saw this place on DDD and thought it would be great. Must be the fault of management, or the lack thereof! Maybe I should have had the breakfast!

Kind of small but very good food. They gave you a lot of food. And nice people there.

First time going into the diner, immediately welcomed and seated by two cheerful and friendly waitresses. The restaurant is clean, not too pretentious in décor and seating. Plenty of options to choose from weather it be tables or booths. The board with the daily specials is large and makes you excited to choose from the plentiful list of meals, as well as the menu. This was my mother and I’s first time visiting the Metro Diner, and were immediately excited at the outlook of this place. We were seated in a record time, and a second waitress immediately came to get our drink order(seemed to think the other waitress was taking too long… even though it was mere seconds). We ordered our coffee and sweet tea and began looking at the menu. We got really excited at all of the options, and were already talking about the NEXT time we plan to come in. Then the first waitress arrived with our drinks. The tea was good, my mother’s coffee was a bit cold and on the weaker side. The waitress said she’d be right back. And so began our wait. In about fifteen minutes time, we watched the waitresses do basically everything they could in the slowed-down restaurant. Clean tables, organize the counters, talk to the cooks, wait on other tables of whom had arrived after us and even look at our table multiple times while walking past.(From the other side of the diner, had she walked past our table, we would have flagged them down). So we finally up and left. I think it takes a special kind of person to be a waitress, and it seems as though these women had what it takes. But something that they always should keep in mind: treat each of your customers as though it’s their first time or as if they’re a food critic. It’s just disappointing when you not only have high hopes before walking into the place, but continuously have them be set higher before you even get to your table. This review does not mean we will not return… the food still looks incredible, but we were just extremely disappointed.

Great breakfast. Had the Classic Eggs Benedict. Food was fantastic. Most of all our server«Shaq» was fantastic. He was humorous, personable, and on point. Can’t wait to go back. Will definitely request Shaq and want to try the corn-beef hash. The Metro is a must have.

I’m not a big fan of places that ride on the coattails of fame from movies, TV shows, celebrities, ect. That being said, this place is pretty good. We had a long wait for service, but our server was friendly and efficient. The food came quickly. Food was your typical diner fare, a bit on the salty and greasy side. Portions were large, but homestyle and set up in the familiar all American fashion, mashed potatoes with gravy, veggie side and a meat portion, with a bread. The chicken and waffles comes with a tableside presentation of how they make the dipping sauce, a nice added friendly touch. I had ordered the salad in the hopes it would come out first and keep my starving belly at bay, but alas, it came out with my meal. If I had any complaints, that would be my only one. The timing. Other than that, the Diner really is a place to see and a place to be. Can’t wait to go again!

A true mom and pop style diner. Love this place. Service is always fast and friendly. Food is great. The chicken and waffles are amazing, same with the biscuits and gravy. One gripe about the food: Breakfast potatoes could use some more seasoning. Lunch options are great too(mainly the burgers).

Metro Diner’s food and service was really good. Portions were pretty huge and I had to take a to go box. There was plenty of seating inside and out also.

Awesome place. We had the Charleston, Chicken Pot pie and the chicken salad on sourdough. These were more than generous portions and extremely flavorful. Well worth the price. Everyone needs to try this place.

I was sad to see Carmel close, but the Metro Diner is a great replacement. The wait can get crazy long, but with complimentary ice water and coffee, it goes by fast. The waffles are great, chicken and waffles wasn’t fully cooked last time we ordered it, shrimp and grits is awesome and the omelets are hearty. I love that they have a rotating unsweetened flavored tea.

