Soaps Laundry

Anyone who brings in laundry covered in grease, oil, or tar will be asked to take their bundles and leave. That’s what the sign says.
You are welcome to help yourself to free Jesus tracts printed on pastel paper to read while you wait, and there are some really good ones, like «48 Hours In Hell» and «Liberate Yourself From Sins of the Flesh.»
Laundromats are a ramblin’ girl’s best friend, and I was very excited to finally have some clean pants. The washers and dryers are pretty temperamental, but there is a burly lady attendant who will kick ‘em into shape for you (sometimes literally). And it is affordable, too — one load, wash and dry, cost me around three bucks.
Katya J. is right — people watching here is sheer bliss. If you are just passing through Amarillo and need a laundro, let this be the one for you.

Who knew a laundromat could be so seedy? There’s always a weird mix of young people, trailer trash, senior citizens, etc… it’s a very populist place! Pretty colorful, too. The staff is helpful and they do full-​service laundry, even though this is the type of place to post signs like «Don’t put tar in our washers.» Even have some old school arcade games and a lousy vending machine. Cheap washers & dryers, but half of them are broken at any given time. It’s everything a real laundromat should be.
