Black Forest Haus

Had the Friday buffet, the catfish was great. Nice thin filets coated with a light crust, yum. The greens were cooked just right with lots of ham hock. I personally was not overly impressed with the short ribs, but ribs are a very personal preference to us around here. For the price that was paid for that buffet you can’t beat it anywhere and the friendliness of the patrons and staff can’t be beat, Amelia is awesome. Love that Black Forest Haus.

My husband and I decided to stop here on our way back home to DC to grab some lunch.
This restaurant is clean, lightly decorated with German décor, the owners are the staff, and our food was in huge portions for a very good price!
My husband got the schnitzel sandwich and I got the special ribeye sandwich with cole slaw. If you look at the picture, I got a huge portion of food for only $ 7.95! And you can add on the soup and salad bar for $ 1.95. Tons of delicious options in the salad bar. The schnitzel was crunchy and well flavored. I am very picky with cole slaw and I loved this slaw.
I enjoyed watching Rolf tend to the budding daffodils in the flower boxes outside and Margarete was delightful and friendly.
Overall, this is a sweet, family owned restaurant that I would love to come back to. I don’t think you would regret coming here especially if you appreciate European (and American) food. Also, we were told Rolf cuts his own meats.
