We have stayed here twice because traveling with pets and only option in Ames that takes pets. The pet-friendly rooms are directly below the smoking rooms, and the ventilation sends smoke smells into the pet rooms. Air quality impacted all of our travelers. Staff are friendly. Breakfast is decent. Rooms seem secure. The main reason we would stay here is for the pet-friendly aspect, but not worth the health impact of ingesting stale, second-hand smoke.
