Of all the bars in my hometown, this is the one I consider «my bar». When my friends or family gather back to Altoona from our new homes, spanning various countries now, you can guarantee that we end up at Mike’s Court. It’s not just the food (which is excellent. Try the buffalo chicken sub), or the reasonable prices, but the people. The staff here goes out of their way to treat you like family. The owner, Mike himself, can always be found making rounds to the different tables. This is the best bar in Altoona.

Good bar food, reasonably priced, service isn’t that great tho getting a refill on beer and paying to get out is difficult at times but I would recommend trying it for yourself!

Never been to the bar, but I played in a charity golf tournament today and they gave away their roast beef… WOW it was awesome… I will visit this place just for the roast beef sandwich… very unique

No No No Don’t go. We stopped at 2:00 pm sign says open at 12:30. Guy comes out and says we don’t open till 2:30. Its in a crappy end of town also.

Best Roast Beef I ever ate. A virtual assault on my pallet in all the right was. Super warm friendly welcome. Perfect hometown atmosphere.

Hard to get to seats. The only ones left were very old bar stools which were extremely uncomfortable. The salads were very good with a superb salad dressing. Burgers??? So highly rated are frozen burgers. Not real impressed. Staff was nice and helpful. Mike changed the tv for us. Onion rings, tho some of the mass produced were cooked just right with large slices of onions inside. Don’t think I’ll go back again.

It was our first time here, and the staff made us feel like we were regulars in all the good ways. The staff works like a well regulated team and were all friendly and attentive.
we got the roast beef special and the sandwiches were so good. A bit of heat and a little sweet, which was a good balance.
You should come here just to meet the staff. I told someone picking up glasses that everything was top notch, and it turned out to be the owner. We signed a basketball, and shook his hand.
The only problem is that they don’t sell liquor, only beer and cider. It probably keeps the riff raff out though.
Also– Nonsmoking! Yayyyyyy!

One of the best places in Altoona. The Bacon Swiss Burger is the best burger in Altoona. It does take a while for your food, but that’s because It is all homemade. Mike, the owner, is really nice and is usually out talking to the customers.

I don’t really know what to say about this place because it’s AWESOME! When I’m in town I always make sure I drag my family to eat here at least a few times. My personal fave are the Italian nachos and pepperoni salad. Yummmmmmy. Everyone raves about the roast beef, I personally hate it (well I do dislike roast beef) but everyone else goes bananas over it. Everything I’ve had there is extremely satisfying, and believe me I’ve pretty much have had everything. Everyone that works there is super awesome as well. Once you get there tell them Lisa D. says hi. It will make me feel like I’m there when I’m really 1100 miles aways!

I get take out at this place when I come to visit my friends in town. I do think all their sandwiches are great for a small neighborhood bar, especially the roast beef but don’t order their fries or nachos to go. The bake everything at this place so this is the reason why the fries and Italian nachos are soggy.

Definitely as good as it gets as far as neighborhood bars go. Mike’s is one of the only places in town that I truly miss. I always make it a point to drop in at least once when I’m home visiting family. I long for the incredibly messy but strangely delicious Italian nachos. The food is good and the beer is always ice cold; however the best part is the people.
Yeah, they’re often busy and you may have to wait a while for your food, but who cares? If you’re in a hurry so somewhere else. Mikes is a place to unwind and relax among friends.
I rate places for what they are and not what they try to be. Mikes is an incredible neighborhood BAR, therefore the 5* rating.
