Sakura Japanese Sushi And Grill

Considering that it’s location is at a crappy motel this sushi restaurant is amazing and clean. I love the steak bento box dinner and my wife orders the shaggy dog roll and the crawfish roll both delicious. Of course the steak bento is amazing as well. The couple that owns the restaurant are on to something here. Great food and amazing service that is what I expect from a restaurant.

I’m just a little upset know one told me how great this is. A agree with some of the other reviews. The building does kind of seem a little run down. But once u walk in they great u with a smile. It’s been a great experience.

Good place to eat. One of the best in Alvin. Don’t let the outside keep you from this dive.

Amazing food !!! It’s great! Clean place, welcoming employees! Stuffed crab was great, miso soup was delicious and their hibachi shrimp was yummy just wished it provided more than 7 shrimps for lunch. I would recommend chicken terryaki for a great amount. Love this place! I will be coming back soon !

First time being here, seriously the best! We had to try it after all the good reviews we’ve seen, and it lives up to all the hype. So so so yummy! So glad we have a good Asian restaurant in Alvin. Such a hidden little gem!
Crab puffs were some of the best I’ve had, and miso soup was so good!!! Totally coming back. Chicken teriyaki was delish!

Absolutely delecious. Whenever we have company this is our go to joint. Owner is always so welcoming and the food never fails to please.

I don’t know about all these five star reviews, man. I thought it was pretty good, but not like, the best.
The table and the floors were sticky and the menu kind of smelled like it had been wiped with a musty rag.
The staff was nice, but they brought me and my date’s food out at different times. That’s a little weird.
I had a chicken katsu bento box, which is a crispy fried chicken breast cut in strips. It wasn’t very seasoned and the katsu sauce had a strong Worcestershire flavor to it. Meh. The fried rice was awesome. It came with 4 shrimp tempura sushi rolls, which were good and a nice switch from the standard California roll most places give you. It said it came with soup and salad, but they only brought me soup. My boyfriend said on his menu salad was marked out with white out. Quite a few items were marked out with white out.
My boyfriend really liked his food. He ordered miso soup because his throat hurt and said it was the best of anywhere else we go, that the tofu melted in his mouth. He doesn’t normally like miso soup. He got a White Dragon roll and said the super white tuna was delicious.
The bill for 2 came to $ 44 after the tip which is a lot higher than I was expecting.
Maybe I’m just being nitpicky because of the nothing-​but-​five-​star reviews before mine, but I’d rather go to ichibon or samurai for dinner. I’ll probably come back for a lunch special though because this place is closer to my house and it’s more affordable at lunchtime.

I had to try this place after reading the reviews. Upon pulling up I now understand why people talk about the appearance from the outside… It’s part of a Motel. A motel that looks like it is booked by the hour. But… Step inside and you a greeted by the nicest restaurant owner you have ever met. You are waited on hand and foot and the food is brought out quickly. The rolls are HUGE and very tasty. Prices are great for the quantity you receive. I’ll be back weekly.

The main part of the building almost caused us to pass by this place; but I totally trust my neighbor’s opinion, so we took a chance. The owner seated us, answered questions with a smile, and brought our food and tea. We had vegetable egg rolls with sweet chile sauce as an appetizer. For our 4pm dinner, my husband had steak with yakisoba noodles, and I had chicken fried rice. I even got sweet chile sauce for my rice. Both were delicious, I can report ;-). Took some rice home!
Restaurant was very clean/​comfortable, and the menus were very nice, professionally made, and clean. We will be back… and will do takeout! Run – don’t walk – to this place! (Prices were reasonable)

Really great food and the prices are good. Each sushi roll is bigger than you would expect. The owner greeted us, took our order, and delivered all of our food. He was very friendly and the restaurant was clean with a nice atmosphere.

My wife and I love Sushi, and Sukura is normally our go to place. We have never had a bad meal there. Service is always good, and the atmosphere is always nice. I’m not a big drinker, but on the occasional time we have ordered something it was always good as well. Prices are good, especially at happy hour. The Sushi is always good, and well presented.
When we are in the area and craving Sushi, we never hesitate to eat there.

Just like the other reviewers said, don’t skip it because of location. I ordered sushi and hibachi and both were phenomenal. My vegetarian friend raved at the veggie fried rice because of the variety and amount of veggies they included. Full pieces instead of the little bits other places include. Even my kid cleared her plate and that never happens. And when she got antsy from waiting on us, the waitress entertained her.

If you pass this place up because of the location then your missing out. The food is amazing. The service is fantastic. Kenny, the owner, is very hands on. We haven’t had anything bad to eat there. We eat there at least once a week.

This little place is a great! Amazing food! Great service! The owner/​chef is so nice! Don’t be put off by the location, it’s a complete delight on the inside.

This place is GREAT! Yes the outside looks sketchy. I would have never tried it myself until my friend told me to. The food was very good. Tasted fresh! The service was also great. The couple that seemed to own the place were also very nice
Not only was the food great but it was definitely also at a good price. This place is cheaper than other sushi places I’ve been to and yet it tastes better.
Even though the outside was sketchy, the inside is actually nice and clean.
I just wish it was closer from home :(

New restaurant, family owned and operated. Owner Kenny Wang is one of the most attentive people you will ever meet. Do not judge a book by its cover. The sushi and hibachi style dishes at Sakura are always fresh and some of the best tasting sushi I have ever had, prices are very affordable and everything in the restaurant is very clean and well maintained. This restaurant has been getting a lot of buzz on the Alvin Eats Facebook page and once you go and try the sushi it’s very clear why. Personal favorite is the tiger roll. Also don’t forget to order their crab puffs, very unique style and tastes amazing