Saw the reviews on Unilocal while on the way home to SC frome Disney and thought we would give it a try. The wait wss l9ng, as it was a Sunday, but i thought that the good must be worthwhile or nobody would wait to eat. So we waited about 40 minutes for our table. Adfitonally, we had no idea metro diner was on DDD until we were seated to our table. Atmosphere: Super casual. Flip flops, shorts, and tees all welcome. Clean place with a some booths, many tables, and 3 outside tables for your dining pleasure. Chalkboard with daily specials highly visible. Moderate noise level. Coffee and water gratis while waiting via get it yourself station. Food: My husband and I both ordered the hamburger steak and eggs. I ordered my eggs OM and he scrambled. They were cooked as ordered and tasted good. Our hamburger steaks were ordered well and were tasty and just right moisture. Best ever! No frozen patties here(the same for the breakfas6burgers my son’s ordered). The home fries were the red potatoes with the perfect amount of salt and pepper. No ketchup needed. Excellent! We truly should have shared a breakfast. It was much more food than we could ever eat. My son’s both ordered the breakfast burger which had bacon, eggs, cheese, and the garden piled high on a brioche bun. They raved about the quality of the meat, taste, and moisture of their burgers. The sides of mashed potatoes with gravy and grits with cheese were enjoyed by my boys. I took pictures of our plates and posted to Unilocal. If only one could smell and taste the photos they would disappear. All sides were fresh made and delicious. Service: Friendly and knowledgeable about tbe specials and menu. Food fresh to order and it’s busy, so there is a wait. Drinks get filled but refills were slow. Our waitress was also having to take take out orders which I think is unacceptable when the 2 hostesses could have done this easily. Let the wait staff wait on customers seated to eat. Overall I recommend this restaurant to other Unilocalers. If your passing by, it’s a 4 minute drive from I-4 and worth the effort. Locals, you have a gem of a casual eating diner.

3 stars for a eh experience… If I could rate 3.5 stars I would. But my experience was just okay. I had heard some great things about this diner. And since it was close to our house I thought why not? We went for dinner. We ordered an appetizer and decided on the blue cheese chips, which looked awesome in the photos on Unilocal. My husband ordered the Metro Pot Roast and I was feeling breakfast, so I ordered the Sausage Egg Cheese Croissant. For the appetizer of chip, they were pretty tasty although some chips were surprisingly soggy and not crisp. My husband it enjoy his meal, it was quite a large portion so be aware. And my breakfast sandwich was also large and tasty but nothing over-the-top. All in all, I felt like it’s just your average greasy diner… nothing special here. I wouldn’t mind coming back for maybe a breakfast/brunch during the breakfast hour to give them another try.

This is the second time we ate at Metro Diner. Our first visit was for breakfast which was fantastic. Although the wait was a bit long it was a Sunday morning so that’s expected. It was a chilly day on the day we went for breakfast and we really liked that the outside waiting area had some overhead heating to keep us warm while we waited for a table. The breakfast was fantastic and the servings were huge. My son had the fried chicken & waffles. The server suggested the syrup with a bit of hot sauce added & it was fantastic. None of us could finish our meals and we took leftovers home with us. This time we visited for dinner on a Wednesday evening. We were greeted at the door by several different employees as we walked in and seated at a table quickly. We had a hard time choosing because there’s a lot of choices on the menu. They serve breakfast and lunch all day, so you don’t have to choose from dinner items only. My son decided on the vortex burger. This is a huge burger and he actually had to take it apart to eat it. The top and bottom crust are grilled cheese sandwiches and you have an option of adding a fried egg to the burger. He really enjoyed the grilled cheese sandwiches and ate one of those first. He took the bottom sandwich apart & put his burger between it. I took a taste of his burger it was delicious. It was cooked to medium as requested and the meat was juicy and flavorful. I decided on the Pittsburgh steak salad. This is basically a garden salad that has a ribeye steak on top, cooked to order, with blue cheese crumbles and french fries on top. I opted for the french fries to be served on the side. The salad was huge and the steak was perfectly cooked. The only thing I didn’t like about it is ribeye steak can be a bit fatty and the fat was left on the meat. Since the steak is sliced up into thin strips it’s really hard to remove the fat. The service has been great both times we visited. The servers are knowledgable about the menu items and give great suggestions. They offer many unique & delicious sounding menu items so be prepared to have a hard time making a decision. And if you’re watching your weight expect to be challenged. Although there are options you can choose that are calorie conscious it’s hard to be good with all the delicious smells coming out of the kitchen. We will definitely be visiting Metro Diner again to try some of their many unique dishes.

There aren’t too many diners in the area so I’m glad we have a new one in the area. Be forewarned, everyone else is excited that there’s a new diner in the area too. The times I have gone, it has been PACKED. Luckily, I’ve never had to wait long. Per other reviews, they most certainly give you a LOT of food… a LOT. So come hungry! If you like shrimp and grits I highly suggest you tries theirs. It’s very different from any other shrimp and grits I’ve ever had but I really enjoyed it. The pot roast is pretty amazing as well and one of my favorite dishes to order. Their mashed potatoes are wonderful. Service is great. They’re fast, friendly and attentive. I highly recommend trying them if you’re into the diner scene.

