Bayou Wildlife Park

We had my daughters 11^th birthday here and it was enjoyed by all of our guests! They provide a table so the rest is left to you but between the tram ride and the petting zoo there isn’t much you have to do. They gave me the number for Dominos pizza who arrived on time and we had hot pizza on a cold day. The entire party fit on to one tram and I sat in the back of the jeep and got some really good photos of everyone interacting with the animals. The driver was informative and slowed down to let the animals catch up. A lot of my guests said they will be returning with their family because this place is so unique and family owned. It beats the pants off a regular zoo trip! Highly recommended!

So I honestly wasn’t expecting much seeing as the only reviews I saw were with kids but we went there and it exceeded my expectations. I went with a friend for his birthday and as soon as we pulled in the llamas were blocking our way. It was scary at first but so fun. Take the 45 min tour in the tram it’s worth it. You see so many cool animals and the guide is amazing at his job. The animals come right to the tram and eat the feed. Afterwards you can pet the animals or watch the deer and crocodile. Will definitely be going back. Super limited parking and not really a good place to eat food or picnic. Maybe snacks.

I thought this place was AWESOME! how many places do you get to feed a zebra, camel, ostrich, and bull for $ 20! Don’t expect too much in the way of an all day type of place, more like 2 or 3 hours. I know a lot of people commented about the situation of the animals. They aren’t poorly treated, I think it is more the fact that they are left to themselves to hang out and play. They defiantly aren’t groomed and don’t live in pens that are cleaned out regularly. Anyway, I loved it and can’t wait to take my kids back when they get a little older!

The zoo is located in the city. This is good and convenient. The size of the zoo is relatively large, but it is not small. Everything is very well maintained and tidy. No dirt, garbage bins everywhere.

A furniture salesman told me about this place. I been dreading to come here because I’m so afraid of animals. Once I arrived with my fiancé and his daughter we had a few animals (Ostriches and Deers) to greet us at the entrance. We sat around for less than 10mins waiting for the tram. While we waited my step daughter went to the petting zoo. She enjoyed herself. The tram ride was fun, the facts were interesting, and the staff was nice. I must say this was a fun challenging event. The animals comes up to the tram for food and attention. I’m afraid of ALL type of animals but I survived this trip. (Of course I sat in the middle lol). This is a must try spot.

I remember when I was a kid my mother bringing us to this place. I had fond memories and would often referred people here through out the years despite haven’t had gone back… I’ve been back and this place and i’m not sure how likely i would recommend it again.
The park is in Alvin, well hidden from town. The place is definitely showing its years. Upon arrival we were met with signs of cash only and some general rules. We payed $ 40 for me and my wife and $ 5 for some food to feed the animals. That buys you general admission and one tram ride. Once in immediately we’re met with animals! We were so excited! Until we saw how sad the animals looked… The large birds were missing a moderate amount of feathers and some of the other animals looked a little mangy. Once at the parking lot we get out and walk around. There was feces everywhere and the place looked unkept. We walked in to the big barn drawn in by a beautiful giraffe, there was the gift shop and petting zoo. Again the feces and fly’s were abundant. I noticed a sign with prices for the animals? We avoided the petting zoo and checked out the giraffe. There was skulls and cobwebs all along the walls lol, wasn’t sure what to think about that.
We wondered around for a little while and finally a lady from staff appeared and kindly directed us to the tram which looked original to the 30yr old park (matter of fact everything here looks old lol) The staff seemed nice but again the place looked poorly maintained throughout. On our ride we saw tons of beautiful animals, all excited to be fed. Alot of the birds had some thing wrong with their feathers if they even had any. The some animals had matted fur and along our ride we had some sketchy areas where the tram would speed up quite a bit to make it up bumpy hills. In general the staff looks like they mean well but the place seems in disrepair. The animals look sad and neglected and I can’t get over that the sign next to the skulls with prices for the animals, what was that? Lol…

We ended up here after trying to go to another wildlife escape close by that was closed. It cost $ 20/​adult and $ 10/​kid — kind of pricey. We took the tram around the compound and it was cute, but not quite $ 50 worth of cute. The guides were informative, but it also seemed that she were really reading off a card — nothing much special. I do like the fact that you can get up close to the animals, but I can only feed so many. It is great for kids, because they can ride horses and experience nature. Adults were definitely be over it within 30 minutes — but they are going because of the kids, so…

My daughter and I went with a group (15+) for the group discount. It was $ 7.50 per person over 2 years old. Normally it would be $ 20 per adult and $ 10 per child over 2 years old.
We had a blast and they were pretty organized. Since two schools were doing trams first, they recommended our group do the pony rides first. My daughter has never ridden a pony before, but she had so much fun after meeting the pony.
From there, there was a deer named Buster that thoroughly enjoyed eating feed from hands and being pet by everyone.
Not much later, we boarded the tram. There were 3 dips and so it felt like a roller coaster. There were plenty of friendly animals that we fed from the tram, including a camel that actually ate from my toddler’s hand instead of feed bowl.
After all of this, we went to the petting zoo of goats and pigs. They were calm and friendly, but primarily concerned with who would feed them.
We will definitely come again, discounted or not. Only regret was that souvenir shop was closed.

