I was really looking forward to trying out the «fresh» salad bar and other menu items and I left utterly disappointed, not only because of the food selection but because of the terrible service by our waitress. She hovered over us constantly not allowing us to enjoy a peaceful meal, she was staring us down the whole time, it was uncomfortable.
The salad bar has VERY limited options, a lot of the options looked wilted and just plain old. I decided to get the unlimited soup, my husband chose the salad bar against his better judgement.
The tomato soup was warm and had a nice texture, I let my husband try my soup and he insisted I give the salad a try.
The big surprise came when we were given our check, the waitress charged us BOTH for salad and soup, when we asked why she said she saw us trying each other’s food, therefore we have to pay for both. WHO DOES THAT??? Absolutely ridiculous I told her, I just paid the bill, left her no tip and left and will never return.

I placed a large lunch order for work here and wanted something different. So we got a few trays of different casseroles, lasagnas and kale salad. Also got dessert shots… very well packaged for our pick up and wonderful variety of food that wasn’t your average bbq or chicken fried steak options. The price is right for catering as well and everyone loved the variety and flavor of everything. The owner was very nice to work with and should be supported as a small business owner of something that is delightfully out of the norm for Amarillo.

Pushy waitress doesn’t let you look at the menu in peace. Where’s the fire!!!
Can’t share your salad with your significant other. Waitress didn’t share that information with us before we ordered. Came here for the salad, got a self-​serve salad bar instead. My old corporation cafeteria had better food than this! Avoid this place.

Excellent. Fresh and clean. Great variety on the salad bar. Mint tea is outstanding. Wonderful daily specials. Perfect place to stop for lunch.

Wonderful! Salad bar is awesome, everything is amazing. This restaurant is full of talented chefs and have a great staff.

A nice surprise found in the basement of the Amarillo National Bank building. A chic café with sandwiches and a salad bar. I had the prickly pear lemonade, which was a festive pink, but nothing too special, and The Professor sandwich — hummus, guacamole, alfalfa sprouts, spinach. I love their fries! Definitely would hit up this place for lunch again.

Anyone who’s been to Amarillo knows it is not known as a vegetarian/​vegan friendly town. I was looking hard on Unilocal to find any place with the word «vegetarian» in the description. Then I found Pan-​Handlers Café. Bookmark!
Since it’s in the basement of a bank building, you’d never know it was there unless someone told you or you researched like I did. I got down to the basement and was so pleasantly surprised at what I found.
There were two (I think) vegetarian sandwiches on the menu and I thought about one of them. But the salad bar was calling my name. So I just got the unlimited salad bar for $ 9. I started looking around and reading the labels and saw words like «organic» and «kale.» Kale in Amarillo?! Who would have thought?! Not me.
I loaded up my first plate with kale, organic greens, tomatoes, and that wonderful «Green Goddess» house dressing. My second plate was full of hummus, pita, more tomatoes, and cucumber salad. So much high quality, healthy food.
This really is the best kept secret in Amarillo. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town.

Hands down the best lunch choice downtown.
Great salad bar with a variety of healthy menu options. They support local farmers and ranchers by using fresh and local ingredients whenever they can and it really makes a difference.
Friday’s special is usually fish and chips… and they’re awesome.
Everything from start to finish is really unlike anything else in town.

Great healthy choices. They make all their own dressings, pickles, olives and salads. It’s amazing what fresh ingredients can do for a meal. Inexpensive. Worth the trip downtown.
