I took the whole crew out there and boy did we have a blast! I really love the fact that the pools are just warm cozy and convenient! I like the idea of separating the differences in the pools! And the pool bar is the perfect place for me that’s where you always catch me! I got introduced to the jello shots boy was that an experience! The kids had their fun I had my fun and so did most of my family! Definitely an experience you will never forget you have to go!!!

Very friendly staff, and conveniently located to the amusement park. They recently just remodeled lobby it looks like the Museum of modern Art. The rooms are rather plain and generic, but I also had a nice little private. The free Wi-Fi was actually usable. Guests also are treated to a private trolley to the front gate of the amusement park, which prevents having to pay $ 15 for parking. The amusement park itself is very charming, beautifully landscaped, with hundreds of trees, lagoon, and bridges over a winding river. The two wooden roller coasters, Outlaw, and Tornado, were fun and family-friendly. I was not able to ride to steal looping coaster, the Dragon, because it was out of order.

Seriously disappointing. .. I was willing to pay more than we typically would since they have an indoor«Waterpark»(i use that term loosely). My 5, 7, and 9 year olds had a good time but you could go to Wasserban for less and have more of a waterpark experience. The room was ok but nothing spectacular — again other hotels will give you more room and beds for less $. With 4 kids we generally stay at a place like comfort Inn and suites which has a great hot breakfast buffet included with your room. With gratuity our b-fast was about $ 50(for 5 of us and our 3 little kids don’t eat much at all). Dinner was about the same cost in their restaurant. The food was mediocre and the service was incredibly slow. We opted to eat there so the kids could quickly get back to the pool — bad idea, it took an hour and a half for dinner. My husband inquired about a microwave around lunch time the 2nd day(he’d picked up awesome great homemade tamales) — 1 staff member offered to heat them up(no micro in our rm) when he came back both the other front desk staff and the manager were very rude about heating them up. We stayed 2 nights. Housekeeping never bothered to come to our room — i had to seek out clean towels and a new roll of tp. .. We won’t be going back. ..

I am going to go ahead and give you 4 stars. Its a GREAT place to stay, theres a shuttle that takes you right to the amusement park, indoor pool. Now my favorite part about Adventureland Inn is the pool… The pool is GREAT for kids and adults. There is a little bar here that you can sit at while you get your feet wet and keep your eyes on the kid/kids«depending on how much you’ve drank»… The location is GREAT. Its right next to ALOT of restaurants and also next to the casino«for those of you who enjoy gambling. I highly recommend coming here if your visiting the area with your family.

I think I would have given this place a 1 star rating if it wasn’t for the fact that we really didn’t have any problems with our room, the pool and that our kids had a good time. Upon check-in and heading the back«Convention» entrance I was feel like we were in a «Vacation» movie and was wondering if the beds were going to have slot for quarters. The outside of the hotel is a literal dump(see my photos). I did not feel safe when outside the hotel. Maybe it was all the homeless-like, what seemed to be drug attics, I mean employees that made the secondary entrance, the Convention entrance, so dodgy. Or maybe it was all the trash or feeling that you needed a tetanus shot just by entering the little shelter over the walkway as you enter the hotel. Needless to say I would not send my wife or kids out to the car. The rooms are OK. Beds are OK. The rooms smell of chlorine. The bathrooms are OK as well. If they don’t do something soon to revitalize this place I can see it turning into a pay-by-the-hour time of hotel. If that doesn’t give them enough incentive to start the renovations, especially when they’re right next door and catering to those that are attending the family amusement park then I don’t know what is. It’s time to reinvest in your property Adventureland.

Only been there for convention/ballroom space. It is OK. It is near the casino and the theme park for entertainment. Because of it’s locality next to the theme park, there are normally a lot of families staying here.

I have never been to the Adventureland Inn before, and I can same with certainty, that we will never be returning. We were part of a birthday party event, overnight. While the kids had a great time at the pools, the rooms were quite outdated, with mattresses that were hard as a rock. the room was supposed to sleep 10 — with a pullout for the kids. it didn’t have that. then — in the morning, as we were getting ready, and packing up to go — there were ANTS all over the bed we were in. not just on the top of the spread, but in the blanket as well. we called the front desk and they sent up someone from housekeeping — who was just going to make sure it was all washed. we were checking out — so that made zero difference to us. we were told that she was very sorry — but she couldn’t find the beginning of any trail of ants. NOONE would have been able to find a beginning trail of ants — as the carpets are very dark, the room is very dark. IF she had been able to find the beginning, she would have taken her magic spray bottle of liquid to make sure things were fixed. ewwww. her answer to us was to talk to Joe — at the front desk. a family member when to the front desk to check out — discuss the difference between what we were supposed to have for a room and what we ended up with, AND the lovely ANTS. his response was that we should have called for roll up beds. that was uttered by the housekeeping rep as well. we didn’t know that we COULD call for roll up beds. AND — Joe said that they have the hotel sprayed WEEKLY for bugs, and therefore, WE must have brought the ants with us, into the room! SO — let me get this straight — you, Joe, ADMIT that there is enough of a bug problem in that ‘hotel’ to have it sprayed WEEKLY, but the ants must have come from us? I understand that Joe’s main job is to make sure that no matter how unhappy the customers ARE, he is just supposed to make sure that the bill is paid — regardless of the consequences. Thank goodness for Unilocal — so unhappy customers have a venue to warn OTHER potential ‘guests’ about this facility! I can only recommend that people go to the NEW hotel — at Prairie Meadows — it is LOVELY, new, with very friendly staff — for a very reasonable price, compared to this step back into the 1980’s.

tagging along on hubby’s business trip with my 3 Littles. Ages 9,6,2. Stumbled upon this hotel on my research of what to do with my 3 kids in Des Moines for a week. As there are very little to entertainment, I booked this with out a second thought. Really. 3 pools with slides(a toddler pool, 3 ft. pool and a bigger pool with larger slides), a swim up bar and pool side rooms, sounds like a dream. The kids loved this place at first sight. Although, it took a while for hubby and I to be sold on it. OK. So, the resort, at best this would be a 3 star motel. The building, room and décor are old and dated. We can definitely smell the chlorine as soon as we enter the room. Clean rooms though. We booked the upstairs family suite. Our balcony over looks the pool. Living room with pull out couch and 2 queen bedroom. there is a microwave and 2 mini fridges. The service, Can’t complaint about the service. The bartenders’ knowledgeable and pours a strong drink. Room service is prompt and pleasant, food is reasonable. All in all, As any parent would, we would gladly give up our 5 star comforts for the smiles on our kids faces anytime. Will stay again if we are back in Des Moines with our 3 kids.