My 20-​month-​old had a blast here on this overcast spring day! Because we had a group of 15+, we only paid $ 7.50 as opposed to the usual $ 20/​adult. A few tips for your trip with a baby/​toddler:
— bring a carrier if you need but you can leave the stroller at home
— the Bayou people must be as nonchalant about baby poo as they are about animals’ because I couldn’t find a changing station anywhere, but the cars are parked conveniently close enough to clean baby up in there
— someone else mentioned this but maybe seconding it will help: could exceptions be made to the 1tram ride per person limit if trams are leaving with hardly any people?
— kudos to the people who are cool with the picnic benches but smell and taste are too closely tied for me. Might I suggest a more sanitary, perhaps enclosed, eating area that’s away from the sights and smells of the animals?
— this experience was enhanced by a lot of books, songs, and short YouTube videos about these animals before she actually saw them.
Overall, we loved it!

Wow! This place was excellent! We took our 4 ½ yr old and 18 month old– they both loved it! You buy a bucket of food on the way in and can feed pretty much everything! All the animals come right up to the tram– led by an excellent tour guide and lasts about 45 minutes. My kids loved it! All the animals are super friendly and eat right out of your hand or the bowl. We brought our lunch and ate under their covered eating area with picnic tables. They have a petting zoo– lots of really cute baby goats when we visited. Also have a pony ride area– both included with your entrance fee. We will definitely be back! Took us about 2 ½ hours to go through the whole park– perfect for my young kids. We arrived around 11:30 on a Friday. Some school groups were there but they all left by noon. Not very crowded after the school groups left. Highly recommend to all.

Went with a group so the entry fee was $ 7 down from $ 20. Wouldnt have wanted to pay full price but had a great time seeing the animals in a beautiful setting. The tram ride was fun with animals eating out of your buckets. Very disappointed to learn that youre only allowed one tram ride with no option to buy another ticket so theres no way to see most of the larger animals again. Why couldnt we ride again when several trams only had three people? Whats the reasoning there? Grandson enjoyed the pony ride but it was over before it really got started. There were no lines anywhere so it seems they could walk the kids around a little more. The animals were friendly and were well fed as every person gets a tupperware of feed pellets. I was concerned that most of the animals were in small pens that were completely full of mud from recent rain. Is that healthy for them? The farm is so large i wish that some of the animals were able to be in larger pens. Really enjoyed the wallaby baby in mama’s pouch and the baby goat. Take a picnic but be prepared for animals begging to share your lunch! Will return with the group for sure.

So much fun!!! Emus, ostriches, deer, giraffes, goats, pigs, alligators, donkeys, camels… Oh my! Went on the tram ride and had a blast. Got to feed the animals out of a bowl. Saw a wallaby and a baby in her pouch. Held a baby goat!!! Had a great time! Lost a star because of some concerns– I wish the macaws had something other than an old shed– not appropriate for these birds, and I worry about them in the heat. I also wish some of the animals weren’t just in the mud because it seems unhealthy– there’s so much extra room, why stick them in the mud? For the price you’d think you could continue to ride the tram as much as you want but we were turned down. A bummer because so much of the park is never seen again. Plus lots of trams aren’t full. We were told we needed to get on a train that barely had any room– «we need to fill this one” — but later we saw groups of three riding on the trams alone. Well I would’ve liked to have used my single tram ride on a less crowded one to get more animal attention and better pictures but I had no idea that the entrance fee included only one! But for the most part I loved it and can’t wait to come back.

Went today with a group and had an AMAZING time. Group rates start at 15 people– we were slated to pay $ 7 each instead of the usual $ 20, but then ended up paying $ 6 each due to the fact that some of the trails were flooded and we were unable to head out to the back pasture.
The team ride itself is great– the drivers take their time and give a lot of interesting information about the animals. The land is absolutely beautiful and would be enjoyable all on its on. One aspect that was very disappointing was that each person is allowed only one team ride per visit. Other animal parks similar to this one in Dallas and San Antonio allow as many rides or drive throughs the park as wanted for the price of the entrance fee. I couldn’t understand why this limitation was set– especially since the large team often took off with only 3 people inside its multiple cars. I think it would be something to consider to allow multiple rides and sell more food, or allow additional rides for a small fee.
The free pony ride was nice, although only about two minutes long. The petting zoo and pens with different animals was fun, although I did question if some of the animals were being taken care of in the best way possible– I just tried really hard not to think about it.
Pack a lunch, snacks and drinks to eat at the picnic tables, and bring lots of hand sanitizer. Wear jeans and clothes toed shoes and pack bug spray and sun screen. We had an awesome time and are already planning our next visit.