WARNING: Do not go here if you are on a diet, if you’re trying to eat healthily, or if you care about how many calories or grams of fat are in your meal. SUGGESTION: Make sure to wear comfy pants because their servings are huge and the food is so good you’ll want to clear your plate! Also, just make sure you’re able to schedule time for a nap afterwards. You’ll need it! Ha! I was so excited to find out that Metro Diner was coming to Orlando, as I’ve been to their Jacksonville location a few times. For those of you who don’t know, their Jax store was on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives with Guy Fieri a few years ago and the lines have been out the door ever since. Maybe they were before, too, but I didn’t know about the place until that show so I can’t say. (You’re welcome for your useless trivia for the day!) Anyhow, I was excited they were opening in Altamonte Springs and have been looking for an excuse to go since they opened. Donned in my stretchy pants, I met a girlfriend for breakfast. We decided to meet at 10, but since I knew there was going to be a long wait and I needed to be out of there by 11:30, I got there at 9:30 to put our names down. Glad I did, because it was a 30 minute wait and we were sat just a few minutes after my friend arrived. The specials of the day sounded delicious, but so did all of the menu items. We decided to get 3 things to try and split between the two of us. We got the two specials(steak omelette with lump crab, asparagus and hollandaise as well as the Yo Hala stuffed french toast with apples, cinnamon, and cream cheese) and the breakfast pizza. Our server said that for the french toast we could get a ½ order, so we opted for that. So, 2.5 meals for 2 people instead of 3 meals for 2 people, it made us feel a little less gluttonous. Just a little. The food all came out and looked delightful! The french toast was absolutely sinful! Sweet from the apples, creamy from the cheese, the bread was perfect — it was like eating dessert for breakfast. Absolutely delicious and my favorite of the meal. The breakfast pizza was a close second, though. Biscuit crust topped with bacon, ham, Italian sausage, cheddar and mozzarella cheese, two eggs any style, hollandaise sauce, onions and peppers, fried jalapeños and green onions(description taken from their web site). We got our eggs over medium so they would still be yolky and it was perfect! The omelette was okay. The steak was cooked well and the dish as a whole was pretty good, but compared to the other two things we ordered, it was just ho-hum. I wouldn’t order it again. Our server was nice. She was busy as heck and we had to flag her down for coffee refills, but it wasn’t a big deal. I will definitely be back and strongly recommend you check this place out too!

So happy this diner came to Longwood! This place is legit and I am definitely a huge fan of this place and even if I haven’t tried everything on the menu, it just means I’ll be making more trips to come visit :) The food comes out pretty fast, service is great, and you most definitely get your money’s worth here. Food is beyond good! So far I’ve tried the fried chicken and waffles, the chicken is fried to perfection and paired with their syrup + texas pete hot sauce. OoOOoO wee! Match made in heaven good! Trust me, it’s THAT good. Ordered the chicken pot pie, crust is flaky, the filling is so good and although it may seem like a simple recipe, they nailed it for sure. I’ve also had their chicken and biscuit, another goodie! There also is the Yo Hala French Toast. oh my gosh. just order it. You’re welcome! I love this place, prices are great, and love knowing that this spot is so close!

Bathe me in the maple syrup hot sauce! Lay me down on a bed of benedict! Beat me with crispy chicken thighs… this is breakfast foodporn at it’s best. But seriously, Metro Diner is my new favorite breakfast spot in Altamonte Springs. I’ve gone both weekend mornings and weekday lunch, and this place is hopping! Expect a little bit of a wait, but it is worth it. But feel free to help yourself with water or coffee while you do at the patio. I didn’t know that the original spot was in Jacksonville and was also featured on Diners Drives and Dives. So happy they are in my neighborhood now and I can eat breakfast for dinner, breakfast for lunch, or breakfast for breakfast! Recommendations: Chicken and waffles — a must try! Chicken is fried perfect crisp and seasoned well, paired with a tasty waffle… but make sure to cover all that with their maple syrup hot sauce Juevos Rancheros — hangover cure, basically breakfast nachos with eggs, over fried tortilla shells Yo Halla on the Square– challah bread french toast stuffed with bananas, cream cheese, and deliciousness poured with a house made blueberry/strawberry compote… drool Anything with their corned beef– They make house made corned beef! Not from a can… so their corn beef hash and sandwiches taste amazing! Whatever is on their blackboard special — They run specials like fried green tomato benedicts, specialty burgers, soup of the day and other creative off-menu items. Seriously… the only things they are missing are mimosas and bloody marys… but for an amazing breakfast place that the whole family can enjoy… Metro Diner even with all the foodporn ;)
