I love NY style pizza, the kind that requires extra napkins to eat. This place has that perfectly. The crust has just the right crunch and chew with enough toppings to enjoy but not so much to over power. If you like a NY pizza order this one.

Wonderful pizza. Great crust, sauce had very fresh sweet rich flavor. Mostly for carry out, but they do have two tables. Friendly staff, very casual atmosphere.

I want to start by saying that the gentleman who runs Angelo’s is a real nice guy. That’s why I am going to start this by saying I’m sorry to him, but I must be honest. My husband and I travel on 917 between Mansfield and 35W regularly. We’ve always seen the signs for Angelo’s and thought we’d give it a try the other day. When we got there, a sign on the door said«back in 10 minutes. Not a problem. I called and he said he was«it» that day and was out making a delivery. When he returned he called my phone to let me know he was back. Nice touch! While we were waiting, I read the other two reviews, both of which give it a 4 star rating. I had to agree with the one about the place being a dive. From the outside looking in, we said«yep, it’s a dive». I don’t mind a place that needs a face lift. Many times the best food comes out of dives. My problem started when, after we had ordered and decided we’d ‘eat in’, I had to use the bathroom. I can only tell you that if I could have held it, I would have. Not to get overly graphic here, but the toilet was beyond gross(I’m talking REALLYGROSS) and the entire bathroom looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in… well…forever. There was even a used toothbrush sitting on the sink! Seriously? I went out to sit with my husband and started looking around. The entire place was so filthy. I couldn’t get the bathroom image out of my mind and asked my husband to have the pizza boxed up and we’d just take it home. I just couldn’t stand the thought of eating there.(oh, there was also a dead bug stuck to the table). So…off we go with our Supreme pizza. It smelled delicious and we were greatly anticipating digging in. When we got home, it was still piping hot and we were ready! I will say that the flavor of the toppings were good, even though the mushrooms were definitely from a can… disappointing to say the least. The crust was very tough, not the light, fluffy crust I’m used to enjoying. Oh well… we’ll cross Angelo’s off our list of places to visit. I just can’t imagine eating from there again after the filth we encountered inside. It just makes you wonder if the«rules of cleanliness» in a restaurant are so ignored, what are the personal habits? Like I said in the beginning… the guy is nice, but I have to be honest in my reviews.

Living in the rural area usually means the dreaded no delivery of my favorite meal… pizza. But much to my surprise, only 6 months into my, currently, 5 years of residency here in rural-land — I found Angelo’s though a large billboard ad that was on my way home down FM917. So, I decided to Google them and call them up. It was a shot in the dark for me on if they would deliver and sure enough, I was within their delivery radius. WOOHOO!!! Naturally, I was excited and asked for a list of their specials. The, very patient, man read the menu out to me over the phone, and everything sounded amazing. They have specialty pizzas in huge sizes, and offer salads. sub sandwiches, and pasta dishes, along with 2 liters of soda, and desserts. I’ve ordered from here many times now, to the point that the drivers know exactly how to find me — even though I live on a lot in an RV community, which can be hard to find. Once, they even delivered in torrential rain, which was pretty bad considering my neighbors belongings were flying in the air across lawns and down roads. LOL! I gave an extra tip to the delivery guy, as I felt bad for him and he was drenched to the bone. He kept my food dry and hot though! My favorite to order is the Sicilian Pie. Oh my gosh… honestly — it’s the best pizza I’ve tasted. I hear a lot of people say it’s as close to NY style you can get, and while I wouldn’t know because I’ve never been to NY, I would have to say that it certainly helps encourage me to want to visit NY! Down side: The desserts are just OK though. Definitely something pre-made and frozen/thawed — sold in uniform pre-sliced pieces. The pasta dishes are also frozen and run through the oven for cooking. I can taste it in the cheese that is used as for ricotta filling in the manicotti and the shells and cheese. If you ask for alfredo on the dishes, it’s $ 3.00 extra because all of the dishes are bought frozen, obviously, and pre-made with the marinara sauce that is served over it. The lasagna dish is mediocre as well, and also frozen/thawed. So I can’t praise or even suggest the pasta dishes at all. The pizzas are really where the gold is at and what I’d stick to, if you’re looking for a good pizza at a decent price. I also wouldn’t suggest dining in at the pizzaeria itself, as it’s aged looking, a bit run down, and not the most comfortable atmosphere to dine it. It kind of reminded me of a truck stop diner in a way. They have a TV in there that is set to some kind of Satellite Music channel, playing music in the background. The décor is lacking, and the servers are quiet and distant aside from taking your order. In a way, that part is nice, unless you need a refill or something. Oh and the dining area is particularly small. May accommodate seating for up to four families at once, last I was there. Take out or delivery is definitely the way to go though! Don’t forget to ask about their deals too. They have some really awesome deals.

Since arriving in Central Texas seven years ago, I have been on a crusade from DFW to Austin to find decent New York style pizza. Out of the handful of restaurants worthy of a 50 to 100 mile drive for a slice, none of them make anything reasonably close to a New York Sicilian pizza, so when I read about another X-NY-er finding Nirvana in a Sicilian Pie at Angelo’s, I had to follow up. ABSOLUTEHEAVEN. It is the real deal. Big, thick, and firm, but as soft as your mama’s bosom, with a crispy bottom and outside crust. Ample cheese on top to capture those little pockets of steam and a sauce that doesn’t overpower the flavor of the dough. No lie people, you will not be disappointed. Only four stars? Well, the place can only be described as a dive in need of a major face lift. His product however is worthy of five stars. You might want to call ahead to order because Sicilian pizza takes nearly an hour from start to finish. I haven’t tried his round(Napolitano) pies yet, but the ones I saw go by looked absolutely delicious.