My family and I went here and it was fun! You get to feed the animals but they are so full because they are being fed throughout the day by others. They take you on a tram ride around the whole place which is nice. The animals come up to you for food. I saw very many animals I have never seen before. The only thing I would have to say is that I do feel bad for some of the animals. There are 3 kangaroos in one pen, they don’t have enough space to roam. It kind of got depressing after a while seeing them sad and enclosed. I hope they invest more in their facility because it could be even better. It was an $ 80 day for the 4 of us. There were lots of people today due to Spring Break. It was a great learning experience! My daughters loved the free pony rides.

We had a bday party there last weekend. It was a great place. They don’t rush you. We were able to have the party first and then take the tram (around 45 mins) and then come back for cake. Everyone had a great time. Staff was friendly. Plenty of animals to see and lots to do. Just remember to bring cash. No CC accepted.

They have so many different animals as soon as you pull up you are met with Deer, Ostrich and birds. They literally come up to your door as if they are window washers.
You take a tram around 82 acres of land and see animals of all kinds.
Kids can take a free pony ride and enter a petting zoo.
This place is great if you have a fear less child like mine who want to touch all animals up close.

We had an ok visit…
There were 9 of us. (5adults 4kids). we paid 160 $ (they charged even for the 2 year old)
We got back to the back and there were about 250 daycare kids there. nobody at the front told us!
Well we thought would be ok because they put us on the front of a tram. away from the kids. but then right before we were about to start they made the 3 older kids we had squeeze together to cram 2 more unknown kids in the front of the tram with them. now this was just a flat part on the front of the tram. not even a real seat. which now has 5 kids. very disappointing when its 90 degrees outside and 5 kids under 10 have less than an inch between them.
The animals were fat and well fed, we had several come up to the tram and eat with us. but every day care kid was given a bowl of food. so all the animals that dared approach were machine gun style pelted with food. which was almost comical until we pulled up to one that had lost an eye due to a previous pelting.
Overall Id say the place was decent. they should shut down for the day when they have hundreds of kids there already. I mean how much can these animals eat?

A true diamond in the rough! A little zoo in Alvin that’s seemingly better than the larger Houston Zoo. After you pass the gate, anticipate traffic from animals freely roaming around the roads. Drive up and you’ll see ostriches and emus approach your window. Hop on the tram for a great tour where you’ll see ostrich, emus, all types of deer, African cattle, camels, zebras, giraffes, a rhinoceros, horses, buffalo, gators, lemurs, etc… Best of all, there seems to be much more space for these animals to roam around in instead of the pent up cages you see at the larger zoo. Along the way, you can feed the animals out of your bucket. And the llamas, camels, and watusi steer are more than happy to oblige. Fun for the family! Highly recommended!

This place was so awesome! Other than the fun wedding we traveled to Houston for; this made our trip!
It was an hour drive from where we were staying but it was beyond worth it!
Our kids enjoyed it & made some great memories for us all. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Cash only $ 20 adults & I something like $ 7 – 10 for kids. $ 2.50 for a huge bucket of food to feed the animals.

On that note, bring wipes & hand sanitizer (even though you can find some at some stations)
Next time I would pack a picnic & allergy meds in case anyone needs it. (Found out my son has seasonal allergies & the animals probably didn’t help but he didn’t mind it)

This is a great family attraction close to Kemah! If you are vacationing in Houston or near Kemah and are looking for something different to do, this is definitely something worth your time. Our party consisted of 3 adults and we all enjoyed our visit!
Adults cost $ 18 + tax, kids $ 9 + tax. Food buckets are $ 2.50 and they give you A LOT. We were there at 3pm and many of the animals were clearly not hungry. I’m assuming that they are probably more hungry in the mornings. Needless to say, we had a lot of food leftover.
Train ride was 40 minutes long. It’s a narrated tour and they will stop for you to feed the animals (they walk right up to the train) and you can get some great pictures! They definitely don’t rush you through.
There are pony rides for children during certain times of the day. Also, there is a petting zoo, which mainly consists of goats and large pigs.
They have so many animals on the train tour: camels, zebras, wildebeest, Patterson’s Eland, emu, ostrich, goats, giraffes, bison, a rhino, lemurs, gators, etc. I was thrilled when I spotted a softshell turtle basking next to one of their ponds (a favorite animal of mine)
I got the feeling that the animals are treated well here and have good lives. Everyone had lots of space and more than enough food to go around. It’s not like a zoo and it didn’t feel like a shady roadside attraction.
Downsides: No Credit Cards (cash and check only), & the ring-​tailed lemurs live on 3 different islands and are hard to see. They’re one of my favorite animals, so I was disappointed that I couldn’t see them up close.
There are restroom facilities, water fountains, picnic tables, and a gift shop at the barn which is right next to the parking lot & it’s where the train departs.
When we were there, the park closed at 4PM. August through February it closes at 3PM. You return your plastic food bucket in a trash can near the park exit.
